The article attempts to indicate the direction of ERP class information systems development. From the beginning, these systems have been changing and evolving. Along with the development of requirements and changes on the market, solutions known as ERP II and ERP III were created. Currently, these systems use a process approach. Three basic types of systems can be distinguished: ERP systems supporting processes, process-oriented ERP systems and process ERP systems. The considerations in the article are based on the Macrologic Merit ERP system, which not only supports processes, has a built-in modeler but also allows full service of processes in the system. The paper is dedicated to the Knowledge Management Information Systems (KMIS) as support tools for knowledge workers (KWs) activities. The general aim of the paper is to analyze the currently used systems and find out whether they meet all the requirements of KWs in the Knowledge Management (KM) process. To clarify the subjects of the research, the notions KWs and KMIS are presented in the form of concept maps. To specify the demands of KWs as for the software tools that assist them in the process of KM, the typology of KWs tasks was developed. Operation of the KMIS is examined from the point of view of their compatibility with the tasks and actions performed by KWs – in order to enhance functionality of the existing systems. The systems are divided into groups, each of them matched with a particular KM task. A case study of the open-source platform Moodle is given as a justification of the fact that support quality of KMIS presently requires improvements

Opis:
An important role in an organization is played by the management information system that enables managers to perform management tasks. The pillar of this system is financial and non-financial data provided by the management accounting system. The effect of the application of specific management accounting tools are various types of studies and analyses, defined in internal reports, which are the basis for management, and thus making decisions by managers. Internal reports, in order to fulfil their functions effectively, must have appropriate features as to its structure, content and other properties. In connection with this, the authors studied and presented an assessment of managers from Poland and Romania in the context of such properties of internal reports as quality, content, presentation and comments. The survey method was used as the research method, while the analysis of collected research material was based on cluster analysis and descriptive statistics. The sample consisted of 154 questionnaires. The findings are similar in both countries, although in the case of Romania, managers who assessed highly the quality and content of internal reports, and evaluated slightly lower the presentations and comments.

Opis:
The definition of the structure of knowledge in controlling sub-system in integrated management computer support system is presented in this paper.In the first part of the article, a controlling sub-system is characterized. Next, the formal definition of knowledge structure is presented. This structure can be used, for example, to verify and compare heterogenous knowledge generated by using different methods of analysis. The final part describes an example of use of elaborated structure in practice, related to the operation of the prototype of controlling subsystem in the enterprise operating in the financial sector, which focusses on deleveraging of hospitals.

The aim of the paper is to present the current state of cloud computing solutions application in the management of a contemporary business organization. The author outlined such theoretical aspects of cloud computing solutions as its key concept and architecture, and the benefits resulting from its implementation in contemporary companies and enterprises. The article presents the vendor perspective of cloud computing services utilization in business organizations prepared on the basis of case studies, practical examples and an international research review. The research presenting the user perspective on cloud computing usage was based on the opinions of 100 respondents of cloud computing services and indicated the pros and cons resulting from the implementation and application of this solution which allowed to indicate not only its benefits but also its limitations.

The purpose of this article is to present the results of research on the directions of the development of integrated management information systems. The authors took especially into account the functionality of systems and technology solutions. The survey was sent to the leading MRPII/ERP producers on the Polish market. Findings allowed to identify future trends in the development of MRPII/ERP systems for the years 2013-2015: Business Analytics, Business Intelligence, access to the system through a web browser, management dashboards, Cloud Computing and virtualization of data, mobile technology and tools for business processes modeling in ERP systems.

In the context of decreasing importance of the material resources provided by the company achieving competitive advantage it is to discover and use their distinctive competencies and creating valuable intangible assets. Intangible assets such as knowledge, experience or skills, enable the company to run effective instruments of competition, including by creating unique partnerships, which are the most important link in the competitive struggle. However, to be effective, these relations must be characterized by mutual trust. A key part of creating the credibility of the company in the market is implemented information security management system. These considerations were the basis to take issues related to the implementation of innovative solutions for the protection and security of information in the logistics companies operating in the region of Lodz. The reflections and conclusions of the research can help to identify key areas where companies using the tools of information security management can achieve measurable benefits and create a competitive advantage in relation to other entities.

The article presents the usage of OPC standard on all levels of integration of manufacturing management subsystem at the integrated management information system. The structure of manufacturing management subsystem, with taking into consideration MES, SCADA and PLC systems, is presented in the first part of the article. Next, the most often used technological standards of integration on system and application levels are characterized. The final part of the article presents using OPC standard, with taking into particular consideration the specification of OPC Unified Architecture, in order to integrate manufacturing management subsystem on the system, application and business process level. This integration allows the data flow in real time to all subsystems of integrated management information system, what has a significant impact on the efficiency of the functioning of an enterprise.

The measure of availability that is often used to compare the dependability of computer-based systems is imperfect, insofar as two systems with the same availability can display quite different performance characteristics. Here we develop a new fractal temporal measure for work effort that offers insights into a system’s performance not captured by the traditional availability measure. Moreover, we show that this fractal measure can be used to compare the temporal work patterns of both human and artificial agents and identify their unique strengths and weaknesses. Such new comparative tools will become increasingly important as the development of more sophisticated artificial agent technologies creates situations in which particular functions within an organization can be carried out either by human or artificial personnel.

The article is devoted to the problem of using information technologies in themanagement of the municipal housing stock. In particular the impact of the use of these technologieson the effectiveness of the recovery of overdue municipal receivables due to the leaseof communal premises and the improvement in the living and financial situation of the tenantswas analyzed. In order to demonstrate the practical use of information technologies in managingthe municipal housing stock and their effectiveness in the aforementioned area, the exampleof the electronic search engine for exchanging apartments, which was launched by theDepartment of Housing Management Social Housing Association in Czestochowa LLC(ZGM TBS Sp. z o.o.), was used. The article also discusses the influence of the search engineon credit management of the Municipality of Czestochowa and on the effectiveness of usingits housing stock, as well as using the engine as a tool in debt relief programs for the tenants.In addition to the indicated issues, the article characterizes the systemic status of municipalitiesand their tasks in the management of their housing stock, as well as in meeting the housingneeds of the local community. The main purpose of the article is to indicate the positive influenceof the applied technologies on debt restructuring and on increasing the subjectivity andindividuality of tenants

The purpose of the paper is twofold. First, this study briefly analyzes the new non- -financial reporting requirements implemented in Polish Accounting Act. Second, it investigates the current state of CSR reporting in commercial banks listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange and its connection with the new requirements. The sample consists of 12 banks. The data were collected in December 2016 covering three communication channels: annual reports (including management commentary), separate CSR reports in PDF files and information from the companies’ web sites. A content analysis and Likert scale were used to measure the level of CSR disclosures in five categories namely: environment, labor practices, human rights, community involvement and anti-corruption. Disclosures on business model was also examined. The results of the study show that banks prefer annuals reports rather than CSR reports or websites to communicate voluntary CSR disclosures. In most cases the disclosures in the areas: community involvement, environment and labor practices have already met the requirements of the amended Polish Accounting Act. The level of reporting in the areas: human rights and the fight against corruption is insufficient under the new regulations.

The aim of this paper is to identify the role of projects in the development of innovative company on the example of selected innovative enterprises from Lower Silesia. The enterprise selected for the research was the Samorządowy Informator SMS Sp. z o.o., which provides five main e-services. Each of those was designed basing on project management methodology and is a response for the market needs. The article presents the development of selected e-services and the enterprise development that could be reached through these e-services. Orientation for projects is one of the pillars to implement company’s strategy. The analysis of the enterprise indicates that ability to create e-services as well as effective project portfolio management helps in company’s development on a competitive market.

The aim of this paper was to present the results of an evaluation of the effect of knowledge-oriented management and level of information technology on the operational effectiveness in Polish hospitals. The data were collected using a questionnaire survey carried out among managers in Polish hospitals. Structural modelling was employed to analyse the data collected. The structural model proposed in the study turned out to fit the data very well, thus demonstrating the positive and cause-and-effect correlations between the level of IT, knowledge-oriented management and operational effectiveness in Polish hospitals.
