The article presents the idea of different single criterion and multi-criteria methods of analysis focusing on a method known as Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The modified version of the AHP method is presented. This modified method directly uses the performance parameters of the compared options creating “satisfaction function” used in the final analysis. The presented simple hypothetical example of road crossing traffic organisation shows the potential of the modified AHP method and HIPRE software. Additionally, the problem of many evaluating groups with different evaluation criteria is described.

W artykule przedstawiono opis oraz porównanie kryteriów wyboru lokalizacji farmy wiatrowej. Kryteria te uwzględniają pomiary wietrzności na rozpatrywanym terenie, lokalizację turbin wiatrowych, lokalizację linii elektroenergetycznej służącej do przesyłu wyprodukowanej energii elektrycznej od farmy wiatrowej do stacji elektroenergetycznej (GPZ), infrastrukturę towarzyszącą, warunki techniczne przyłączenia do sieci elektroenergetycznej oraz otoczenie projektu. Do porównania kryteriów zastosowano metodę AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) przyporządkowując skalę ocen preferencji od 1 do 9. Ustalony ranking kryteriów, biorący pod uwagę wpływ kryteriów na powodzenie projektu budowy farmy wiatrowej wskazał, że najważniejszym kryterium głównym jest kryterium związane z uzyskaniem decyzji o środowiskowych uwarunkowaniach dla obszaru farmy wiatrowej.
The article presents description and comparison of criteria used for choosing the localization of a wind farm. The criteria include measurements of wind kinetic energy on a given location, location of wind turbines, location of transmission line which is used for power transfer from wind farm to substation, location of local infrastructure and grid connection related witch technical requirements and project's environment. In order to compare the above mentioned criteria AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) method was used, with 1 to 9 point scale. As far as matching preferences with criteria is concerned it embraces issues of obtaining decisions and permissions. The aim of the article is to create a ranking of criteria in their correlation to probability of project success. After analysis indicated that the dominant influence on the time to obtain a permit for the construction of a wind farm is to obtain the environmental conditions for the wind farm area and obtaining issue terms of connection to the transmission grid.

There is a theory which meets a prescription of the efficient and effective multicriteria decision making support system called the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). It seems to be the most widely used approach in the world today, as well as the most validated methodology for decision making. The consistency measurement of human judgments appears to be the crucial problem in this concept. This research paper redefines the idea of the triad’s consistency within the pairwise comparison matrix (PCM) and proposes a few seminal indices for PCM consistency measurement. The quality of new propositions is then studied with application of computer simulations coded and run in Wolfram Mathematica 9.0.

The AHP method(Analytic Hierarchy Process), as a part of the Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) process, is one of the most used methods worldwide for dealing with the complexity of transport project evaluation. A level crossing (LC) is a place where road and rail cross. Therefore, LC is a place where there isa high risk of accidents.The aimof this study is to develop an AHP model for evaluating the alternatives for the reconstruction of LC in a congested urban environment through the weighting of various interdisciplinary criteria and sub-criteria. The AHP model considers six criteria:safety, traffic indicators of the functional efficiency, costs, social benefits, ecology, the time required for reconstruction of LC and their 15 sub-criteria. The model has been tested on LC Sokolska, located in the city of Zagreb, Croatia. Three possible alternatives were proposed to suit the location and the traffic conditions. The alternatives were evaluated according to the developed AHP model and the Expert Choice software package.Asensitivity analysis was performed to confirm the acceptability of the optimal solution.

The Kon Plong district is located in the northeast area of the Kon Tum province, where ethnic people, such as Xo Dang and Hre, are dominant. With the portion of the poor families accounting for more than 50% of the total households, the improvement in the livelihood of ethnic is an emergency. Among the approaches to enhance the economical situation in the mountainous area like Kon Plong, the sustainable utilization of natural resources to produce valuable products is a possibility. The Codonopsis javanica (Blume) Hook.f. & Thomson (native name in the Vietnamese language is Dang Sam) is a precious medicinal plant with many benefits in pharmacological uses for human health. In nature, C. javanica is favorably distributed in the template climate and high mountain area. On the basis of the multi-criteria analysis using AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) integrated GIS, the influence of climate factors and soil features in the Kon Plong district on the growth of C. javanica was evaluated. Using AHP evaluation, the four classes of adaptation thresholds (very suitable, suitable, less suitable and not suitable) between the C. javanica growth and climate or soil factors were determined and expressed in weight values. These adaptation values (weight values) were then exported to ecological adaptation maps using the GIS mapping system. The results showed that the most suitable area (called S1 and S2) for the cultivation of C. javanica could be an area of 77 ha, accounting for 55.8% of the study area. The area with high adaptability (S1) for growing C. javanica is mainly located in the Mang Den town and Mang But commune (the south area of the Kon Plong district). These study findings suggested that the growth of C. javanica is suitable in several places in Kon Plong and the production process of C. javanica probably promotes the exploitation of sustainable utilization of local medical plant biomass in the study area.

The study characterized the AHP method as a tool to support decision-making. The next section discusses the methodological issues conditioning to carry out proper economic experiment. It has been shown that the method of AHP is used in experimental economics. Empirical studies can also be conducted on the basis of various types of computer simulations.

This paper presents a study conducted using the Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA) to explore surface irrigation potential zones in the Didesa sub-basin of the Abay basin in Ethiopia. Physical land features, such as land use / land cover (LULC), slope, soil depth, drainage, and road proximity, along with climate factors like rainfall and evapotranspiration, and population density, were identified as criteria for the exploration. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is a powerful structured decision-making technique commonly used for complex multi-criteria analysis problems where multiple criteria need to be considered. The importance of the criteria was prioritised and ranked in the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Five qualitative-quantitative based surface irrigation potential zones were identified, namely highly suitable (48.40%), moderately suitable (27.26%), marginally suitable (13.27%), not suitable (4.91%), and irrigation constraints (6.16%). The consistency of the AHP technique in the exploration of surface irrigation potential zones is evaluated by the consistency index at CI = 0.011 and confirmed the correctness of weights assigned for the individual key factor in the AHP. The accuracy of the potential zones generated in the AHP was evaluated with ground-truth points and a supervised LULC classification map. Moreover, a good agreement was made among the classes with the kappa index (KI = 0.93). Therefore, the application of the MCA for the exploration of surface irrigation potential zones was successful, and the results of the study will be useful to strengthen the irrigation in the explored potential zones.

In the decision‐making process, both single‐ and multi‐criteria tasks are dealt with. In the majority of cases, the selection of a solution comes down to determination of the “best” decision (most often based on the subjective assessment) or to organisation of the set of decisions. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is one of the methods used for evaluation of qualitative features in the multi‐criteria optimisation processes. This article discusses the possibilities of using the above‐mentioned method, illustrated with an example of purchasing technical equipment for one of the municipal landfill sites in the Silesian Province.
W procesie podejmowania decyzji mamy do czynienia zarówno z zadaniami jedno- jak i wielokryterialnymi. W większości przypadków wybór rozwiązania sprowadza się do wyznaczenia „najlepszej” decyzji (najczęściej wg subiektywnej oceny), bądź też do uporządkowania zbioru decyzji. Metoda procesu hierarchi analitycznej (AHP) jest jedną z metod stosowanych do oceny cech jakościowych w procesach optymalizacji wielokryterialnej. W artykule omówiono możliwości zastosowania ww. metody na przykładzie zakupu wyposażenia technicznego jednego ze składowisk odpadów komunalnych zlokalizowanych na obszarze woj. śląskiego.

The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is the method that supports people’s decisions in the multi-criteria decision making problems. In this method the decision process is based on pairwise comparing of every two possible alternatives. The decision maker (DM) compares alternatives by choosing an appropriate “linguistic phrase” or a number from a proper set. This set of “linguistic phrases” and/or the numbers connected with them are referred to as the priority scale. There are several different scales that are described in literature and used in AHP practice. In dependence of the scale chosen by the DM, the final decisions might differ. In the AHP it is assumed that DMs make mistakes over comparing pairs of alternatives, but it was also observed that the assumed scale increases these errors as well. In our paper, we investigate the impact of the adopted scale to the number and magnitude of errors in the final decision. Our results show that the choice of the scale has a big impact on the final decision, so it is crucial part of AHP. It turns out that scales with bigger resource of options result in better evaluations of priority vectors.

Artykuł prezentuje możliwość wykorzystania wielokryterialnego grupowego podejmowania decyzji metodą AHP w podejmowaniu takich decyzji, w których przy dokonaniu właściwego wyboru musimy rozpatrzyć różne warianty, oceniając je według różnych kryteriów. Musimy więc posiadać wiedzę na ich temat, nie zawsze podaną w sposób ilościowy, a ocena powinna być względnie obiektywna, czyli niezależna od preferencji i opinii pojedynczego decydenta. W artykule przedstawiono metodę wykorzystania grupowego AHP w celu sklasyfikowania projektów zgłoszonych do realizacji w ramach budżetu obywatelskiego. Klasyfikacja ta pozwoli określić, które z projektów zdaniem ekspertów będą miały największy wpływ na zrównoważony rozwój miasta, a co za tym idzie – powinny być „wskazane” mieszkańcom jako te lepsze wśród projektów zgłoszonych.
The article presents the possibility of using multi-criteria group decision making using AHP in making such decisions in which in order to make the right choice, we must consider different variants of assessing them according to various criteria. Therefore, we need to possess knowledge about them, which is not always given in a quantitative manner, and the evaluation should be relatively objective that is independent of the preferences and opinions of a single decision-maker. The article presents a method of using group AHP in order to classify the projects submitted for implementation under the civil budget. This classification will determine which of the projects, according to experts, will have the greatest impact on sustainable development of the city, and thus should be “pointed” to the inhabitants as the ones that are better among the projects submitted.

Pioneers of the digital era have invented a different business model and expanded the existence of the digital economy, and the digital entrepreneurship is the beginning of this digital revolution. To explore the key characteristics of digital entrepreneurs, this study is divided into two stages. The first stage conducted a literature review and case study to construct the characteristic elements of the entrepreneurship into a model of digital entrepreneurs. In the second stage, the relative weights of the key characteristics of digital entrepreneurs are understood through an analysis of the AHP questionnaire results. The results show that autonomy and selfdiscipline are keys among the main dimensions of the key characteristics of digital entrepreneurs' entrepreneurship; the secondary dimension of "action power" is key in the main dimension of "autonomy and self-discipline"; the secondary dimension of "business networks" is key in the main dimension of "social capital"; the secondary dimension of "insight" is key in the main dimension of "innovation and breakthrough"; the secondary dimension of "communication ability" is key in the main dimension of "leadership communication".

Over the past twenty years, the number of vehicles registered in Poland has grown rapidly. At the same time, a relatively small increase in the length of the road network has been observed. As a result of the limited capacity of available infrastructure, it leads to significant congestion and to increase of the probability of road accidents. The overall level of road safety depends on many factors - the behavior of road users, infrastructure solutions and the development of automotive technology. Thus the detailed assessment of the importance of individual elements determining road safety is difficult. The starting point is to organize the factors by grouping them into categories which are components of the DVE system (driver - vehicle - environment). In this work, to analyze the importance of individual factors affecting road safety, the use of analytic hierarchy process method (AHP) was proposed. It is one of the multi-criteria methods which allows us to perform hierarchical analysis of the decision process, by means of experts’ opinions. Usage of AHP method enabled us to evaluate and rank the factors affecting road safety. This work attempts to link the statistical data and surveys in significance analysis of the elements determining road safety.
Na przestrzeni ostatnich dwudziestu lat liczba pojazdów rejestrowanych w Polsce dynamicznie rośnie. Jednocześnie obserwowany jest stosunkowo niewielki wzrost długości sieci drogowej. W wyniku ograniczonej przepustowości dostępnej infrastruktury prowadzi to do znacznego zatłoczenia i zwiększenia prawdopodobieństwa wystąpienia zdarzeń drogowych. Na ogólny poziom BRD wpływa wiele czynników – zachowania uczestników ruchu, rozwiązania dotyczące infrastruktury, a także rozwój techniki motoryzacyjnej. Szczegółowa ocena istotności poszczególnych elementów determinujących stan BRD jest więc trudna. Punktem wyjścia jest uporządkowanie czynników przez grupowanie do kategorii skumulowanych stanowiących składowe systemu UPO (uczestnik ruchu drogowego – pojazd – otoczenie). W niniejszym artykule do analizy istotności poszczególnych czynników wpływających na stan BRD zaproponowano wykorzystanie metody analitycznego procesu hierarchicz-nego (AHP). Jest to jedna z metod wielokryterialnych, która pozwala na hierarchiczną analizę problemu decyzyjnego na podstawie opinii eksperckich. Wykorzystanie metody AHP umożliwiło ocenę i uszeregowanie czynników wpływających na stan bezpie-czeństwa ruchu drogowego. Artykuł stanowi próbę powiązania danych statystycznych i ankietowych w ramach analizy istotności elementów determinujących BRD.

The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is perhaps the most popular approach to decision-making problems of prioritization. The basis of the AHP is pairwise comparison, which is used to compare alternatives. This comparisons are provided by decision makers usually as linguistic expressions which are next converted to numbers from a fixed set called a scale. The influence of the scale on the quality of prioritization was investigated in a number of papers. One of the most important types of judgment scale is the Geometric Scale. Its elements depend on specific parameters. In this paper, the impact of the choice of this scale’s parameters on errors in priority vectors and on values of the inconsistency indices is studied via Monte Carlo simulations.

In training process of rail traffic manager (controller) using virtual reality technology, selection of activities among those assigned to a workplace and scenarios that should be taken in training is an important issue. The selection method that is based on performance variability of her/his activities has been proposed in the paper. This variability has been characterized by timing and precision. The traditional reliability and safety analysis methods are not sufficient when building the training program for traffic managers. In the paper the train controller work has been modelled using Functional Resonance Analysis Method (FRAM) that is system oriented approach. Scales of values of timing and precision that are train transport driven have been presented. They are different when comparing with typical timing and precision scales given in FRAM literature. In the paper the estimation of probabilities of occurring of values of timing and precision scales for these activities has been calculated as the mean from the values obtained by questionnaire done in traffic manager community or using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. In FRAM with AHP approaches presented in literature, AHP pairwise comparison is executed using natural numbers and their reciprocals what is typical in AHP method. In our paper the AHP is used for estimating the probabilities, so in pairwise comparing the rational numbers are applied, because natural numbers and their reciprocals would limit the set of values of probabilities. The activities and scenarios that the training should be concentrated on are selected from those with the greatest variability.

The purpose of this paper is to explore various challenges a real estate development company may face during post-merger integration. Analytic hierarchy process (AHP) has been used to prioritize the barriers linked to mergers in the real estate companies in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). An AHP model was developed with 5 criteria and 29 sub-criteria based on the previous literature. Data were collected through interviews of 6 experts who were involved in the merger process of 2 major real estate development companies in the UAE. The data collected were interpreted and a priority vector was assigned to each criterion and sub-criterion. The findings reveal that strategy, business plan and budget followed by the training are the key challenges that is encountered during the post-merger in the UAE based real estate companies. Results are derived from a limited amount of empirical data only in one country; therefore, these cannot be generalized. This study provides an important technique for analyzing the barriers linked to mergers in real estate development companies which are considered as one of the economic engine of the UAE.
Celem artykułu jest zbadanie różnych wyzwań, przed jakimi staje firma deweloperska podczas integracji po fuzji. Proces hierarchii analitycznej (AHP) został wykorzystany do ustalenia priorytetów barier związanych z fuzjami w spółkach nieruchomości w Zjednoczonych Emiratach Arabskich (ZEA). W oparciu o przegląd literatury, opracowano model AHP z 5 kryteriami i 29 podkryteriami. Dane zebrano w wywiadach z 6 ekspertami, którzy byli zaangażowani w proces fuzji dwóch dużych firm deweloperskich w Zjednoczonych Emiratach Arabskich. Zebrane dane zostały zinterpretowane i do każdego kryterium i podkryterium został przypisany wektor priorytetowy. Badania wskazują, że strategia, biznes plan i budżet, po których następuje szkolenie, są kluczowymi wyzwaniami, które napotykają podczas fuzji w spółkach deweloperskich w Zjednoczonych Emiratach Arabskich. Wyniki pochodzą z ograniczonej ilości danych empirycznych z jednego kraju dlatego nie można ich uogólnić. Badanie to stanowi ważną technikę analizy barier związanych z fuzjami w firmach deweloperskich, które są uważane za jeden z ekonomicznych motorów ZEA.
