Opis:: Bezwładne masy kotwiczące są urządzeniami przeznaczonymi do ochrony przed upadkiem z wysokości. Umożliwiają zamocowanie indywidualnego systemu ochronnego, w miejscach, gdzie brak jest odpowiednich do tego celu elementów konstrukcji stałej. Na skuteczne powstrzymywanie spadania człowieka przez tego typu urządzenie kotwiczące ma wpływ zarówno tarcie „masy” o podłoże, jak i pochłanianie energii zachodzące wewnątrz jej konstrukcji.
A deadweight is a device designed for protecting against falls from a height. It makes anchoring a personal protective system possible in places without anchor points that are part of the original structure. The efficiency of fall arresting with a protective system with such an anchor device depends on both the friction of the deadweight against the surface of the structure and the energy absorbed inside the deadweight.

Opis:: Sprzęt uniemożliwiający rozpoczęcie spadania należy do kategorii środków ochrony indywidualnej przeznaczonych do ochrony pracowników przed upadkiem z wysokości. Ideą jego stosowania jest uniemożliwienie osiągnięcia przez użytkownika strefy zagrożonej upadkiem z wysokości. W skład każdego systemu uniemożliwiającego rozpoczęcie spadania wchodzą: punkt kotwiczenia, podzespół łączący i uprząż bezpieczeństwa. W artykule omówiono ideę stosowania, podstawowe zasady doboru poszczególnych składników oraz przykłady zastosowań.
Equipment for preventing falls from a height belongs to the category of personal protective equipment. Preventing the user from reaching a position where a fall can occur is the most important idea of applying this kind of equipment. The system for preventing falls from a height consists of an anchor device, a connecting component and body support. The paper presents the idea of use, methods of selecting components and examples of use.

Opis:: Retractable type fall arresters are very effective personal equipment protecting against falls from a height. These devices are used under different atmospheric conditions and in the presence of various types of industrial pollution. For this reason appropriate locking after conditioning simulating extreme conditions of a worksite is one of the essential characteristics of retractable type fall arresters. This article presents the requirements for locking of the devices. A previously used locking test method and its disadvantages are discussed. The article suggests an improved test method and test equipment. Measurement of the test mass acceleration is the most important improvement introduced into the test method. The article shows laboratory tests used to verify the method, which turned out to be a valuable source of information concerning the performance of retractable type fall arresters.

Opis:: Retractable type fall arresters are part of the equipment used for protecting people against falls from a height. They are an intermediate part between full body harness worn by a man and the structural anchor at the worksite. The most important task of retractable type fall arresters is to arrest people’s falls and to reduce their harmful consequences. Information received from users as well as laboratories testing protective equipment indicates that the performance of such equipment is incorrect under specific conditions. The paper is concerned with an analysis of the conditions in which retractable type fall arresters demonstrate intermittent performance and with an explanation of that phenomenon. The results of tests investigating anchor devices and the performance of retractable type fall arresters are presented. External and internal factors contributing to intermittent performance have been determined and guidelines for safer use of these devices have been developed.
