    The text analyses the Harry Potter series by Joanne Rowling from the perspective of eugenics and the ideology of National Socialism. What is indicated and examined are the statements or attitudes of heroes that may be considered part of the Nazi discourse, implemented in the novel by the author. The aim of the paper is to show that this cycle may be a pretext for teachers to initiate the discussion on eugenics, Nazism, as well as broadly understood ideology.

    The article proposes a critical reading of the father figure in Jonathan Littell’s The Kindly Ones. While taking into account various interpretative contributions to the analysis of thetheme, formerly neglected and subjected to Julia Kristeva’s theory of abject mother, this article explores an alternative, esthetic, culturally oriented approach to the phenomenon. By grouping together father and a man who, in the absence of the former, takes power over the son, the story’s protagonist, the figure of the father can be understood as a key-symbol of a Nazi perpetrator’s identity. However, the article aims to show that this image can stem from the specific cultural context of contemporary representations of Nazism and influence today’s perception of the perpetrators.

    Artykuł, inspirowany publikacją Głosy z „Ostatniego kręgu”. Korespondencja z Konzentrationslager Auschwitz Józefa Kreta i Zofii Hoszowskiej-Kretowej (Katowice 2020), zawiera refleksję nad nazizmem, edukacją, nauką oraz ideologią w III Rzeszy. Powodem podjęcia obecnych w niniejszym opracowaniu kwestii i jego głównym tematem jest bogata kontekstowość w możliwym interpretacyjnie podejściu do Głosów z „Ostatniego kręgu”. Wykorzystana metodologia badawcza to przede wszystkim analiza i interpretacja tekstologiczna oraz kontekstualna z uwzględnieniem innych perspektyw (np. edytorskiej, bibliologicznej, genologicznej, historycznej, kulturowej). Walorem analizowanej publikacji źródłowej jest bogata kontekstowość, skłaniająca do badań dotyczących takich obszarów, jak np. nauka i edukacja w systemach totalitarnych, epistolografia, cenzura.
    Inspired by the book Voices from the “Last Ring”: Józef Kret and Zofia Hoszowska-Kretowa’s Correspondence from the Konzentrationslager Auschwitz (Katowice 2020), this article contains a reflection on Nazism, education, science and ideology in the Third Reich. The reason for taking up these issues and the main topic of the article is the rich contextuality in this interpretative approach to Voices from the “Last Ring”. The research methodology indicated in the article is primarily the text-oriented and the contextual analysis and interpretation, which takes into account other perspectives (e.g., editorial, bibliological, genological, historical, and cultural). The value of the source publication analyzed here consists in its rich contextuality, which prompts research in such areas as, for example, science and education in totalitarian systems, epistolography, and censorship.
