Currently (April 2016) uninterrupted information about a ship’s position can be obtained from specialized electronic position-fixing systems, in particular, Satellite Navigation Systems (SNSs) such as GPS and GLONASS and Satellite Based Augmentation Systems (SBASs) such as EGNOS or WAAS. The generic name given to all the above mentioned systems is Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). Many models, designed for the ship’s bridge and provided by about a dozen manufacturers, are available on the world market. In Europe, one of the most comprehensive sources of knowledge on the global GNSS market is a report published, on average, every 15 months by the European GNSS Agency GSA. Another receiver survey is published each year in the January number of the magazine “GPS World”. The detailed analysis of market report and receiver survey, possible use of EGNOS and Galileo in the maritime market, and different maritime applications of GNSS equipment are described in this paper.

Opis:
Presently a lot of countries carry out aviation tests of Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast (ADB-S). The on-board GPS receiver is used as a basic source of information on position and time for that system. According to the CNS/ATM plan, traditional radars using by ATC will be replaced for ADB-S in the near future. One the vital element of the system is Global Navigational Satellite System (GNSS). According to the project a research team is going to work out an aviation tracking system for control an air traffic and ground movement in the border area. Moreover, the team will examine the system in the areas of accuracy, range of tracking and reliability as well. The proposed system consists of three basic components: the positioning, airborne GNSS receivers, the transmission of data and the ground station. The research plan is carried out taking into account a variety of air operations, such as a takeoff, a route on a low height, approaching and landing. The idea of monitoring system for aircraft using satellite navigation systems is in line with the concept of the use of GNSS in aviation, both in Europe and worldwide.

In the work a method of latency measurement in software defined radio (SDR) is proposed and validated. The test setup uses customer grade GNSS modules as reference time sources and enables relative delay calculation between signals received directly and those bypassed through SDR platform. The method is hardware agnostic in a sense, that it does not involve any custom software or hardware modifications. Tests that compare reported carrier-to-noise ratio and positioning errors were performed to prove functionality of such system. Additionally, authors measured several gnuradio blocks with respect to their impact on total latency introduced into signal path. All tests were performed on a bladeRF low-cost RF front-end. Minimum observed latency for the signal was below 10 ms.

The study includes the description of development conditions for the satellite navigation programme Galileo. Its also includes some aspects of the Galileo programme accomplishment, especially its influence on the integration process in Europe and tightening the international connections. The programme has been implemented since the 1990s and its aim is to ensure the independence of the EU countries in such sectors of their economy which are based on the precise information related to location and time. Galileo has also its overregional dimension, which is the result of satellite constellation and its global reach. It is the biggest industrial project conducted within the integrated European structures. What is more, the distinction of Galileo among other European satellite programmes has its roots in its crucial strategic significance rather than in technology or investment costs. So far, the cosmologic institutions have not been formally connected with the integrated European structures, and less importance has been attached to political aspects of their projects. The transformation of the Galileo programme is proceeding in the condition of potential incomes risk from the system work. The fiasco of public and private partnership establishments was the result of differences in estimating the risk of trade incomes and market development. In 2013 Galileo will be in its full operation process and first GPS III satellites will work, what is more, the high precision of this American system and other integrated GNSS systems will establish competition in terms of commercial and amateur aplications. Widening the cooperation between the EU countries and the USA implies many positive effects, such as creating the idea of a multi-system satellite scheme, the compatibility of Galileo and GPS receivers and, what follows, the increase of navigation precision and reduction of overall costs borne by the system owners.

Opis:
The whole world is dependent on satellite systems as they are used in almost all fields of economic and social life, in transport, banking, industry, agriculture, etc. Thanks to the development of technology, most smartphones used everyday have been equipped with a built-in GNSS receiver, many cars with navigation systems and all vessels with GNSS receiver or a satellite compass for navigation. Systems working on similar frequencies can be used for jamming or spoofing satellite systems. Such purposeful system jamming can be damaging to users and society as a whole. This article includes a description of jamming and a presentation of one of possible receiver designs allowing for jamming signal detection. This receiver has been designed and built by the authors of the article.
Systemy satelitarne uzależniły cały świat i są wykorzystywane niemal we wszystkich dziedzinach życia gospodarczego i społecznego, w transporcie, bankowości, przemyśle, rolnictwie itp.

Due to the development of MEMS, there is an opportunity to build a low-cost integrated navigation systems, operating independently of horizon visibility. This paper presents the proposal of an integrated GPS/IMU platform using MEMS technology. In order to verify the performance of a system built at the University of Warmia and Mazury, an experiment was conducted. In this experiment a precise Javad GNSS receiver, commercial grade GPS/IMU XW – ADU5660 and own-built system were used. The experiment was conducted to compare the results obtained from self built device with the working military integrated navigation unit. During the study all three devices were mounted inside moving vehicle. The car drove route inside the Kortowo campus, during which, all equipment performed measurements. Then, the results from both integrated systems were compared with RTK (Real Time Kinematic) results from Javad receiver. Experiments prove that the performance of own device is comparable to the commercial device.

Study of the trajectories of the motion of satellites remains an urgent task for modern science. This is especially true for GNSS systems and for satellites intended for Earth remote sensing. The basis of their operation is to accurately determine the position of the satellite, and the parameters of signal propagation. Considering the great distances and speeds of both satellites and the Earth in calculating these parameters, it is necessary to take into account the special and general theory of relativity. In the article formulas have been derived for calculating additional corrections for relativistic effects. A mathematical model for calculating the metric tensor was created. A sequence of correction was also proposed.

Opis:
In recent years, the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) has been widely applied in surveying and mapping. Currently, in Vietnam, dual-frequency GNSS receivers are quite extensively applied with the real-time kinematic (RTK) measurement technique using a continuously operating reference station network. However, high-accuracy GNSS receivers are often expensive, sometimes not meeting the needs of users for specific applications. This research develops two types of low-cost highprecision GNSS receivers for RTK positioning for different purposes. First, the millimeter precision GNSS receiver used in real-time displacement monitoring is based on Trimble's BD970 mainboard technology and some other modules. These components are interconnected according to a standard design scheme and assembled in an enclosure to form a GNSS receiver. In addition, a GNSS data transmission in the National Marine Electronics Association standard format by Networked Transport of Radio Technical Commission for Maritime Services via Internet Protocol (NTRIP) has been designed and developed. The GNSS receiver after development is loaded with program code written in the C# programming language, using the Arduino programming tool. Second, the GNSS receivers have the centimeter accuracy for RTK positioning used in surveying and mapping based on U-blox's mainboard technology and some other modules. These modules are also connected together according to a standard design scheme and assembled in an enclosure to form a complete GNSS receiver. The evaluation results show that the designed and developed GNSS receivers completely meet the requirements of surveying and mapping in coal mines in Vietnam, such as real-time monitoring of landslides, surveying and topographical mapping and other surveying works to serve the mining process.

Positioning accuracy is very important in many areas, whereas the typical GPS receiver accuracy is often not sufficient. The European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS), Europe’s first venture into satellite navigation, improves the open public service offered by the Global Positioning System (GPS). As a satellite navigation augmentation system, EGNOS improves the accuracy of GPS by providing a positioning accuracy to within 3 meters. In this paper we present GNSS receivers based on EGNOS, dedicated for precise positioning in restricted areas of continental shelf performance. The article presents some results regarding position accuracy, obtained for a few receivers in that context.
