    Opis:
    The uncontrolled wave of immigrants to the European Union countries, which reached its peak in 2015, challenged not only the well-established system of asylum policies in the Member States but also revealed the fundamental differences among them concerning the so-called “immigration issue”. The article focuses on the mechanisms and institutions which evolved during the different waves of immigrants in Belgium and the Netherlands. It also looks for an answer to the question: is mass immigration to Europe a threat or an opportunity? Depending on one’s attitude to the topic, the answer may be positive or negative.

    In the catchment of the Noor brook, by the Dutch/Belgian border, excess precipitation with high nitrate concentrations (80-120 mgˇl-1) recharges the Cretaceous multi-aquifer system under the plateau and foothill (agricultural area). The nitrates are transported through the aquifer (median NO3-> 50 mgˇl-1 under the plateau) towards springs and wetlands of the Noorbeemden nature reserve. The major spring has a concentration of 70-80 mgˇl-1. The concentration in the Noor brook is somewhat lower (median 46 mgˇl-1) because of denitrification in the wetlands. The groundwater flow and transport model FLONET/TRANS was used to simulate the development of the nitrate distribution in the last 50 years. The general NO3-distribution in the northern part of the catchment could be reasonably well predicted, whereas the concentrations in the southern part were underestimated by about 20 mgˇl-1. The simulated future trend in the northern part of the catchment in the next 100 years shows that a reduction of nitrate leaching by 50% is required to level off the currently still increasing concentrations. A dramatic decrease of leaching by 75% is needed to achieve pre-1950's concentrations. This implies that the management plan of the Noorbeemden Nature Reserve, which is complied by the Nature Conservation Organisation, should not aim at botanical restoration in the first decades, even if severe restrictions in nitrogen application are imposed on the farmers now.

    This article is dedicated to international connections between selected representatives of Polish and Western avant-gardes in art and literature of the interwar period. Both the nature and the scale of such relations have been exemplified by a number of artists from the “a.r.” group – Katarzyna Kobro, Władysław Strzemiński, Henryk Stażewski and Jan Brzękowski, as well as their relationships with the representatives of Dutch and Belgian formations, inter alia “De Stijl” group. The origin of those connections has been briefly presented, along with their nature, dynamics and an impact they made on artworks and theories of chosen artists. Their description is based on archival documents and publications, from which a picture of direct relationships between the leading artists of the European avant-garde emerges – some of them personal, some correspondence-based; they have also been presented in form of a diagram that illustrates the text.
    Niniejszy artykuł poświęcony jest międzynarodowym kontaktom istniejącym pomiędzy wybranymi przedstawicielami polskiej i zachodniej międzywojennej awangardy artystyczno-literackiej. Charakter i skala tych relacji zostały przedstawione na przykładzie artystów grupy „a.r.” – Katarzyny Kobro, Władysława Strzemińskiego, Henryka Stażewskiego oraz Jana Brzękowskiego i ich kontaktów z przedstawicielami holenderskich i belgijskich formacji, m.in. grupy „De Stijl”. Pokrótce omówiono genezę tych relacji, ich naturę i przebieg oraz wpływ jaki wywarły na twórczość i teorie wybranych artystów. Opis owych zależności oparty został na archiwalnych dokumentach i publikacjach, z których wyłania się obraz bezpośrednich kontaktów – osobistych bądź korespondencyjnych – pomiędzy czołowymi artystami europejskiej awangardy, które przedstawiono także w formie diagramu ilustrującego niniejszy tekst.
