Opis:: This article contains the analysis of employment structure in mining companies from 1994 to 2011. It also portrays the condition of polish mining restructuring process based on government programs, as well as the effects of conducted activities in relation to the regional labour market. Finally, the article shows the perspectives and intentions of the mining companies' management boards in the field of directing human resources.

Opis:: Economic entities, along with increasing demands in politics as well as Polish and EU strategies in the field of the protection of environment, seek the minimalization of the pressure inflicted. The hard coal mining and processing industry, despite much success, is still producing considerable amount of solid waste. What is more, there are still many uncultivated mounds. The annual amount of waste produced is 31,5 mln of tons, and 568,8 mln of tons so far stored (as of the end of 2010). The waste from the current production is, in more than 90%, subjected to recycling and used mainly for the terrain leveling as well as engineering works, and those lingering on the mounds are being more often used. However, the generally accepted and standardized methods of such enterprise solvency are still lacking. It is connected with the fact that they require taking into consideration many aspects such as law, technical, economical, ecological and social ones. The cost-benefit analysis method, conducted from the point of view of a waste owner as well as a businessman wanting to cultivate waste and local authorities, on the terrain where the mould is located, has been suggested in the report. The proposed model solutions may be the basis for the analyses of similar type. Its application (use), along with the analyses results, has been presented on a particular example.

Opis:: The paper presents a facilitating procedure of the material planning requirements for a coal mining company. To determine the size of the materials are used the multicriteria model, the lexicographic goal programming and the maximin method. The main criteria in the site procedure are probabilities of covering the future demand for materials. The Application of the procedure is shown in the example of fixing a contract for mining wood, polyurethane adhesive, steel racks and smooth steel idlers.

Opis:: In the article discussed restructuring programmes of mining carried out in Poland and their influence on limiting an employment in the sector were discussed. None of them was fully carried out according to previous assumptions. Initial actions were characterised by failures, however after all one should assess the course of taken corrective actions positively. An employment in the industry was seriously limited what caused the distinctive improvement in its economic effectiveness.

Opis:: State aid in the hard coal mining industry reflects the long-term EU policy on balanced support for adaptation and restructuring processes in this sector. The greatest beneficiaries of the restructuring aid in 2002-2010 were mines in Germany, Spain, Poland, France and Romania. The reform of the coal sector in Poland to 2003 was characterized by poor effectiveness due to the recurring problem of rising debt, fear of political consequences and strong industry lobbies. Improvement of a technological innovation degree in Polish mines implies the need to provide increased funds for research and development, training employees and environmental protection. This will ensure more effective management of change, transforming coal mines in modern and profitable companies.

Opis:: Głównym celem pracy jest przedstawienie możliwości uwzględniania nieporównywalności kryteriów w procedurze wielokryterialnego wspomagania decyzji z wykorzystaniem metody AHP. Praca dotyczy zastosowania metod wielokryterialnych do oceny projektów inwestycyjnych dotyczących wyrobiska wybierkowego w kopalni węgla kamiennego. Uwzględnienie nieporównywalności kryteriów związane jest z aspektami bezpieczeństwa pracy (występujących zagrożeń). Zagadnienia poruszone w pracy są konsekwencją analiz związanych z oceną w cyklu istnienia (życia) inwestycji oraz wykorzystania koncepcji dominacji ze względu na ryzyko do wspomagania decyzji przy nieporównywalności kryteriów.
The main aim of this paper is to present the possibilities to take into consideration non-comparability criteria in the procedure of multi-criteria decision support using AHP method. The work concerns the application of multi-criteria methods for the evaluation of investment projects associated with excavation in hard coal mine. The inclusion of non-comparability criteria is associated with the safety aspects of work (existing threats). The issues dealt with in the work are a consequence of the investment life cycle analysis evaluation and the use of the concept of risk dominance for the decision support.

Opis:: The article presents the financial innovation issues on application of the financial innovation in the business activity of mining companies from the perspective of the enduser of financial innovation. The purpose of the article is to review the innovative financial instruments which have been exploited in the business activity of the mining companies. The paper identifies the factors that cause the limited interest of the mining companies for application of the financial innovations. Moreover the potential benefits of applying innovative financial instruments in the risk management process in the mining companies were indicated.
