    Artykuł omawia główne tezy esejów Charles’a Journeta, poświęconych tematyce mesjanizmu oraz polskiej kulturze narodowej. Trzy z nich ujrzały światło dzienne w polskim tłumaczeniu po raz pierwszy w 2017 roku. Stanowią one ciekawy epizod pozytywnej recepcji polskiego romantyzmu, zwłaszcza nurtu myśli religijnej i politycznej, jakim był mesjanizm. Niniejszy szkic odsłania sposób lektury teologa i metody jego postępowania z tekstem prelekcji Adama Mickiewicza. Rekonstruując myśl Journeta, wskazuje się tu na podstawowe błędy romantycznego mesjanizmu. Równocześnie podkreśla się wiele przesłanek świadczących o oryginalności założeń i postulatów zawartych w wykładach o literaturze słowiańskiej, z których najważniejsze dotyczą m.in. wątków obecnych we współczesnej społecznej nauce katolickiej.
    The article discusses the main theses of Charles Journet’s essays on messianism and Polish national culture. Three of them were first published in Polish translation in 2017. They represent an interesting episode of the positive reception of Polish romanticism, and especially the religious and political thought which messianism was. This article reveals how the Swiss theologian understood Mickiewicz’s work and presents his methods of reading it. Reconstructing Journet’s thought, the basic errors of romantic messianism are pointed out. On the other hand, a number of premises proving the originality of the assumptions and postulates contained in Mickiewicz’s lectures on Slavic literature are emphasized. The most important of them relate to threads present in contemporary Catholic social teaching.

    The article is a phenomenological approach to the phenomenon of nothing nessexperienced at the intersection of the spheres of religion and politics, on the example of Adam Mickiewicz's messianism. The essence of messianism of Polish poetis a metaphor as Poland as the Christ of nations understood not as literary fiction, but a real relationship between the Polish people and Christ, the relationship that its fulfilled in the establishing by Poland nation millenaristic realm of everlasting freedom. In messianism of polish poet one can capture two form through which nothingness reveals. The first one is forgetfulness of divine revelation penetrating the political sphere and exclusion from communion with God that constitute the realm of politics as a sphere of anti-divine, demonic. A second form is cleansing and separating force of nothingness in relation to the realm of sin, the power of nothingness, which appears as essential part of sanctification of Polish nation. Nothingness linked to religious-political sphere appears as anambivalent phenomenon, both negative and positive in its power.

    U radu se izlaže Mažuranićevo mladalačko bavljenje prevođenjem Adama Mickiewicza, što uključuje trojaku tematsku orijentaciju: najprije će se nastojati osvijetliti podrijetlo šest nepotpisanih prijevodnih fragmenata iz Mickiewiczeva djela Knjige poljskoga naroda i poljskoga hodočašća, tiskanih u »Danici« 1837., čije je autorstvo u literaturi bilo različito atribuirano. Mickiewiczevo je djelo imalo znatan odjek kod iliraca, a ti su ulomci najraniji prijevodi toga političkoga spisa među Južnim Slavenima. U prijevodu je riječ o proznim crticama koje su slobodna preradba izvornika, prilagođena hrvatskim prilikama, u cjelini vrlo uspjela, s vrsnim oponašanjem Mickiewiczeva biblijsko‑retoričkoga ritma. Pokušat će se dokumentirati Mažuranićevo poznavanje Mickiewiczeva djela i kroz možebitni izravan intertekstualni i književnopovijesno‑poetološki odnos između Mickiewiczeva političkoga spisa i Mažuranićeve brošure Hrvati Mađarom te zaključno elaborirati utjecaj poljskoga mesijanizma — u njegovoj inačici u Mickiewiczevu političkom spisu — na mladoga Mažuranića u ozračju preporodne Hrvatske.
    This paper presents Mažuranić’s early translations of Adam Mickiewicz, including the threefold thematic orientation: first we try to shed some light on the origin of six unsigned translation fragments from Mickiewicz’s The Books of the Polish People and of the Polish Pilgrimage, printed in “Danica” in 1837, whose authorship has been attributed differently in literature. Mickiewicz’s work had a significant impact on the Illyrians, and those fragments were the earliest translations of that political work among the South Slavs. The translation consists of a series of prose notes that are a free rewriting of the original, adapted to Croatian circumstances, and very successful as a whole, with an excellent imitation of Mickiewicz’s biblical‑rhetorical rhythm. We will document Mažuranić’s familiarity with Mickiewicz’s work through a possible direct intertextual and literary historic‑poetological relationship between Mickiewicz’s political writings and Mažuranić’s brochure Croats and Hungarians and finally elaborate on the influence of Polish messianism — in its variant found in Mickiewicz’s political writings — on the young Mažuranić in the atmosphere of the Croatian National Revival.

    Adam Mickiewicz’s Paris lectures and the idea of universal religionThe first half of nineteenth century in France brings the development of several currents of thought that are trying to find a solution to the problems affecting society in this period (pauperisation, crisis of traditional values, oppressed nations). Catholic traditionalists, Illuminati, utopian socialists and humanitarians often formulate the idea of a universal religion, derived from a primal revelation and evolving through the ages, or the idea of a new religion of the future. The aim of the article is to situate in that wider context Mickiewicz’s Paris Lectures and the convictions of the Polish poet on Slavic religion and Messianism. The text is divided into two parts, corresponding to the key aspects of the topic: the first part talks about the search for a revelation preceding the Judeo-Christian revelation, and the second one concerns the announcement of a new revelation, which completes and fulfills the former one. Prelekcje paryskie Adama Mickiewicza i idea religii uniwersalnejPierwsza połowa XIX wieku przynosi we Francji rozwój wielu nurtów usiłujących znaleźć rozwiązanie problemów trawiących społeczeństwo w tym okresie (pauperyzacja, kryzys tradycyjnych wartości, ucisk ludów europejskich). Katoliccy tradycjonaliści, iluminiści, socjaliści utopijni i humanitaryści często formułują ideę uniwersalnej religii, wywodzącej się z pierwotnego objawienia i rozwijającej się w procesie dziejowym, lub też ideę nowej religii przyszłości. Celem artykułu jest usytuowanie w tym kontekście prelekcji paryskich Adama Mickiewicza oraz poglądów polskiego wieszcza na temat religii Słowian i mesjanizmu. Tekst podzielony jest na dwie części, odpowiadające dwóm kluczowych aspektom zagadnienia: pierwsza część mówi o szukaniu objawienia poprzedzającego objawienie judeochrześcijańskie, druga zaś dotyczy zapowiedzi nowego objawienia, stanowiącego dopełnienie tego ostatniego.
