Opis:
Electrolytic Ni-Mo alloy coatings were obtained from the galvanic bath, at the temperature of T= 60°C under galvanostatic conditions using a cathodic current density of j= 80 mA cm¯². Surface morphology was studied using a scanning electron microscopy. Chemical composition of obtained coatings was determined by the energy dispersive spectroscopy. Structural studies were carried out using an X-ray diffraction method. Electrochemical corrosion resistance tests were carried out in 5% NaCl solution. It was found that X-ray diffraction investigations of all obtained coatings showed the characteristic "halo", which suggests that the obtained deposits have an amorphous structure. Chemical composition and corrosion resistance of the electrolytic Ni-Mo coatings depend on the concentration of Na₂MoO₄· 2H₂O in a galvanic bath. With the increase of the molybdenum content in the alloy coatings, their corrosion resistance increases.

Opis:
High velocity oxygen fuel sprayed stainless steel coatings have been widely used in various industries to repair damaged components. However, its broad application is limited due to its comparatively low hardness and inferior tribological properties. In this work, electroless Ni-P/Ni-B duplex coating with a thickness of ≈ 40 μm was deposited on surfaces of HVOF-sprayed 420 martensitic stainless steel substrate, and its structural, corrosion and tribological properties were characterized. Experimental results showed that upper Ni-B coating deposited on the surface of first Ni-P layer by duplex treatment exhibited superior hardness, wear and corrosion resistances as compared to the HVOF-sprayed 420 martensitic stainless steel coating with a thickness of about 150 μm.

Opis:
In the present study, the corrosion behaviors of chromium aluminum nitride (CrAlN) and titanium aluminum nitride (TiAlN) coatings deposited on AISI D2 steel samples are reported. Steel samples were pre-nitrided at 575C for 8 h in the first step of the coating process, and then TiAlN and CrAlN coatings were performed by thermoreactive deposition process in a powder mixture consisting of alumina, ammonium chloride, aluminum and ferrous titanium or ferrous chromium for TiAlN or CrAlN, respectively. Coating treatments were realized at 1000C for 2 h. Coated samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and microhardness tester. The corrosion properties of uncoated and coated samples were characterized by potentiostatic polarization test. CrAlN and TiAlN coated steel specimens exhibited the higher corrosion resistance than uncoated steels in a 0.5 M NaCl solution.
