Opis:
We extend the theory of spin-wave resonance (SWR) by introducing a new formula representing the surface pinning parameter as a series of contributions from different anisotropies existing in (Ga,Mn)As thin films. Comparing our theory with the reported experimental studies of SWR in thin films of the ferromagnetic semiconductor (Ga,Mn)As, we find that besides the first-order cubic anisotropy, higher-order cubic anisotropies (in the second and third orders) as well as uniaxial anisotropies (perpendicular in the first and second orders, and in-plane diagonal) occur on the surface of this material. To our best knowledge this is the first report of the existence of higher-order surface anisotropy fields in (Ga,Mn)As thin films.

A spin-wave resonance technique was used to collect information on elementary magnon excitations in high quality epitaxial La$\text{}_{0.7}$Mn$\text{}_{1.3}$O$\text{}_{2.84}$ films prepared by dc-magnetron sputtering. It was found that besides bulk spin-wave modes, the spin-wave resonance spectrum includes also the surface spin waves. The value of spin-wave stiffness constant D=156 meV·Å$\text{}^{2}$ was found. The values of the surface magnetic anisotropy on both surfaces and their angular dependence were determined. The experimentally found spin-wave resonance spectra were explained based on the surface-inhomogeneity model. The effect of surface anisotropy on the spin-wave excitation conditions in epitaxial La$\text{}_{0.7}$Mn$\text{}_{1.3}$O$\text{}_{2.84}$ films was investigated. Spin-wave resonance data give an indirect evidence of periodic charge-ordered stripes formation.

Opis:
The reported measurements of the angular dependence of ferromagnetic resonance spectra and their theoretical interpretation lead to the observation that a discrepancy occurs between the theory and the experiment in certain ranges of the configuration angle. This disagreement cannot be eliminated within the Smit-Beljers model commonly used in the literature for the description of ferromagnetic resonance in thin films since the main ferromagnetic resonance line observed in thin films is not necessarily associated with the excitation of a uniform mode, as the Smit-Beljers model does assume for bulk samples. Instead, we associate this line with the excitation of a surface mode or the thin-film principal nonuniform mode. By taking into account the occurrence of a surface spin-pinning anisotropy, this assumption allows to obtain an agreement between the theoretical description of the ferromagnetic resonance and the experimental data in the whole range of angular configuration of the external field. As an example, on the basis of this modified ferromagnetic resonance model, we make some observations on the angular resonant dependence in uniaxial thin films.

PTMO-block-PET polymer filled with a low concentration (0.1 wt.%) of binary magnetic system: magnetite (Fe$\text{}_{3}$O$\text{}_{4}$) and iron carbide (Fe$\text{}_{3}$C) with carbon (C) was prepared. Characterization of the sample was done by using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy methods. Temperature dependence of the FMR spectra was carried out in the 10-300 K temperature range. The extraordinary temperature dependence behaviour of FMR spectra was recorded. The FMR spectra were fitted by two Lorentzian lines originating from magnetite and iron carbide. The anomalous behaviour of FMR spectra below 100 K could be explained by the skin effect or by the freezing of the matrix benzene rings at about 115 K. The temperature dependence of the g parameter below 75.5 K (opposite shift of the resonance field to usually observed) was interpreted as a result of strong antiferromagnetic interaction of some portion of agglomerates.

General theory of nonlinear ferromagnetic resonance is presented for samples with the usual magnetostatic and exchange boundary conditions imposed at the sample surface. In such samples the Suhl instabilities and other nonlinear effects occur due to nonlinear interactions of magnetostatic or dipole-exchange modes. All relevant types of interactions are included in the Hamiltonian: with the pumping field, three- and four-mode ones. Analytic calculation of the Suhl thresholds in the three possible types of instabilities in perpendicular and parallel pumping is performed for the sample in the shape of a thin slab.

Opis:
A review of experimental studies of magnon excitations in manganites is presented. Two kinds of techniques: the inelastic neutron scattering (in bulk materials) and the microwave resonance (in thin films) are considered. Experimental studies of spin dynamics by inelastic neutron scattering in metallic ferromagnetic manganites have shown that at low temperature for small wave vectors k → 0 the dispersion relation has a quadratic shape similar to that observed in Heisenberg ferromagnets. However, the above technique although very informative can be used only for sufficiently large samples of bulk materials. A complementary microwave resonance technique allows studying not only bulk properties, but also surface properties. There are two main theoretical approaches used to interpret the spin wave resonance spectra: the volume inhomogeneity and the surface inhomogeneity models. The last one introduced by Puszkarski has allowed for interpretation of the observed surface magnon excitations in thin films.

Opis:
Spin-wave resonance is a newly emerged method for studying surface magnetic anisotropy and surface spin-wave modes in (Ga,Mn)As thin films. The existence of surface spin-wave modes in (Ga,Mn)As thin films has recently been reported in the literature; surface spin-wave modes have been observed in the in-plane configuration (with variable azimuth angle $\phi_M$ between the in-plane magnetization of the film and the surface [100] crystal axis), in the azimuth angle range between two in-plane critical angles $\phi_{c1}$ and $\phi_{c2}$. We show here that cubic surface anisotropy is an essential factor determining the existence conditions of the above-mentioned surface spin-wave modes: conditions favorable for the occurrence of surface spin-wave modes in a (Ga,Mn)As thin film in the in-plane configuration are fulfilled for those azimuth orientations of the magnetization of the sample that lie around the hard axes of cubic magnetic anisotropy. This implies that a hard cubic anisotropy axis can be regarded in (Ga,Mn)As thin films as an easy axis for surface spin pinning.

Using cavity ferromagnetic resonance and vector network analyzer ferromagnetic resonance unidirectional, uniaxial and rotatable anisotropies were determined in permalloy(30 nm)/NiMn(56 nm). Resonance field dependence on in-plane angle clearly shows unidirectional and uniaxial anisotropy. Rotatable anisotropy, which acts as internal magnetic field independent of a direction of external magnetic field, is observed on vector network analyzer ferromagnetic resonance as upward shift of the resonance frequency of Py/NiMn compared to Py film. Even for a small exchange bias field, this shift is significantly large.

The main purpose of this paper is to promote the use of interval calculus in physics. As an example we use the system consisting of two thin films, one ferromagnetic and another one antiferromagnetic, deposited one atop of the other. We successfully and accurately simulate the positions of resonance fields of such a system, as seen in ferromagnetic resonance experiment. Interval calculations have revealed the presence of 1, 2 and sometimes even 4 distinct equilibrium configurations of the system, all corresponding to the same resonance field, when the field has a component antiparallel to that of cooling field, while only 1 such position when it points in the opposite direction. In both cases only a single resonance line is observed. As an added value we show that the exchange-biased system is in the metastable state, out of true thermodynamical equilibrium.

Opis:
In this work we report results of ferromagnetic resonance studies of a 6% 15nm (Ga,Mn)As layer, deposited on (001)-oriented GaAs. The measurements were performed with in-plane oriented magnetic field, in the temperature range between 5 K and 120 K. We observe a temperature induced reorientation of the effective in-plane easy axis from $[\overline{1}10]$ to [110] direction close to the Curie temperature. The behavior of magnetization is described by anisotropy fields, $H_{eff}$ (=4π $M-H_{2⊥}$), $H_{2∥},$ and $H_{4∥}$. In order to precisely investigate this reorientation, numerical values of anisotropy fields have been determined using powerful - but still largely unknown - interval calculations. In simulation mode this approach makes possible to find all the resonance fields for arbitrarily oriented sample, which is generally intractable analytically. In "fitting" mode we effectively utilize full experimental information, not only those measurements performed in special, distinguished directions, to reliably estimate the values of important physical parameters as well as their uncertainties and correlations.
