Opis:
Compression ignition engines have no possibility for self-regeneration of DPF and regeneration requires additional energy for soot combustion (additional fuel or electric energy) after some period of the engine work as a result of closing of substrate pores by soot. The innovation method takes into account a self-regeneration of diesel particle filter by use of special heat recovery system. The paper shows one of possible design of DPF self-regeneration. The exhaust temperature behind the turbine and catalytic converter is very low and for an increasing of gas temperature before DPF, the heat from soot combustion can be used. The preliminary studies show a possibility of using the special design of DPF with heat recovery system. The paper presents results obtained from simulations based on one-dimensional model of such system and analysis of increasing the heat recovery ratio by change of geometry of DPF. The gas heat exchange formulas between DPF and the heat exchange model are partly included in the paper. The preliminary results of calculations show the possibility of increase of exhaust gases in front of DPF about 20%, which enables a continuous regeneration of DPF. Heat recovery ratio is depends on soot combustion rate on the wall of DPF monolith. The method enables to recover some part of energy which is lost in the conventional DPF. The paper is a part of further work in European project FP6 IPSY.

Opis:
The subject of this article is to compare the effectiveness of commercial exhaust gas aftertreatment systems such as TWC and GPF with their prototype variant, which is produced on a pilot line that allows the recovery of precious metals. What's more, the said production line allows the manufacture of components compliant with Euro IV, V and VI standards. Depending on the model of the monolith made, it is possible to reduce the consumption of precious metal raw materials by up to 20%, which should be considered a significant result. The article describes in detail the manufacturing process of metal carriers using the mentioned technology. A dynamic engine dynamometer was used for tests verifying the effectiveness of particulate filters, on which the RDE test route covering the area of the Poznan agglomeration was mapped. The tests performed are particularly important, as it should be borne in mind that according to the forecast in 2025, internal combustion engines powered by conventional fuels will account for 85% of all propulsion sources. In addition, the increasing environmental awareness of vehicle users and manufacturers requires solutions to reduce PM emissions into the atmosphere in both mass and number.

Opis:
Over the previous few decades, there has been a noticeable increase in interest in the use of vegetable fibers and supplemental cementitious elements in mortar and concrete. The date palm frond was utilized in this study to create date palm fibers (DPF), which were then added to the cement mortar at percentages of 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5% by cement weight. There were two types of DPFs used: one type was untreated, and the other had a mechanical treatment that created holes before applying a layer of polychloroprene (neoprene) on the surface. Metakaolin (MK) and nano calcium carbonate (nano-CaCo3) were added to the cement mortar by the weight of cement. MK was replaced by 10% of the weight of cement. Besides, the nano-CaCo3 was replaced by 1%, 2%, 3%, and 4% of the weight of cement. Mechanical tests for flowability, compressive strength, and flexural strength were conducted. In addition, one MCDM methodology called VIKOR is utilized to choose the best combination out of several combinations and criteria. The results indicate that a higher DPF concentration enhances both compressive and flexural strength. The mixtures with the DPF coating and mechanical treatment give the strongest and most significant results. In addition, the flowability of cement mortar decreases when the DPF concentration increases. In addition to the high content of nano-CaCo3 in cement mortar, given the grater reading of strength, the presence of nano- CaCo3 in cement mortar reduces the disparity in result values that have a higher DPF content. The mixtures containing 4% and 5% DPF and 3% and 4% nano-CaCo3 are the optimal ones, according to the VIKOR technique.

Opis:
The aim of the article was to analyze changes in the trends of selected physical, chemical and functional properties of lubricating engine oil operating in a diesel-engine vehicle equipped with DPF. The vehicle was operated mainly in urban driving conditions (app. 70%), which impeded the DPF regeneration cycle and caused dilution of oil with unburned fuel. Changes in the following physical and chemical properties were assessed: the DF level in engine oil, viscosity (kinematic, dynamic HTHS and structural CCS), total base number, acid number as well as the degree of oxidation, nitration and sulphonation. The tests have shown that the amount of unburned fuel that goes to the engine crankcase due to the unfinished DPF regeneration cycle is as high as 26.0-34.6%. Dilution of the lubricating oil with fuel leads to a significant reduction of its viscosity - about 30% of the fuel content causes a decrease in the kinematic viscosity measured at 100°C to the level of 7.7 mm2/s. There was also a significant decrease in total base number (TBN) < 2 mg KOH/g, and an increase in the total acid number (TAN). Moreover, the results obtained were analyzed for potential effects that could have been caused during prolonged engine operation by assessing the content of trace elements in the samples taken.
