    Opis:
    The involvement in various forms of non-work activities of persons aged 50 and over in Poland is discussed in this paper. The range of participation is compared to other European countries. The presented considerations indicate that the Polish generation 50+ is characterized by a very high level of inactivity, particularly in the field of volunteering, charity and clubs membership. On the other hand, the involvement in religious organizations is very high. Such factors as age, gender and state of health have a significant impact on the participation in certain activities. Crucial importance may be also assigned to the unfavorable financial situation.

    It is believed that the ad valorem tax will increase fiscal burdens. In order to verify this statement, with the use of the Szczecin Algorithm of Real Estates Mass Appraisal, the land plots were appraised and the ad valorem tax was calculated. Next, a training set was sampled, for which the composite variable was calculated by means of three approaches: the TOPSIS method, the Generalised Distance Measure as the composite measure of development (GDM2), and the quasi-TOPSIS. They were the explanatory variables in the logistic regression model. Next, for the test set, changes of tax burden were forecasted. The aim of the research was to check the effectiveness of the presented approach for the estimation of the consequences of introducing the ad valorem tax. The results showed that all three approaches yielded similar results, but GDM2 was the best one. The main finding is that these approaches can be used in the prediction of changes in the tax burden of land plots.

    Economic poverty is one of the more common and complex problems in the modern world, as well as in Poland. This is a complex and multidimensional phenomenon, and therefore there is no single universally valid definition of poverty. This article presents a statistical analysis of economic poverty in Poland based on real data from the Central Statistical Office of Poland. An in-depth statistical analysis of the social situation of Poles will be presented, as well as an attempt to examine interdependencies in the occurrence of various forms of poverty and social exclusion in Poland. In the article, several multivariate statistical methods are presented together with the graphical presentation of results. We present a correspondence analysis with a perception map, as well as the advanced modern visualizing tool for categorical data. All the calculations were conducted using R software.

    In this article the author attempts to define, parameterize, evaluate and conduct a synthetic analysis of development potential in the area of the regional real estate market. The scope of analysis was defined according to the methodology of real estate quantification accepted by the Central Statistical Office. The Central Statistical Office in defining the process of the real estate market distinguished four research areas. These are the following: planning permissions which were issued, apartments which are under construction, apartments put into use and sales of building-assembly production executed by construction companies. The conducted research enables to evaluate the development of particular provinces in the area of the real estate market. The above mentioned evaluation, which depicts the potential of the regional residential market, is the starting point for the synthetic analysis of the obtained results. Simultaneously it enables to indicate changes in the development potential of local real estate markets.

    The paper aimed at identifying the effects of the coincidence of socio-economic status and the advancement of the family life cycle on the savings rate. The multilevel regression model for data from empirical surveys was used. The obtained results allow us to explain how the differentiation of the saving rate that causes a poor fit of LCH models to the observed reality occurs. Ascribed to this differentiation is the explanation that allows us to reduce the area of unpredictability of the savings rate. These results show that the social representations of saving characteristic for various socio-economic groups are crucial factors that explain the variability of the savings rate, moderating its sensitivity to the demographic factors as defined in the economic theory. Moderation leads to two different tendencies. The first occurs among the households of a relatively low status and lies in the extension of consumption along with age, and it is stronger the lower the status of the household head is. The second, completely reverse, is present among households of a relatively high social status. The contraction of the time horizon of consumption manifests among these households, and it is stronger the higher the socio-economic status of a household head is.

    Celem artykułu jest analiza możliwości wykorzystania elementów wielowymiarowej analizy porównawczej do budowy narzędzia umożliwiającego kompleksową ocenę kompetencji danej osoby i porównania tej oceny do wymagań stawianych w konkretnej sytuacji zawodowej. Ilustracją takich możliwości jest prezentacja narzędzia do oceny kompetencji oraz formułowania propozycji rozwojowych przygotowanego w międzynarodowym projekcie Go4FutureSkills. Profil kompetencji został zdefiniowany jako zbiór kompetencji pożądanych, z przypisanym do każdego z nich poziomem wiedzy lub umiejętności wymaganych dla danego zawodu/stanowiska. Utworzona w ten sposób macierz kompetencji służy jako podstawa do porównania wyników uzyskiwanych przez osoby korzystające z narzędzia. Narzędzie w obecnej formie może być wykorzystywane dla studentów i absolwentów kierunków i specjalności logistycznych, a także dla pracowników branży logistycznej.

    The aim of the paper is to assess the potential for using some selected PCA-based methods to analyze the spatial diversity of crime in Poland during 2000-2017. Classical principal components analysis (PCA) deals with two-way matrices, usually taking into account objects and variables. In the case of data analyzed in the study, apart from two dimensions (objects – voivodships, variables – criminal offences), there is also the dimension of time, so the dataset can be seen as data cube: objects × variables × time. Therefore, this type of data requires the use of methods handling three-way data structures. In the paper the variability of some selected categories of criminal offences in time (2000- -2017) and space (according to voivodships) is analyzed using the between-class and the within-class principal component analysis. The advantage of these methods is, among others, the possibility of the graphical presentation of the results in two-dimensional space with the use of factorial maps.

    The diversity and multiplicity of information associated with investment in the stock market can cause problems with the proper understanding of the analyzed phenomena. In particular it refers to small investors who invest directly in stocks. Therefore, evaluating the financial condition of listed companies is very important, hence the need to use methods that will simplify and thus make stock market analysis easier. This paper presents an attempt to apply the selected financial ratios for the classification of 17 real estate companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange into groups characterized by a similar economic condition. In the study multidimensional comparative analysis was used, i.e. Ward’s method and the method of k-means. The analysis was carried out in the period 2010-2012. In the experiment it was proved that using Ward’s method could identify companies with the weakest condition.

    The article presents the results of study of investment attractiveness of food sector companies listed at the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The multivariate statistical methods are applied to evaluate the financial standing of companies. The author constructs the investment attractiveness index that is used to order companies by their economic and financial standing. Based on the values of investment attractiveness index the structure of optimal portfolios are determined according to Markowitz portfolio theory. The results of survey indicate directions of investment portfolio diversification.

    The risk of consumer behaviour, as a part of the widely understood studies on risk, is still an uncharted and undiscovered area of human activity. The main goal of this paper is to draw attention to the issue of the measurement of risk perceived by the consumers` unsuccessful purchase, as well as presenting a multidimensional analysis of data on risk research perceived by consumers in the decision making process. Some of the well-known multivariate methods are presented: analysis of variance, correspondence analysis and some graphical methods for categorical data analysis, such as mosaic, sieve, association and doubledecker plot. In the paper, the qualitative analysis aimed at risk identification and interpretation in the decisions process of consumers will be conducted. The exploration of different types of risks and the influence on consumer behaviour will be identified. The perception of risk was examined based on the examples of food, home appliances and travel services (trips, holidays).

    Green growth is a new approach to the economy that assumes the efficient use of raw materials while minimizing the negative impact on the environment. The aim of the study is to assess green growth in the European Union countries in 2019. For this purpose, secondary data was used and a multidimensional analysis of sustainable development was performed. The non-pattern model together with the Hellwig and Ward methods were implemented. This enabled a comparison between countries, and their classification due to a similar level of development. Based on the analysis, a large discrepancy in terms of green growth was observed in the examined countries. It was noted that the disproportion may turn out to be a problem in the implementation of the sustainable development policy. The results also showed that the position of the country is reflected in its geographic location.

    This article analyses the phenomenon of using the Open Source software. The aim is to investigate and verify the existence of a positive direct network effect that characterizes usage of the Open Source software. The multivariate probit model is applied to extract factors motivating end users to the usage of the Open Source software. Special attention is paid to the demographic characteristics of the end users, as well as to the impact of the end users’ peers, such as family, work and school, on using the Open Source software. The results confirm the research assumptions. It is found that the actual choice of various Open Source software groups is correlated and thus cannot be analyzed separately. This supports the hypothesis about the existence of the network effect derived from the complementary services and dependencies among applications. The obtained results are representative for the Polish population aged 13-54.
