- The objective of this study was to learn to what degree the afforestations affected the seasonal dynamics and changes in population abundance of Anoplotrupes stercorosus (Hartm.). The beetles were caught in traps in the Człuchowska Primeval Forest in 1998−1999. A total of 51 814 individuals of A. stercorosus were caught. The obtained results have shown that the peak activity of this beetle falls on June and September, and the optimal habitat conditions are poletimber and mature stands. A. stercorosus colonised coniferous stands growing on former agricultural lands more frequently than the same stands growing on forest lands.
