- Transfusiology is a discipline that originated thanks to the creativity of physicians and development of medical sciences. In the nineteenth century, despite the justified scientific assumptions for blood loss treatment with means of its filling, some transfusions have ended up with success and other ones led to deaths of patients without any explicit reason. In order to make a transfusion method complete and develop it to the contemporary level, blood groups and skills preventing coagulation had to be discovered. Transfusion apparatus created in the nineteenth century are the evident proof for scientific researches and creativity of physicians. First transfusion apparatus (Karl von Graefe, Ludwik Bierkowski, James Blundell) will be presented in this papers, and when evolved they led to the development of contemporary blood transfusion method.
