Opis:: This paper presents the results of a study that explored the experiences of adult educators during the COVID-19 pandemic. This online survey was conducted in June 2020 and included directors and teachers in adult education from various institutions in Slovenia. Tutors at Slovenian Third-Age Universities and other associations that provided adult education were also included. The aim of our study was to examine how distance education was implemented during the pandemic, using the concept of ‘emergency remote teaching’ (Hodges, 2020). The study sample included 30 directors of adult education institutions and 124 teachers or tutors. The results showed that organisations providing adult education responded during the lockdown by providing adults with the opportunity to continue their education through distance learning. However, this was not the case for all of adult education programmes. Mostly language courses and formal education were offered. The results show that most adult educators quickly adapted to the new working conditions, but that teaching approaches were rather static and asynchronous teaching solutions. An analysis of the problems teachers faced and the support they needed has shown that action is needed to remove the obstacles to the future provision of adult education as much as possible.

Opis:: Aim. The aim of the contribution is to evaluate the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Slovak economy. We analyzed the pertinent data relating to Slovakia's economy, tourism, and education infrastructures, and also the measures introduced during the pandemic which affected them. Methods. The paper is mainly based on descriptive, analytical and statistical methods, and based on global statistics data, studies, and research conducted in this field. Results. In 2020, the Slovak economy decreased by 9.3%. The reason was not only domestic measures against the spread of the coronavirus, but also a slump in foreign demand. The growth of the Slovak economy had already slowed during 2019, even before the onset of the COVID-19 disease. Extensive travel restrictions, especially at the international level, fundamentally affected the total number of visitors, in particular during the period March to August 2021. Almost 1.6 million visitors stayed in hotels, boarding houses, and other accommodation facilities in Slovakia during this period of the pandemic, which represented a decrease of almost 54% when compared to the pre-pandemic year of 2019. Conclusion. The significant deterioration of the economy was the result of a large number of significant restrictive measures taken to stop the spread of the COVID-19 disease. The factor of the COVID-19 pandemic influenced the future of tourism and education, bringing changes to their direction and economic benefits. This pandemic has significantly affected education in Slovakia and worldwide, and we are following its transformation.

Opis:: Wiosną 2020 r. w wyniku pandemii konieczne było zarządzenie kwarantanny i wszystkie instytucje edukacyjne przeszły na kształcenie zdalne, co spowodowało znaczące zmiany w dziedzinie edukacji na całym świecie. Konieczne było zbudowanie własnego potencjału do zapewnienia kształcenia i uczenia się na odległość w celu ochrony edukacji oraz stworzenie możliwości bardziej zindywidualizowanego podejścia do nauczania i uczenia się nie tylko podczas przyszłych pandemii, ale i innych wstrząsów, takich jak klęski żywiołowe. Jest to możliwe, o ile powstaną elastyczne programy nauczania, które można realizować bezpośrednio lub online. W artykule dokonano analizy kształcenia na odległość na świecie w czasie pandemii oraz istotnych zmian i realizowanych działań w zakresie edukacji w Ukrainie i na świecie. Podkreślono rolę organizacji społecznych i międzynarodowych podczas wprowadzenia kwarantanny w warunkach pandemii COVID-19, które częściowo przejęły funkcje władz państwowych i samorządowych. Zamknięcie szkół w związku z pandemią COVID-19 doprowadziło de facto do pogorszenia się wyników w uczeniu się, dlatego analizie poddane zostały też skutki kształcenia na odległość i nierówności cyfrowej na świecie. Wskazano również, w jaki sposób pandemia COVID-19 wpłynęła na dostęp do usług publicznych w Ukrainie.
In the spring of 2020, the pandemic led to quarantine and all educational institutions switched to distance learning, which has caused significant changes in the field of education around the world. It was necessary to build one’s own capacity to provide education and distance learning to protect education and to create opportunities for more individualized approach to teaching and learning not only during future pandemics but also during other shocks, such as natural disasters. This is possible as long as flexible curricula are created that can be taught face-to-face or online. The article analyzes distance education in the world during the pandemic as well as significant changes and implemented measures in the field of education in Ukraine and around the world. The role of public and international organizations in the implementation of quarantine in the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, which partially took over the functions of state and local authorities, was emphasized. The closure of schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic has in fact led to a deterioration in learning outcomes, so the effects of distance learning and digital inequality in the world were also analyzed. It is also shown how the COVID-19 pandemic affected access to public services in Ukraine.
