    Artykuł jest próbą opowiedzenia o działalności Papieskiej Rady Iustitia et Pax poprzez koncepcję kapitału ludzkiego, który jest uznawany za jeden z kluczowych czynników wzrostu i rozwoju gospodarczego. Jednocześnie jest to zagadnienie posiadające bogatą literaturę. Na kapitał ludzki składają się w dużej mierze czynniki takie jak posiadane przez człowieka zasoby wiedzy, talentu, przedsiębiorczości i zdrowia. Można przyjąć, że przynajmniej niektóre instytucje religijne są w stanie poprzez swoją działalność wspierać tworzenie kapitału ludzkiego. Papieska Rada Iustitia et Pax, działająca w latach 1967–2017, jest jedną z nich.
    This article is an attempt to describe Papal Council Iustitia et Pax activities through the concept of human capital, which is one of the most important factors of economic growth and development. Simultaneously, the issue has been explored in scholarly literature. Human capital consists largely of several factors like a knowledge, talent, entrepreneurship and health possessed by a person. Therefore, it can be assumed that at least certain religious institutions are capable of creating human capital. Papal Council Iustitia et Pax, which was active between 1967–2017, is one of them.

    During the works on the new social-political order the congregation and representatives of the Catholic Church pointed to the necessity of recognizing the values that are fundamental from the point of view of the Church, as well as of the Catholic social teaching. It is exactly the Catholic social teaching that was the source of the principles referred to by the initiators of the process of constructing what is today known as the European Union (K. Adenauer, A. de Gaspari, R. Schuman). In the article the aggressive moral relativism is criticized and the need to find lasting anchorages for the shaping of the EU’s identity is pointed to.

    Opis:
    The social teaching of the Catholic Church is a doctrine on matters of poverty and wealth, economics, social organization and the role of the state. The principles of Catholic social teaching are: human dignity, love, truth, freedom, justice, solidarity, subsidiarity, participation, preferential option for the poor and vulnerable, dignity of work and the rights of workers and care for God’s creation. Several organs of the Holy See are dedicated to social issues, among others the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace. Although blessed with a wealth of natural resources, Africa is the poorest continent. Poverty is understood in many different ways, but most commonly it is described as an economic condition where one lacks both money and the basic necessities that are needed to successfully survive. Many people in Africa still live in abject poverty because of bad governance, corruption and human irresponsibility. Many Africans are also victims of diseases such as AIDS and malaria. In this situation the Catholic Church can play a critical role by advocating for economic justice and eradication of poverty from Africa. The Catholic Church in Africa, which calls herself the Family of God, undertakes many actions against the poverty, such as: education, health, aid to the needy, development projects, defence of human rights, and the commitment to bring about democracy and legally constituted states. Making his first trip to Africa, Pope Benedict XVI said the Catholic Church can help to bring an answers to the continent's chronic problems, including poverty, AIDS and tribalism.

    W niniejszym artykule – dotyczącym związku między nauką społeczną Kościoła a gospodarką społeczną – starano się wykazać zasadniczą zgodność założeń między postulatami przedstawianymi przez Kościół katolicki a podstawami, na których opiera się gospodarka społeczna. W pierwszej części artykułu udzielono odpowiedzi na pytanie, czym jest katolicka nauka społeczna, jaką metodologią się posługuje oraz jaki jest jej związek z innymi dyscyplinami naukowymi. W ujęciu tabelarycznym zaprezentowano głównych przedstawicieli katolickiej myśli społecznej i ich zainteresowania oraz dzieła. Następnie przybliżono Czytelnikowi pojęcie gospodarki społecznej, jej główne założenia, aby przejść do omówienia zasad katolickiej nauki społecznej, które są identyczne bądź zbliżone do tych, na jakich opiera się gospodarka społeczna. Uczyniono to bazując na wybranych ofi cjalnych dokumentach Kościoła katolickiego.
    In the article – dealing with the relations of social teaching of the Church and social economy – the principal consistency of assumptions between the postulates presented by the Catholic Church and the fundaments of social economy have been presented. In the fi rst part of the article the questions of what is the social teaching of the Church, what methodology it uses and what is its relation with other scientifi c disciplines have been addressed. In the Table the main representatives of the Catholic social teaching, their interests and works have been shown. The reader is acquainted with the notion of social economy, its main assumptions in order to move to the principles of the Catholic social teaching. It was achieved using offi cial selected documents of the Catholic Church.

    Die Erarbeitung der Äußerungen der Tschechischen Bischofskonferenz, besonders ihrer Pastoralbriefen, macht sichtbar, dass damit oft klares Wort zu neuen Aufforderungen gegeben wird. Die thematische Analyse zeigt deutliche Teilung der Äußerungen: zuerst die Äußerungen mit innerkirchlichen Bedeutung, zweitens innerkirchliche Äußerungen mit Überstieg in die zivile Gesellschaft, und drittens die an zivile Gesellschaft gezielten Äußerungen. Zum Unterschied mit den innerkirchlichen Aussagen, die an die zivile Gesellschaft gezielte Äußerungen haben größeres Echo und Bedeutung für öffentliche Meinung gefunden. Im Laufe der Jahren zeigte sich, dass es in den innerkirchlichen Fragen anpassender ist, die Subsidiarität mehr zu betonen, und umgekehrt in den gesellschaftlichen Fragen die Zentralisation vorzuziehen.
    Treating of the statements of the Czech Bishops’ Conference, particularly of its pastoral letters, makes clear this is often used to give clear words on new challenges. The thematic analysis shows clear division of the statements surveyed: first the statements targeted within the Church community, secondly statements oriented to the Church’s community with transcendence into civil society, and thirdly statements aimed at civil society. In contrast with the statements targeted in the Church community, statements oriented to civil society have found greater resonance and importance for public opinion. Over the years we can observe that it is worthier to emphasize the principle of subsidiarity in the internal ecclesiastical questions, and vice versa centralization is preferred in statements on social issues.
    Odniesienie się do wypowiedzi Konferencji Biskupów Czech, w szczególności jej listów pasterskich, wyjaśnia, że tym sposobem podane jest często jasne słowo wobec nowych wyzwań. Analiza tematyczna pokazuje wyraźny podział wyrażeń: po pierwsze wypowiedzi skierowane wewnątrz Kościoła, po drugie wypowiedzi skierowane wewnątrz Kościoła z wagą też dla społeczeństwa obywatelskiego, a po trzecie wypowiedzi ukierunkowane do samego społeczeństwa obywatelskiego. W przeciwieństwie do wypowiedzi skierowanych wewnątrz Kościoła, wypowiedzi ukierunkowane do społeczeństwa obywatelskiego znalazły większy oddźwięk i znaczenie dla opinii publicznej. Z biegiem lat okazało się, że dla wewnątrzkościelnych spraw bardziej odpowiednie jest podkreślenie zasady pomocniczości, i odwrotnie – w kwestiach społecznych jest preferowana centralizacja.
