    Opis:
    Comics as one of the texts of culture becomes a mediating element between cultures. The article attempts to answer the question whether the history of Polish literature presented in a form of a comics can influence the way in which Polish literature is regarded and enlarge its readers’ number that is very limited outside of Poland. The author of the article also at-tempts to study the presence of Polish literary works (mostly novels) in multiple¬ panel com-ics, both in Poland and abroad.

The Costume as an Element of Superhero Narratives in Comics The main goal of the article is to present the theme of mask and costume in the superhero comic’s narratives as a key element not only for visual aspects of superheroes but also theirs psychological background.  Using an example of Darwyn Cooke’s “Batman: Ego” comic book, the author presents  a mask and  a costume as “subjectified” creations in Cooke’s work.  They become a starting points for a comic book’s stories which concentrate on the multilayered dependence between the mask-ed and un-mask-ed personality of a hero.Keywords: theory of comics, history of comics, text analysis
    Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie problematyki maski oraz kostiumu w komiksowych narracjach superbohaterskich, jako kluczowego elementu nie tylko w zakresie konstruowania wizualnego aspektu superbohaterów, ale także ich psychologicznego tła. Posługując się wybranym przykładem tego typu narracji – komiksem „Batman: Ego” Darwyna Cooke’a – autor stara się przedstawić figurę maski oraz kostiumu jako „upodmiotowione” w dziele Cooke’a twory, które mogą stać się punktem wyjścia dla konstruowania konkretnych fabuł komiksowych, stawiających w swoim centrum niejednoznaczne zależności pomiędzy za-maskowaną a zde-maskowaną osobowością wybranego bohatera.     Komiksy dla dzieci są znaczącą częścią rynku książki nie tylko w Polsce. Pozycje te są istotne, ponieważ przygotowują młodych odbiorców do aktywnego uczestnictwa w kulturze. Autor artykułu szczegółowo przeanalizował i zinterpretował najnowsze polskie komiksy adresowane do najmłodszych czytelników pod kątem wątków animalistycznych. W pierwszej kolejności podzielił wybrane utwory na dwie grupy: te, w których zwierzęta towarzyszą człowiekowi oraz takie, gdzie zwierzęta są głównymi bohaterami (klasyczne oraz hybrydowe – łączące komiks z innymi formami wypowiedzi). Badacz przywołał przykłady takie jak: Którędy do Yellowstone? Dzika podróż po parkach narodowych (Aleksandra i Daniel Mizielińscy), cykl „Umarły las” (Adam Wajrak, Tomasz Samojlik), „Bardzo dzika opowieść” (Marcin Podolec, Tomasz Samojlik), „Detektyw Miś Zbyś na tropie” (Maciej Jasiński oraz Piotr Nowacki) czy „Rysiek i Królik” (Łukasz Piotrkowicz, Krzysztof Budziejewski, Katarzyna Urbaniak). Przedstawiając wybrane dzieła, autor tekstu posłużył się stanowiskami polskich badaczy komiksu (Wojciech Birek, Jerzy Szyłak, Michał Traczyk), ale powołał się także na naukowców specjalizujących się w dziedzinie Animal Studies (Anna Wąs, Piotr Skubała, Mirosław Twardowski). Artykuł stanowi przegląd różnych rozwiązań formalnych zastosowanych przez autorów (karty, stylistyka kadrów, hybrydy gatunkowe).
    Comics for children are a significant part of the book market, not only in Poland. These titles are important because they prepare young readers for active participation in culture. The article’s author analyzed and interpreted in detail the most recent Polish comic books addressed to the youngest readers regarding animalistic themes. First, he divided the selected works into two groups: those in which animals accompany humans and those in which animals are the main characters (classic and hybrid, combining comics with other forms of expression). The researcher cited examples such as: Którędy do Yellowstone? Dzika podróż po parkach narodowych [Which way to Yellowstone? A wild journey through the national parks] (Aleksandra and Daniel Mizielińscy), the series “Umarły las” [Dead forest] (Adam Wajrak, Tomasz Samojlik), “Detektyw Miś Zbyś na tropie” [Detective Zbyś the Bear on the trail] (Maciej Jasiński and Piotr Nowacki) and “Rysiek i Królik” [Rysiek and Królik] (Łukasz Piotrkowicz, Krzysztof Budziejewski, Katarzyna Urbaniak). When presenting selected works, the author uses the approaches of Polish comics researchers (Wojciech Birek, Jerzy Szyłak, Michał Traczyk), but he also refers to the researchers specializing in Animal Studies (Anna Wąs, Piotr Skubała, Mirosław Twardowski). The article is a review of various formal solutions utilized by the authors (cards, stylistics of frames, genre hybrids).

    In certain way, “displacement” refers to the change. It is the action of a body that moves from a certain space to another. In addition to its obvious physical implications, in the case of human displacement, there are also great subjective implications. In this way, displacement can be of other orders, as symbolic, metaphysical and mental, we can also consider even maturation as the displacement from one psychic state to another. In this case, the present work aims to analyze the different figurations of the concept of displacement present in the work: Displacement - A travelogue by Lucy Knisley, as well as the affiliation of the work to a narrative tradition perpetrated by authors who take the daily genre and the trip report as a means of subjective construction of reality, both in literature and in comics. In order to do so, will be used authors who studied the writing of female authors, having the travel narrative as a research horizon, such as Sonia Serrano and Miriam Adelman; as well as authors who focus on the specificities of the comic language that, under the aegis of “graphic novel”, engender an aesthetic construction that privileges the autobiographical narrative (Santiago Garcia and Hilarry Chute). We intend to highlight the richness that the comics bring to the symbolic construction of the genre “travel diary/narrative” through its peculiarities of self-representation.
