    The play world of children with autism is based on a fixed formula of their behaviour. They do not participate willingly in games taken up spontaneously and any attempts to initiate them or join games voluntarily are not always successful. They wish to participate in social contacts like every child, they have motivation towards it but they lack the appropriate knowledge and skills in how to get involved in them normally (Pisula, 2005, p. 103; see Njardvik, Matson & Cherry, 1999, pp. 287-295). The effective method that supports problem solving and enables children to learn social skills, including play skills, is the usage of Comic Strip Conversations, which arranges in a systematic way “what people say and do, and emphasize what people may be thinking” (Gray, 1994, p. 1).

    Opis:
    W roku 2012 ukazał się pierwszy tom czasopisma „Edukacja Międzykulturowa”. Został w nim opublikowany tekst, który był próbą „bilansu otwarcia” zagadnień wielokulturowości oraz edukacji wielo- i międzykulturowej – według spostrzeganego wówczas stanu. Obraz tych zagadnień przedstawiał się jako optymistyczny. Coraz szersza stawała się wiedza o zjawiskach wielokulturowości, w Polsce i w innych państwach dominowały nastroje prointegracyjne, dostrzegano korzyści płynące z integracji europejskiej, kształtowała się świadomość słabości edukacji wielokulturowej i znajomość nowej propozycji – edukacji międzykulturowej. Pomyślny był rozwój pedagogiki międzykulturowej – jako (sub)dyscypliny naukowej, rozwój kadrowy i instytucjonalny. Edukacja międzykulturowa – jako obszar praktyki społecznej – miała liczne udane realizacje w oświacie. Lata następne przyniosły znaczne zmiany nastawienia społecznego wobec wielokulturowości. Spowodowane to zostało m.in. nasileniem się zjawiska terroryzmu, niekontrolowaną falą uchodźców i imigrantów, którzy napłynęli do Europy, a także poczuciem zagrożenia związanym z konfliktem zbrojnym na Ukrainie. Niekorzystne zmiany postaw wobec Innych, Obcych, ujawniły się w zachowaniach polityków, niektórych radykalnych grup, a także w przekazach różnych mediów masowej komunikacji. Wszystko to składa się na odmienne niż kilka lat temu uwarunkowania edukacji międzykulturowej i pedagogiki międzykulturowej. O niektórych obserwowanych skutkach mowa jest w artykule. Sformułowane zostały także pytania o kondycję edukacji i pedagogiki międzykulturowej w dzisiejszych warunkach. W kolejnym fragmencie zaakcentowany jest fakt, że pedagogika międzykulturowa przeżywa czas próby i powinności – mimo wszystko – podjęcia edukacyjnych wyzwań.
    The first volume of the journal Edukacja Międzykulturowa [Intercultural Education] was published in 2012. It contained the text which was an attempt at presenting the “opening balance” of the issues of multiculturalism and multi – and intercultural education – in compliance with the state perceived at that time. The image of these issues looked optimistic. The knowledge of multicultural phenomena was increasing, the pro-integration climate was dominating in Poland and in other countries, the benefits resulting from European integration seemed visible, the awareness of the weakness of multicultural education was growing as well as the familiarization with the new suggestion – intercultural education. The advancement of intercultural pedagogy as a scientific (sub)discipline, the development of its staff and institutional organization were favourable. Intercultural education, as a field of social practice, had many successful applications in the educational system. The next years brought about significant changes in social attitudes to multiculturalism. Among other things, this resulted from growing threat of terrorism, uncontrolled surges of refugees and immigrants who had come to Europe and with the feeling of danger due to the armed conflict in Ukraine. Unfavourable changes of attitudes to Others, Strangers were manifested in the behaviour of some politicians, radical groups, and messages of some mass media. All this constitutes different determinants (than those several years ago) of intercultural education. Some of the observed effects are discussed in the article. Some questions have been also formulated about the condition of intercultural education/pedagogy in the current environment. In another part, it is emphasized that intercultural pedagogy goes through the time of ordeal and, in spite of everything, of the obligation to undertake educational challenges.

    Before a young person is placed in a correctional facility, a series of interventions are undertaken towards him or her, which have the potential to stop criminogenic behaviour and break the causal chain leading to crime. In this paper, a qualitative analysis of the biographies of 60 minor offenders was carried out using the case study method while they were in rehabilitation facilities (correctional institutions or minor shelters). The personal documents collected by the rehabilitation institutions contain a large quantity of information (interviews, diagnoses, and expert opinions) about minors against whom several systemic interventions were previously applied in the course of their lives. The results show the large number and variety of interventions made towards minors, which ultimately did not prevent their placement in rehabilitation facilities because they were usually made too late.

    The concept of trust in the context of voting behavior is difficult to define, because it is not a factor specific solely to this domain. Firstly, trust is an essential element of social life. It is the essence of social capital that has significant impact on many issues – education, economic growth, crime level, quality of functioning of the democratic institutions, community of the citizens. Secondly, in large partly due to the multiple contexts of use of this concept, there are difficulties as regards distinguishing it from related concepts such as empathy, community, respect, kindness, brotherhood, esteem, unity. Despite the many shortcomings and imperfections in the concept of trust, it appears that the concept is well understood intuitively – individuals answering questions in surveys on trust seem to understand the concept very well, and their expressed trust level is proportionate to their individually observable behaviour.

    There are contradictive explanations in the literature on the impulse buying behavior. Some research shows that consumers view impulse buying normatively wrong, while other research reveals that consumers buy impulsively. The purpose of this study is to examine the motivations of impulse buying behavior and to investigate the relationship between each set of motivation and decisions which lead to university students’ impulse buying behavior. Multiple regression analysis was used to determine the predictors of impulse buying behavior. The results show that hedonistic desires, perceived decision-making accuracy and perceived decision effort were the determinants of impulse buying. As a recommendation, business strategies targeting Malaysians in this university should be carried out by considering their potential motivations and university students should not over-rely on their impulsiveness traits as complimentary purchasing alternative.
