- A smartphone in the German classroom A smartphone, being a personal student’s device with great educational potential, can be used and is used in a classroom. Do German teachers use smartphones? How do they do it? What are the benefits resulting from it? Does it have any influence on the role of a learner and a teacher? The following article is an attempt to find the answer to the above and other questions about the role of modern technologies in the German classroom. It is based on own research conducted among a group of German teachers. The essential context for the study and the reflections are teachers’ digital competencies and the status of a smartphone at school.
