    The dual vocational education system in Germany is recognised as a model worldwide. The second decade of the 21st century is unfolding under the visible effects of the technological revolution, social changes and intensified migration flows. Difficulties in filling vacant working places, the need to intensify professional orientation, closer cooperation among schools influence the development of new solutions for the system. In relation to the Polish vocational education reform, such paradigms as employer and school, student and master, vocational orientation, professional integration of migrants acquire new meanings. The current problems of the German dual system and its possible solutions become a reference for the current discussion on young people’s vocational education in Poland.
    System dualnego kształcenia zawodowego w Niemczech jest uznawany za wzór na świecie. Druga dekada XXI wieku upływa w świetle widocznych skutków rewolucji technologicznej, zmian społecznych i nasilonych ruchów migracyjnych. Trudności w obsadzaniu miejsc nauki, potrzeba intensyfikacji orientacji zawodowej, zacieśnienie współpracy ze szkołami wpływają na formowanie nowych rozwiązań wewnątrz systemu. W kontekście polskiej reformy kształcenia zawodowego nowego znaczenia nabierają takie paradygmaty, jak pracodawca i szkoła, uczeń i mistrz, orientacja zawodowa, integracja zawodowa migrantów. Bieżące wyzwania dualnego systemu w Niemczech i sposoby rozwiązań stają się impulsem do aktualnej dyskusji o kształceniu zawodowym młodzieży w Polsce.

    The article deals with issues regarded to implementation of bilingual education in Ukrainian universities. This process can be considered as part of Ukrainian integration into European and world scientific and educational space. Furthermore, this area is being developed according with the National Doctrine of Educational Development. Specific aspects of bilingual education development at the end of the 20th century are noted. Bilingual educational system leads to both getting the education as provided by the bilingual system itself and personality formation when an individual is open to the interaction with the whole world. Applied to obtaining a certain specialty at the university, the goal of bilingual education is a synthesis of communicative and subject competencies. It is reported that a foreign (in particular, English) language is not only the goal, but also a means of understanding the world of special knowledge. Bilingual education features are examined in detail. It is noted that at the moment a comprehensive concept of bilingual professional education in Ukraine has not been built. Currently, only certain aspects of the problem of bilingual education in higher education have been defined. А number of issues have been formulated which need to be theoretically comprehended in order to implement succesfully the bilingual educational system at the universities. Attention is paid to the complex of didactically and methodically relevant factors which depend on the students’ future profession and qualifications. Appropriate criteria have been identified, which influence on many levels on the content, organization and choice of methods of bilingual education in a certain field of study. It is underlined that the factors (criteria) are both the linguistic ones and non-linguistic ones. Finding and taking into account all these factors is mandatory to create the scientifically based concept of the bilingual educational system at the non-language departments.

    The primary goal of this paper is to introduce the concept of empowerment, its sources, definitions and various ways to comprehend it. The author’s professional interest lies in the field of scientific research. But the topic was primarily chosen due to the fact that the concept of empowerment has not only been increasingly recognized and studied by social sciences but also widely applied in everyday life. The concept of empowerment has been utilized in many different contexts. It can be categorized as a scientific phenomenon that in spite of being popular and widely used does not have a uniform definition. Empowerment is not only a theory but also an idea, a model or a research. Empowerment is also both a process and the outcome of a process. It may be understood by any one of the mentioned meanings or all of them together. The paper is based on the assumption that empowerment is a multidimensional concept. There are two important consequences of this assumption. First of all, as already mentioned, the concept does not have one uniform definition (the definition depends on different socio-cultural and political contexts the concept operates in). Second of all, the nature of its many dimensions derives from its many levels. There are three levels of empowerment – individual, organizational and community. The paper postulates that the levels are interconnected and interact. So any change on any level influences the other levels. The levels are connected by mediating structures that are essential to find the answer to the question this paper raises – whether an individual can influence a social change? The deliberations presented in this paper are set in the educational context. The author’s reflections on the social and educational intervention models are also set in that context. The paper concludes with the thesis that the empowerment (resources) model needs to be included in the academic curriculum.

    The paper considers challenges of moving education into Cloud under the conditions of digital divide. The content of the paper is divided into two parts. In the first one, the focus is on digital divide, since it greatly affects the issue. In the second part, a model for adapting Cloud in higher educational environment is proposed, with the emphasise on the needs of so-called developing countries, which suffer consequences of digital inequality. The statistical analyses of the survey conducted on the basis of the proposed model have been made at two universities in Montenegro (South-East Europe). Moreover, brief conclusions along with some guidelines for the future research work in the field are given.

    A SWOT study was conducted to analyze parents’ perspective on the degree to which Jordanian media covers issues of children with disabilities; the study sample consisted of 129 parents. The researchers constructed a scale consisting of 28 items; furthermore, validity and reliability coefficients of the scale were extracted. Results showed a moderate level of media coverage regarding issues of children with disabilities; social media was given the highest rating followed by visual and audio media, and lastly print media such as newspapers and magazines. However, the majority of media coverage addressed physical and health issues and communicative disorders. Finally, recommendations to improve practices were provided.

    The objective of this article is to present the theoretical assumptions and psychometric properties of the Model of Inversed Death Questionnaire. The existential and educational consequences of the new cultural model of death which spreads in modern western civilization justify the need to create the tool to measure the extent to which the model of inversed death is present. Based on studies, involving 341 students from universities in Warsaw, reliability, construct and criterial validity of the tool were tested. It has been shown, that this tool has the correct psychometric properties and can be used in subsequent studies. The multidimensional internal structure of the Model of Inversed Death Questionnaire corresponds to the theoretical model of the studies whereby there is four typical phenomena of the model of inversed death: demetaphysication of death, trivialization of death, taboo of death, separation of death experiences.

    The article aims at a redefinition of Islamic suicide terrorist’s motivation. It describes the basic determinants and conceptualizations of terrorism and discusses major theories and explanations of that phenomenon from an individualistic and sociocultural perspective. Due to the fact that suicide terrorism is a very distinct and narrow subcategory of terrorism, the paper addresses the questions of Why it is unique? and in What ways it is distinct from (“normal”) terrorism in general? Given the absence of convincing psychological, sociological and educational evidence that terrorists (and especially suicide terrorists) differ in any particular way from the normal population, the author has developed and proposed an “altruistic” suicide-terrorist model. The proposed model treats suicide terrorism as a process of continuous communication/education between the terrorist and his/her reference group in which psychosocial bonds are developed between the individual and the terrorist organization. The process is determined by: (1) an erroneous understanding of jihad, (2) the existence of conducive external conditions, such as frustration underpinned by poor living standards and a sectarian mentality negating the outside world and its values, and (3) a high level of altruism (and in particular reciprocal altruism) in would-be suicide bombers.
    Niniejszy artykuł ma na celu zredefiniowanie motywacji islamskich terrorystów samobójców. Opisuje on podstawowe determinanty i koncepcje terroryzmu oraz omawia główne teorie i wyjaśnienia tego zjawiska z perspektywy indywidualistycznej i społeczno-kulturowej. Z uwagi na fakt, że terroryzm samobójczy jest bardzo odrębną i wąską subkategorią terroryzmu, w artykule podjęto próbę odpowiedzi na następujące pytania: Dlaczego jest on wyjątkowy? i W jaki sposób różni się od („zwykłego”) terroryzmu? Biorąc pod uwagę brak przekonujących dowodów psychologicznych, socjologicznych i edukacyjnych na to, że terroryści (a zwłaszcza terroryści samobójcy) różnią się w jakikolwiek sposób od normalnej populacji, autor opracował i zaproponował model „altruistycznego” terrorysty samobójcy. Proponowany model traktuje terroryzm samobójczy jako proces ciągłej komunikacji między terrorystą a jego/jej grupą odniesienia, w którym rozwijane są więzi psychospołeczne między jednostką a organizacją terrorystyczną. Proces ten determinowany jest przez: (1) błędne zrozumienie dżihadu, (2) istnienie sprzyjających warunków zewnętrznych, takich jak frustracja spowodowana złym poziomem życia i mentalności sekciarskiej negującej świat zewnętrzny i jego wartości, oraz (3) wysoki poziom altruizmu (a zwłaszcza altruizmu odwzajemnionego) u potencjalnych zamachowców samobójców.

    Opis:
    Modeling the image of a teacher of higher education is an integral part of the development of modern pedagogical imageology, which is being formed as an interdisciplinary direction. In our study, we analyzed the modern scientific experience devoted to the study of the image of a teacher of higher education. This made it possible to determine the current state of the views of researchers who worked in this direction. The purpose of the article is to highlight the results of research on the content and structure of the image of a teacher of higher education. Summarizing the views of different authors, we formed a general idea of the content of the category of the image of a teacher of higher education, identified the components of the image of a teacher of higher education, identified general characteristics of the image of a teacher of higher education from different positions, components of the image of a teacher of higher education. This allowed us to define the category of the image of a teacher of higher education and to propose an author’s model of systematic description of the image of a teacher of higher education, which is an attempt to find a connection between the components of the image of a teacher of higher education and the environment in which this image is formed. The general components of this model include: determination of the image of a teacher of higher education (sociopsychological aspect, acmeological aspect, activity aspect); bearer of the image of a teacher of higher education; the context of interaction between the bearer of the image and the recipient of the image of a teacher of higher education; symbolic space formed by the bearer of the image of a teacher of higher education; nature of interaction (subject-subject interaction / subject-object interaction); process, forms, types, means of communication; recipient of the image of a teacher of higher education determination of obtaining and accepting the image of a teacher of higher education (activity aspect, acmeological aspect, socio-psychological aspect). Author’s definitions of these categories are given.

    This article presents Finnish educational changes in the context of The Nordic Model of Social Democracy improved since 1963 versus English model of Neoliberal Democracy based on conservatism since 1979 with its roots in the late eighteenth century in Europe. The reform of education in Finland was supported by a new curriculum and different methods of teaching. In 1963 students started to have an access to the highest-quality education and it was not related to students’ place of living, richness or annual income. On the other side in England, privatization and centralization were the main pillars of the reform with neoliberalism, neoconservatism and its market competition in education. The central government was responsible for the provision of educational services, educational policy, and planning the direction of the educational system. Teachers faced an ultimatum: “either submit to re-education or lose your job” (Jones, p. 43). The 1988 reform strengthened the ideological control of education and accelerated differentiation between schools.

    The article attempts to systematize the issue of resistance manifestations in the context of education. The analyses presented in the article are an introduction to designing a three-dimensional model of resistance, which enables to examine acts of resistance from the angle of their three intertwined aspects: action, space and motivation. They are basic layers determining the analysis range of particular displays of resistance in education and society. These dimensions were developed based on the analysis of theoretical and empirical literature regarding the issue of resistance and on the author’s own research on this phenomenon.

    Opis:
    This article presents the results of a qualitative study based on the humanizing methodology and a transformative approach, conducted in a space of collaborative intercultural, participatory activities of children and university students, as well as female researchers. The intercultural activities and research were implemented in the third month of the war in Ukraine as a response to current challenges faced by Polish schools and universities. The results are obtained from participant observation (3) and semi-structured interviews (34) conducted with university students working with Polish and Ukrainian pupils, using the project method based on L. Lundy’s participation model in the space of the University of Warsaw. The analysis of the results presents the main aspects of how preschool and early childhood education students understand participation in their work with children from diverse sociocultural backgrounds. The study also showed how important it is to include Polish children and children with refugee and migration experience in the activities and joint participation, which allows one to build a safe space for verbal and non-verbal communication (through art) of children with children and adults.
    Artykuł przedstawia wyniki badania jakościowego, opartego na metodologii humanizującej oraz podejściu transformacyjnym, które przeprowadzone zostało w przestrzeni wspólnych, międzykulturowych, partycypacyjnie zorientowanych działań uczniów i studentów oraz badaczek. Międzykulturowe działania i badania zostały zrealizowane w trzecim miesiącu wojny w Ukrainie jako odpowiedź na bieżące wyzwania, przed którymi stanęły polskie szkoły i polskie uniwersytety. Wyniki pochodzą z obserwacji uczestniczącej (3) oraz częściowo ustrukturyzowanych wywiadów (34) przeprowadzonych ze studentami pracującymi z uczniami polskimi i uczniami ukraińskimi metodą projektu w partycypacyjnym modelu L. Lundy w przestrzeni Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego. Analiza wyników przedstawia główne aspekty dotyczące rozumienia przez studentów pedagogiki przedszkolnej i wczesnoszkolnej pojęcia partycypacji w pracy z uczniami i uczennicami ze zróżnicowanym kontekstem społeczno-kulturowym w środowisku międzykulturowym. Badanie pokazało również, jak ważne jest włączanie w działanie i wspólne partycypowanie dzieci polskich oraz dzieci z doświadczeniem uchodźstwa i migracji, pozwalające budować bezpieczną przestrzeń werbalnej i pozawerbalnej (poprzez sztukę) komunikacji dzieci z dziećmi i dzieci z dorosłymi.

    St. Melchior Grodziecki is presented in the context of peace education, which constitutes a set of fundamental principles of upbringing and role modelling in the modern world, while taking into account the aspect of the Saint’s veneration in the culturally diverse town of Cieszyn. The Saint’s biography is presented in the context of the epoch in which he lived. The issue of peace education and searching for role models significant in the life of contemporary people constitutes an important area of consideration. Attention is drawn to the reverence of St. Melchior Grodziecki in culturally diverse Cieszyn, with special reference to the year 2019, which was declared in the province of Silesia as the Year of Melchior Grodziecki. Melchior Grodziecki is an important model for the inhabitants of Cieszyn. On the basis of his biography, it is possible to explain and show what an important role is played in human life by history, which determines human fate and influences the choices made.
    Celem tego opracowania jest przedstawienie postaci św. Melchiora Grodzieckiego w kontekście problematyki edukacji dla pokoju jako fundamentalnej zasady wychowania i wzorców osobowych we współczesnym świecie, z uwzględnieniem aspektu adoracji Świętego w zróżnicowanym kulturowo Cieszynie. Artykuł prezentuje biogram Świętego na tle epoki, w której żył. Ważnym obszarem rozważań staje się problematyka edukacji dla pokoju i poszukiwanie wzorców osobowych znaczących w życiu współczesnego człowieka. Autorka zwraca uwagę na rewerencję św. Melchiora Grodzieckiego w zróżnicowanym kulturowo Cieszynie, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem roku 2019 ogłoszonego w województwie śląskim Rokiem Melchiora Grodzieckiego. Święty jest ważnym wzorem dla mieszkańców Cieszyna.
