Freedom from fear is one of the four freedoms (along with freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom from want) that President Franklin D. Roosevelt presented first to the US Congress on 6 January 1941, and later to the entire world in the fight against Germany, Italy and Japan. They covered all areas of human life, guaranteeing security in the private and family spheres, in public life and in relations with other people and, above all, with any authority (especially the State). These freedoms became the basis of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, proclaimed on 10 December 1948, and other national and international documents. Freedom from fear has become a symbol of the protection of human rights and a guarantee of a safe life for every person everywhere in the world. The vast majority of conflicts in the world originate within national borders and their main victims are innocent civilians. States have a primary duty to protect everyone. They must create strong security instruments to prevent a repetition of the crimes of the Second World War. The quest for universal and individual security is constantly intertwined with new threats that grow with the development of civilisation, in particular through the evolution of technology and information. Today, we are also confronted with various aggressors - bandit states, cruel terrorists and populist governments on the verge of enslavement and incitement to violence. Education, cooperation, human rights and shared responsibility for others build respect for every human being - not only fellow citizens, but other people from distant parts of the global village. This shared responsibility began in the Congress of the United States of America on 6 January 1941.

This article is devoted to the analysis of historical and legal aspects of payment of income from advocacy in Ukraine. A study of the history of the establishment of such an institution as the bar, the procedure for remuneration for the work of a lawyer, the formation of his income and their legal consolidation. Attention was also paid to the peculiarities of the payment of mandatory fees by bar associations (BA), the formation of the tax burden on income from advocacy. In addition, an analysis of tax legislation and legislation governing the payment of the single social contribution and other mandatory payments. Using the method of analysis and synthesis, ten stages of the formation of the bar, which directly affected the forms and types of income from advocacy and the enshrinement in law of mandatory payments for these activities and their compatibility with income. It is determined that the first stage of such formation occurred in 1917–1918, when lawyers began to receive income from their professional activities; second stage (1918–1919) – the income of a lawyer in the boards was in the form of wages; the third stage (1919–1922) – creation of legislative bases of taxation of lawyer’s activity; the fourth stage (1922–1929) – the transition of the Ukrainian Bar (UB) to collective forms of work; the fifth stage (1929–1931) – the abolition of private practice; the sixth stage (1931–1932) – the bit-share form of payment of work of lawyers is formed; the seventh stage (1932–1960) – introduction of the system of self-financing; the eighth stage (1960–1980) – change of understanding and concept of activity of lawyers; ninth stage (1980–1991) – lawyers are exempt from taxation; the tenth stage – since 1991, the formation of the legislation of independent Ukraine, different approaches to the taxation of income from advocacy, which depends on the choice of lawyers appropriate system of taxation and form of advocacy, as well as excessive tax pressure.

Basing on the analysis of particular theories regarding the transition from education to work as well as selfdevelopment theory it has been noted that assumption of employment by graduates does not solely depend on labor market condition and their academic achievements but also on the level of identity development and appropriate assessment of one’s own skills and abilities. From the assumed perspective the transition from education to work is a long lasting and complex developmental task where accurate and thorough self assessment skills and readiness to achieve compromises between expectations and possibilities related to career development are of crucial importance.

The changes taking place in the modern societies, and in particular the changes on the job market, have resulted in several individual consequences. The particular area of interest is the process of human development, up till now explained with the aid of models based on stages of development. These stages assume that the growth and improvement change in terms of quality and at the same time they marginalize the ideas of repetition, reduction and standstill. The aim of this paper is to discuss the contemporary psychological theories and concepts behind the mechanisms regulating the process of transition from vocational education to work. The paper presents the basic theories of Human Agents by Albert Bandura. In its light the mechanisms of self-efficacy are discussed as the most important regulators of vocational activities. Following that, Human Agents concept continuation by Augustyn Bańka is also cited, in particular, the mechanisms regulating the course of vocational career. Empirical relations between the attitudes of young adults entering job market and their perception of self-efficacy are also presented.

Apart from changing learning and teaching habits, the COVID-19 pandemic has also affected the way parents involve themselves in learning from home. This study explores the challenges parents face when participating in online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic and what ways can be done to encourage students to learn mathematics online. We use multiple case studies to achieve research objectives. This study involved eight mothers of children in elementary school. Six of them are housewives, and the rest are government employees. Semi-structured interviews were used to gather data. Aside from technical constraints such as the availability of internet networks and infrastructure, the findings of this study show that technological literacy and parental involvement in cognitive, emotional, social, and pedagogical aspects are still lacking. We discussed four key findings, including issues with network availability and technological literacy, issues with parents’ routine work and how to accompany their children, parents’ beliefs about mathematics, and parental involvement in cognitive, affective, social, and pedagogical aspects. Finally, the parents’ learning community must be accommodated, developed, and assisted for their involvement to be more effective.

Analysis of the opportunities, constraints and prospects of pre-primary education of children from marginalized Roma communities was, is and will be the subject of many studies and constructive solutions at different levels of responsibility entities. All positive solutions and results in this area are a step closer to the inclusive education in kindergarten. Theoretical considerations, research findings and practical experiences of teachers are used to formulate key actions for successful pre-primary education for children from marginalized Roma communities in the process of inclusive education. Uwzględniając klasyfikację typów nauczycieli w ujęciu Zbigniewa Zaborowskiego, autorka interpretuje narrację spotkań Innych (dzieci z układu ryzyka) z nauczycielami wyzwalającymi, obojętnymi, konfliktowymi, rzeczowymi, a także z nową kategorią pedagoga utworzoną na podstawie dziecięcych opowieści (typ umęczony).
This article presents the teacher who meets with the Other in the school environment, according to the concept of intercultural education. A child from risk settings, denoted as the Other, is defined as growing in difficult living and housing conditions and struggling with developmental crises of childhood and adolescence. Taking into account the classification of teacher types in accordance with Zbigniew Zaborowski approach, the author interprets the narration of meetings the Others (children from risk setting) with liberating, uninterested, conflictual teachers, as well as with the new category of an educator created on the basis of children’s stories.

This study aims to prepare the most effective Korean history education plan for children from mixed marriages in Korea using a questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews. Before the survey, the children from mixed marriages between Korea and Vietnam, China, and Japan preferred the auto-visual teaching method (ATM). However, after learning Cramming Teaching Method (CTM), Audio-Visual Teaching Method (ATM), Comparative-History Teaching Method (CHTM), and Discussion Teaching Method (DTM) for one week, Chinese and Korean – Japanese children preferred CHTM, whereas Korean-Vietnamese children preferred ATM itself. Hence, CHTM was found to be the most effective method when educating Korean history to the children from mixed marriages between Korea and countries with many historical conflicts, similar to that of their mothers (first-generation immigrants).

Badania nad dysproporcjonalnością proporcjonalnych systemów wyborczych dowodzą, że wielkość okręgu wyborczego jest kluczową zmienną determinującą siłę odchyleń od proporcjonalności wyników wyborów. W artykule pokazane zostanie jak parametr ten wpływa na dysproporcjonalność wyborczą, wykorzystując dane z polskich wyborów samorządowych z 2018 r. Analizy dowiodą, że polski „proporcjonalny” system wyborczy do lokalnych rad prowadzi do wysoce dysproporcjonalnych rezultatów.
Studies on disproportionality of proportional electoral systems proves prove that district magnitude is a key variable determining deviations from proportionality in election results. This paper will shows how district magnitude affects electoral disproportionality by employing empirical data from Polish local elections in 2018. The analysis will prove that Polish “proportional” electoral system to local councils leads to highly disproportional results.

Problematyka kapitału ludzkiego w naukach społecznych jest bardzo rozległa za sprawą omawiania koncepcji w związku z podejmowaniem koncepcji rozwoju społecznego, rozwoju regionów i samych jednostek. Niemniej warto podjąć w naukach społecznych aspekt kapitału osób migrujących z Ukrainy do Polski w kontekście wzajemnego bezpieczeństwa społecznego.
At present, the intensity of social mobility among Poland as well as Ukraine is increasing due to various causes which successively contain diverse implications. This paper analyses the issue or else the replacement of human capital among the two countries in the context of their social security. The issue of human capital in social studies widespreads by means of discussing the notion in relation to addressing the difficulty of social development, the progress of regions, as well as the individuals themselves. However, in the social studies it is worthwhile to undertake the aspect of the capital of migrants from Ukraine to Poland in the context of mutual social security.

The article analyses the Ukrainian model of active repentance in criminal justice through the lens of restorative justice. Restorative justice has incrementally attracted the increasing attention of scholars, legislators, and policymakers across the globe. Ukrainian criminal legislation, representing a combination of post-soviet and Western approaches to criminal justice, offers a remarkable experience. Unlike many other Western European countries, the Criminal Code of Ukraine creates a strong incentive for an offender to show remorse at every stage of his interaction with the criminal justice system: during the pre-trial inquiry, throughout the trial, while serving punishment and even after the punishment while subjected to certain limitations (criminal record). At every stage, active repentance of an offender triggers/might trigger the possibility of leniency. This leniency might result in a release from criminal liability, mitigation of the imposed punishment, release the convict on parole or early expungement of collateral consequences of a criminal conviction, etc. The Criminal Code of Ukraine does not provide a clear demarcation of active repentance. Instead, the law defines it through the inexhaustive list of behavior patterns in which it manifests itself. This approach enables judicial discretion and reduces the formality in the assessment of the acts of an offender. The main shortcoming of the Ukrainian approach to active repentance is that the reconciliation between the offender, the victim, and the wider community is being advanced poorly.

The reception of the work of Grazia Deledda (1871–1936) is a conspicuous paradox. Although she was a successful author and a Nobel Prize winner (1926), she is little known and little studied, especially when compared with the other Nobel laureates, in particular male ones. My aim is to investigate the origins of Deledda’s ‘misfortune’ by exploring the common issues critics raised with respect to Deledda’s books in her day. One of those was, prominently, Deledda’s alleged imperfect style, a recurring theme in criticism throughout her career. Also, the Sardinian dimension of her works left no critic indifferent and led to her writing often being reduced to ‘regional’ or ‘folkloric.’ Many critics insisted that Deledda’s Sardinia, little known on the ‘Continent’ at the time, enjoyed considerable success precisely because of its ‘exotic’ quality. Finally, Deledda’s status as a woman writer was a salient factor in the reception of her work. Indeed, critics tended to adopt a condescending, or even sexist, tone, whether their assessment of Deledda’s work was favourable or detractive, which was a real commonplace in the reception of women authors back then. My aim is to investigate the role of these issues in the exclusion from the canon of a writer who has remained unique in Italian literature to this day.
La ricezione dell’opera di Grazia Deledda (1871–1936) costituisce un vistoso paradosso. Sebbene sia stata un’autrice di successo, la prima e unica scrittrice italiana ad aver vinto il Premio Nobel per la letteratura (1926), è indubbiamente oggi la meno nota dei vincitori italiani del Nobel. Fu perfino derisa da colui che avrebbe vinto il Nobel dopo di lei, Luigi Pirandello, autore di un romanzo che la ridicolizza apertamente. Grazia Deledda rimane tuttora poco nota e decisamente poco studiata, soprattutto se paragonata agli altri vincitori del Nobel – non a caso tutti maschi. In questo articolo si indagano le origini della “sfortuna” deleddiana esplorando la critica coeva e concentrandoci sui temi che accomunano i critici. Primo fra tutti il suo presunto brutto stile, un tema ricorrente nei giudizi critici. La dimensione sarda delle sue opere, poi, non lascia nessun critico indifferente e la conduce a essere spesso ridotta alla parte di autrice “regionale” o “folkloristica”. Per molti, la Sardegna di Grazia Deledda, ancora poco nota nel “continente”, riscuote un successo notevole proprio per via della propria dimensione “esotica”. Infine il suo stesso statuto di autrice entra in gioco nella ricezione della sua opera. Come spesso accadeva all’epoca, si notano in effetti ricorrenti osservazioni condiscendenti, o addirittura sessiste, da parte dei critici, favorevoli o meno, il che costituisce un vero e proprio luogo comune nella ricezione delle autrici del tempo. L’intento è dunque di indagare il ruolo di questi temi nell’esclusione dal canone di quella che rimane ancora oggi un caso unico nella letteratura italiana.

Last global financial-economic crisis started at the end of 2007 has affected a large number of countries. The crisis, which arose initially in developed countries, was sharply transferred to countries with economies in transition. Thus, the modern economic and financial crisis of the post-Soviet countries came from the outside. The current crisis has shown the pros and cons of the process of economic globalization. The authors examined the problem of intra-regional channels of crisis dissemination, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of national economies, and establishes the degree of involvement of these economies in the globalization process and determines the level of risk associated with this process. The crisis was evaluated based on the performance of the economy of a single country
Ostatni światowy kryzys finansowo-gospodarczy, który rozpoczął się pod koniec 2007 roku wpłynął na wiele krajów. Kryzys, który powstał początkowo w państwach rozwiniętych, szybko rozprzestrzenił się do krajów o gospodarkach w okresie przejściowym, takich jak postsowieckie. Obecny kryzys tych państw wykazał wady i zalety procesu globalizacji ekonomicznej. Autorzy artykułu zbadali problem wewnątrzregionalnych kanałów rozpowszechniania się kryzysu, a także mocnych i słabych stron gospodarek krajowych. Przedstawili także stopień zaangażowania tych gospodarek w procesie globalizacji, jak również poziom ryzyka związanego z tym procesem. Kryzys był badany na podstawie wyników gospodarczych jednego państwa.
