Opis:
The starting point for this paper is a general interest in the faint presence of methodologically oriented analyses within the history of education. The methodology of history of education is a rare term on the map of scientific categories (likewise the theory of history of education). One can multiply reasons for such situation, pointing institutional deficiencies of science or stressing the fact that this term is for some researchers unwelcome and should be criticized. Although such statements are worth tackling, the present considerations focus on different research trail, being an analysis of obstacles for crystallization of the methodology reflection within history of education. These are, e.g., the lack of paradigmatic clarity and also definitional instability of contemporary methodology of history as such. Nevertheless, one should not treat this situation as disadvantage, rather as a need of different historical imagination. Responses to this need should be developed and potential contexts of such historical imagination are presented in the final part of this paper.

The paper offers a review of Polish discussions on the educational aspects of film. While initially many authors were quite sceptical of film, then viewed primarily as a form of cheap entertainment for the masses, they subsequently started exploring the possibilities for using film in education. The paper discusses the views of early pioneers, such as Matuszewski and Irzykowski, up until more recent developments (such as the New Horizons Association), emphasizing the Polish contribution to the history of film and media education.

This book in an accessible manner examines education disciplines in one handy volume. It provides well prepared study activities and extra notes to texts, figures and journals of particular education disciplines. In chapter one Barry Dufour presents an introduction to the history of education. Next chapter reveals the political, economic and social context for changes in contemporary education. The third chapter considers the fundamental philosophical ideas beginning with Greek philosophers and taking us forward in time to today by looking at the influential educational ideas (Dufour, Curtis, 2011). Chapter four depicts the most significant areas of the economics of education. The main sociological perspectives in education are presented in chapter five. Next chapter presents behavior, learning and intelligence as parts of the psychology of education. Comparative education through the prism of research is presented in the last chapter.

This study follows the academic careers of Jaroslav Bidlo and Milada Paulová, focusing on their organisational activities in the realm of historical Slavonic studies. Both were professors of general history, specialising in the history of Eastern Europe and the Balkan Peninsula at the Faculty of Philosophy (Charles University, Prague). Their names are thus tied to the development of Czech historical Slavonic studies since their beginnings in late 19th and early 20thcenturies until the 1960s.

Artykuł opisuje działalność naukowo-badawczą pracowników Instytutu Pedagogiki (Zakład Pedagogiki Ogólnej i Zakład Historii Nauki, Oświaty i Wychowania), którzy pod kierunkiem prof. UG dr. hab. Kazimierza Kossak- -Główczewskiego podejmują badania nad tematyką wielokulturowości (w tym wielokulturowości Pomorza Gdańskiego), edukacją regionalną (w tym edukacją kaszubską) i zagadnieniami międzykulturowości. Badania pedagogiczne stanowią zaledwie fragment szerszego nurtu badań humanistycznych i społecznych podejmowanych w Uniwersytecie Gdańskim i Instytucie Kaszubskim w Gdańsku. Badania te inspirowane są także praktyką edukacyjną. Stąd opis dotyczy także wybranych działań gdańskich socjologów, językoznawców, literaturoznawców i historyków problematyki kaszubskiej. Przywołano także wybrane nazwiska praktyków edukacji kaszubskiej.
The article depicts the research activity of employees of the Pedagogical Institute (General Pedagogy Department and Department of the History of Science and Education). They conduct research under the guidance of prof. Dr. UG. hab. Kazimierz Kossak-Główczewski. The main topics are multiculturalism (including multiculturalism of Gdansk Pomerania), regional education (including Kashubian education) and intercultural issues. Pedagogical research represents only a part of wider mainstream of humanistic and social studies which are conducted at the University of Gdansk and Kashubian Institute in Gdańsk. These studies are also inspired by educational practice. The description also applies to selected activities of Gdańsk sociologists, linguists, literary scholars and historians of Kashubian issues. The names of selected practitioners are listed.

The author offers a new approach to a phenomenon of social legends of great individuals from a philosophical point of view. He starts with a presentation of his interpretation of the concept of the Platonic tradition of a divine man and a cult or hagiography of such men in the ideal Platonic state, alongside with an explanation, inspired by Platonic authors. He collates this concept and its justification (rationalization) with today’s social and political reception of axiology, in order to present it as an epiphany of higher values. He collates it also with the results of philosophical reflection on a ductility of history, in order to show it as a prototype of something real in its historical efficiency. The author ends with summary and explanation of his proposal.

The aim of the article is to point out how in contemporary Russian school history textbooks the collapse of the Soviet Union and its consequences for Russia, Europe and the whole world are shown. By combining this information with public opinion polls, aimed at analyzing Russian attitude to this controversial period in history, an attempt was made to find an answer to the question of how in the cultural memory of Russians, transmitting the experience of the older generations to the younger, this groundbreaking change in the political system operates nowadays. The conducted analysis has shown that many Russian history textbooks present a balanced, unemotional picture of the process the collapse of the Soviet Union. However, there are also such textbooks, which include emotional negative opinions about the collapse of the Soviet superpower, considering this event as one of the most tragic moments in the history of the 20th century. The article cites excerpts from history textbooks for history, juxtaposing them with public opinion surveys (regarding the evaluation of the last CPSU Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev; an opinion about the possibility of avoiding the collapse of the USSR, the factors that cause the greatest sorrow for the state union). This juxtaposition has revealed that despite the passage of time, there is lack of one, acceptable to the general public version of events that took place a quarter of a century ago. Just as Russians evaluate events focused around the collapse of the USSR and its consequences differently, so authors of textbooks offer students interpretations of groundbreaking events very diverging from each other. Therefore, the article shows that the historical education of young Russians in relation to this specific period will be the sum of the family stories, reading textbook recommended by the teacher and teacher comments. This leads to the conclusion that the collapse of the USSR is an event affecting the cultural memory of Russians, though the evaluation of this period are still evolving.
