    Opis:
    One of the broadly discussed issues, in particular in societies with poor infrastructure of formal care of dependent people (i.e. Poland), is the effect of the ageing process on the efficiency of informal care of the elderly by family members, friends, neighbors, and local communities. The complex situation of elderly care resulting from dropping fertility is further complicated when the emigration rate is high in a given country, such as Poland. The problem is often conceptualized in terms of moral panic. It needs to be emphasized that intergenerational transfers are not unidirectional and not always necessary, as exemplified by parents often helping their children working abroad, and not all elderly parents need care. In this article, I will emphasize the point of view of the parents of migrants, by focusing on the functioning of the transnational system of social security that consists of different actors (migrating and relatively immobile) in both sending and receiving societies. Quantitative and qualitative data from the field studies carried out from 2010–2012 will be used for the purpose of this text.

    This article presents the view on the concept of civilization of the Krakow historian and publicist, Feliks Koneczny. The author believed that all historical facts should be explained in the context of its civilisational background. However, he emphasised that man was created to live in a group, but only in one, because one cannot be “civilised” for these two particular communities; to call them a civilisation, and why did some civilisations fight each other. Feliks Koneczny has been looking for answers to these questions for years. The paper demonstrates and explains his scientific scrutiny.
    В статье речь идёт о краковском историке и публицисте Феликсе Конечном. Представлен его взгляд на понятие цивилизации. Этот автор считал, что все исторические факты следует объяснять в контексте его цивилизационной подоплеки. Он подчеркивал, однако, что человек создан для жизни в группе, но только в одной, потому что нельзя «цивилизоваться” для этих двух конкретных сообществ, называть их цивилизацией, и определить почему некоторые цивилизации воевали друг с другом? Вышеупомянутый Феликс Конечный много лет искал ответы на эти вопросы, и попытки объяснить их можно найти в статье.

    Among many demographic changes, one of the most evident now is the aging of the population, the consequences of which are increasingly leaving a mark on the directions of social policy. In connection with the aging of the population and positive aspects, manifestations of ageism, based on stereotypes and negative attitudes toward older people, are also more and more noticeable. Sometimes, these are discriminatory practices against older people encountered in the health sector, the labor market, public offices, and others. The research presented in the article aimed to identify age discrimination and its manifestations among older people. The purposive sampling technique was used to choose the research sample – the assumption was to examine active older people related to a large city who get involved and participate in various activities and projects carried out for them by nongovernmental organizations. The method of a diagnostic survey with a questionnaire, which included both closed and open-ended questions, was used in the research. The research was intended to help answer the following questions: do older people notice age discrimination, and have they experienced worse treatment because of their age? How many of the surveyed seniors experienced worse treatment and what forms (most often) did it take, and where did it happen?

    In Japanese prose of 20th century, especially post-war prose, there was great Tanizaki who developed in his literature the problem of old age together with such its aspects as aging - related diseases, senility, loss of vitality or fear of death. The aim of this article is to introduce and describe the problem of old age in Tanizaki’s literature by giving as example his essays and two novels. In The Key and Mad Old Man Tanizaki depicts in great detail old age, aging - related diseases, loss of sexual potential, fear of death, or attempts of pursuit for happiness in the old age days. The two novels are the most detailed, careful considerations about old age in Japanese literature, as well as the example of a very bold depiction of increasing sexual excitability in people who are facing old age. The novel’s diaristic form shows author’s very intimate and special attitude toward time and old age. Awareness of death is a privilege that can free an old man from all social and moral restrictions - Tanizaki sketches a boundary that can be reached in the last desires of life. The author is also asking a question: is it worth striving for unchanging, eternal ideals, even at the price of losing one’s life on the way to gain them? The creation of the two novels, was preceded by a series of autobiographical essays, written in 1957-1965, which were an invaluable source of information about the writer’s last period of his literary activity. These essays - cited in the article, can be considered as the material for starting the creation of the mentioned novels, in effect giving them a somewhat autobiographical character.
    В японской прозе XX-ого века, особенно в послевоенный период, самое большое внимание старости и таким ее аспектам, как болезнь, немощность, потеря жизненных сил или страх смерти, уделил один из самых выдающихся и знаменитых писателей - Танидзаки Дзюнъитиро (1886-1965). Цель статьи - представить проблему старости в творчестве Танидзаки на основе его эссе и двух романов. В произведениях Ключ (1956) и Дневник безумного старика (1962) он всесторонне описывает старость, сопутствующие ей заболевания, немощность, угасание сексуальной потенции, страх смерти или попытку осознанного поиска счастья в осени жизни. Дневник безумного старика и Ключ - это самые глубокие размышления о старости в японской литературе. Они также считаются единственным в творчестве Танидзаки и самым смелым примером изучения вопроса роста сексуальной возбудимости у пожилых людей. Мемуарная форма этих работ свидетельствует об очень интимном и особенном отношении автора к теме времени и старости. Именно в них Танидзаки очень смело рассматривает проблемы исчезновения сексуального влечения и осознания смерти как привилегии, освобождающей человека от всех ограничений и общественно-нравственных запретов, очерчивая границу, которую можно достичь в последних жизненных желаниях. Писатель рассуждает в них также, стоит ли стремиться к неизменным вечным идеалам, даже ценой потери жизни на пути к их осуществлению. Их созданию предшествовала серия автобиографических эссе, написанных в 1957-1965 годах, которые являются бесценным источником информации о последнем периоде жизни писателя. Эти эссе, упомянутые в статье, можно рассматривать как исходный материал для создания названных романов, придающий им в результате несколько автобиографический характер.
