The issue of tobacco planting and cultivation is part of the tobacco industry. The article presents the diseases of the tobacco plant in 50s of the twentieth century. One of the greatest problems related to the execution of cultivation requirements is the issue of plant protection against various diseases. The battle against the diseases of the tobacco plant was carried out in two fundamental ways. The first one included countless research initiatives, due to which it was possible to introduce new, resistant varieties of tobacco, whereas the second one focused on agrotechnical methods of combating diseases, and was based mainly on preventive measures.

Opis:
Bruno Munari left an important legacy to both Italian and international children’s literatures. The hallmarks of this legacy are traditionally considered to be his picture books and their unique visual narratives, illustrations, and tactile surfaces. This essay, however, takes a different approach to interpreting his work. It uses a selection of Munari’s picture books to demonstrate how the extent of his legacy is far more wide-reaching, depicting it as a crossroads that links various features of his long career as an artist and designer. These features include the extraordinary nature of everyday life, faith in the visual, and the challenges laid down by limits, all of which are also fundamental to contemporary children’s literature.
Bruno Munari ha lasciato un’importante eredità alla letteratura per l’infanzia, non solo a livello italiano, ma anche internazionale. In genere, si ritiene che questo lascito sia costituito dall’insieme delle sue singolari narrazioni visive e delle sue innovative soluzioni grafico-tipografiche. Il saggio, invece, mette in evidenza, anche attraverso la presentazione di alcuni albi illustrati scelti a titolo esemplificativo, un differente orientamento interpretativo per dimostrare che l’apporto di Munari è molto più vasto poiché rappresenta uno specialissimo crocevia che riannoda vari elementi della sua lunga attività artistica, fondamentali per la letteratura destinata all’infanzia: la straordinarietà del quotidiano, la fiducia nel visivo, la sfida del limite.

Praca bada kwestię tożsamości narodowej na wybranych przykładach współczesnej poezji Zaolzia, regionu leżącego na polsko-czeskim pograniczu. Przynależność narodowa, będąca trudnym tematem dla mieszkańców ziemi podzielonej politycznie, rozpatrywana jest na płaszczyźnie przestrzennej oraz kulturowej. Głównymi toposami związanymi z problemem identyfikacji narodowej zaolziańskich poetów, wokół których umieszczane są wybrane utwory pisane po polsku oraz w gwarze cieszyńskiej, są granica, miasto, dom oraz język, religia i historia. W najnowszej poezji Zaolzia język przestaje być wyznacznikiem tożsamości narodowej autora. Zanika sztuczny podział na polskie i czeskie dziedzictwo kulturowe w imię wielojęzyczności i wielokulturowości. Niniejsza praca nakreśla obraz zróżnicowanego kulturowo pogranicza, które współcześnie odchodzi od wytyczania definitywnych granic w imię „dialogu kultur” i tożsamości bazującej na zaolziańskim genius loci.
The work explores the issue of national identity based on selected texts of contemporary poetry from Zaolzie – the region on the Polish-Czech borderland. The question of nationality, a difficult subject for the inhabitants of this politically-divided land, is examined at spatial and cultural levels. The central topoi – the border, city, house, language, religion and history – are associated with the problems of national identity of the Zaolzian poets; they are intrinsically present in selected works written in Polish language and its Cieszyn dialect. Yet in the latest Zaolzian poetry language ceases to be a determinant of national identity of these authors and therefore artificial division between Polish and Czech cultural heritages disappear in the name of multilingualism and multiculturalism. This study shows a picture of culturally diverse borderland, which nowadays has departed from the traditional view of borders differentiation; the borderland poets abandon the stereotypical divisions in the name of “dialogue of cultures” and identity based on Zaolzian genius loci.

In the article an influence of sacred art on Ukrainian painting of the late twentieth century, as exemplified by works of NAFAA teachers, was studied. In the professional literature, an idea was established that Ukrainian art, including painting, in the late twentieth century is closely connected with popular art and folklore, sometimes it is also about the influences of fine arts of previous epochs. Herewith, the influence of sacred art on the formation of a new art is mentioned only cursorily or its significance is completely neutralized. The goal of the work was, first of all, to determine the influence of sacred art on the creation of Kyiv painters in the late twentieth century. To achieve the targeted goal the works of painters, who were representatives of different generations and different stylistic trends, were reviewed and formally analyzed. The pieces of art presented in the work give grounds to state that the influence of sacred art on the formation of Kyiv painting is significantly underestimated. Even a cursory overview of the works suggests that sacred art responded not only narratively. Artists examined and actively used icon-painting and composition building, turned to specific recognizable images and combined them with modern themes. In the study, a special attention is paid to M.A. Storozhenko, the founder of the Department of Sacred Painting, who was not only a prominent artist, but also a teacher, and he managed to educate a number of artists who continue the work of the mentor, teaching sacred painting to a new generation of artists.

In concordance with the scholarly profile of the Warsaw historiographical school of the time, Aleksander Gieysztor’s early research, which begun in the 1930s. was devoted to the Carolingian monarchy and the origins of the crusade movement. It was not until after the Second World War that Gieysztor turned his attention to the Slavic studies, conducted from the very beginning by the Poznań historiographical school, to which Gerard Labuda remained faithful throughout his research career. Labuda was primarily interested in Western Slavdom, the origins of Slavic states (Samo’s Empire) and the political and legal aspects of the functioning of early states in Central Europe. Aleksander Gieysztor’s studies on Slavic Europe focused mainly on early medieval Rus’ and on comparative research confronting the phenomena of the history of culture and the history of state and social institutions in Central and Eastern Europe with analogous phenomena and processes known from Carolingian and post-Carolingian Europe.
