    In the last decade, the emergence of diverse students in a streamed class based on the mathematical ability brought upon challenges for the teacher to find an approach which could accommodate all students. This study aims to investigate the connection of students’ ability with their learning preferences in mathematics by applying differentiated instruction using tiered assignments and parallel tasks. This qualitative approach was used for this study from a sample of year 7 mathematics students within Pengukuhan Kemahiran Asas programme (PeKA) (the Basic Skills Strengthening programme), which revolved upon low ability for students with very weak numeracy skills. The findings in general revealed that there is an improvement in their performance.

    This research is an experimental quantitative approach that aims to determine the impact of sex and gender differences on senior high school students’ spatial ability through the implementation of dynamic geometry environment (DGE). Ninety-six high-school student participants were categorized based on gender and sex diversities. Data were analyzed using a three-way ANOVA statistical test and Tukey Test. This study indicates that sex and gender differences and the interaction between sex and gender differences significantly affect students’ spatial abilities. The male students outperform the females. The undifferentiated students outperform all students with different genders (feminine, masculine, and androgyny).

    Opis:
    TMMS and MSCEIT are the most frequently used tools to assess emotional intelligence. TMMS is a questionnaire to self-evaluate emotional skills, and MSCEIT is a test to measure emotional intelligence. Given that both are used equally, we examined the relationship between their dimensions. A sample of 252 adults was selected from higher education institutions. MSCEIT and TMMS-24 were administered and ANOVA and Pearson correlation analyses were conducted. The MSCEIT Managing Emotions branch was the only area that discriminates among participants. A new combined tool to assess EI is proposed in this study.

    This qualitative paper analyses the parental English language input strategies adopted to make children ready for English medium preschools. The author uses interview and observation methods to collect data from 30 families in a cosmopolitan city in India. The result supports multimodal transglossic approach that promotes simultaneous plurilingualism and metalinguistic ability in children. To save children from undue pressure and unintelligent memory work in the home context before the beginning of preschool, the suggestion is to implement age-appropriate scaffolded English language teaching and prevention of the downward extension of the primary school syllabus to the preschools.

    The aim of our study was to examine adolescent personality in relation to the adolescent school-related self-concept, in particular to its cognitive aspect according to W.U. Meyer’s conception. In addition to selected personality dimensions, our paper focuses also on gender relations of the adolescent school-related self-concept. The research sample was made up of grammar school and university students (N = 100). The five-factor model of personality NEO-FFI (P.T. Costa, R.R. McCrae) and SCEA-M questionnaire (U. Engler, W.U. Meyer) were used as research tools. The results show a statistically significant relationship between neuroticism and fear of social consequences. There is also a statistically significant relationship between conscientiousness and the self-concept of ability. Statistically significant gender differences in favour of women appear in the dimension of fear of social consequences.

    Odi Yonee is the Idoma cultural puzzle and number riddle game used as an evening activity to teach children how to count objects or figures. This study seeks to examine its educational approaches and roles in the development of children’s cognitive ability. It uses cultural instructional techniques in an intellectual condition to impact on the knowledge of Idoma pupils. Its objectives are to help modern teachers develop new ideas with the use of interpretation from cultural and environmental data as a source for the teaching and learning process in modern schools. A study like this will guide our present-day curriculum developers and school teachers to adjust their planning and methods of teaching to the mentality of their pupils by making use of the child’s cultural and environmental data.

    The issue of gifted children growing up in a natural family environment has been addressed quite widely. However, small amount of research regarding gifted children residing in the foster care environment is noticeable. At the same time, the issue of having, developing and supporting abilities is extremely significant, especially with regard to pupils of foster care environments deprived of their primary developmental environment, which is the family. Foster care environments can also effectively support the potential of their pupils. The publication is an attempt to answer the question of what support activities are undertaken in the foster care environment in relation to gifted pupils? The research method is case studies. The research indicates various forms of support for gifted pupils: the organization of additional activities, depending on the interests or abilities of the pupil or the financial support as the one they need for the future process of independence, as well as emotional support and others. At the same time, some differences are visible between the activities of institutional and family care, as the latter definitely more often uses the help of psychological and pedagogical counseling centers or organizations supporting gifted students, even if in the form of funded scholarships.
    Problematyka dzieci zdolnych dorastających w naturalnym środowisku rodzinnym podejmowana jest dość powszechnie. Zauważalna jest natomiast niewielka ilość badań dotyczących dzieci uzdolnionych przebywających w środowisku pieczy zastępczej. Jednocześnie kwestia posiadania, rozwijania oraz wspierania zdolności jest bardzo istotna zwłaszcza w odniesieniu do wychowanków środowisk zastępczych pozbawionych podstawowego środowiska rozwojowego, jakim jest rodzina. Środowiska zastępcze również mogą skutecznie wspierać potencjał swoich podopiecznych. Publikacja stanowi próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie, jakie działania wspierające są podejmowane w środowisku zastępczym w odniesieniu do zdolnych podopiecznych. Metodą badawczą wykorzystaną w badaniach są studia przypadków. Badania wskazują na zróżnicowane formy wsparcia zdolnych wychowanków, tj. organizacja dodatkowych zajęć, uzależnionych od zainteresowań czy posiadanych zdolności podopiecznego; pomoc finansową jako tę, która jest im niezbędna do przyszłego procesu usamodzielnienia, wsparcie emocjonalne i wiele innych. Przy czym widoczne są pewne różnice między działaniami pieczy instytucjonalnej i rodzinnej, te drugie bowiem zdecydowanie częściej korzystają z pomocy poradni psychologiczno-pedagogicznych czy organizacji wspierających zdolnych uczniów, chociażby w formie finansowanych stypendiów.

    Opis:
    The article analyses the relationship between the creative attitude of the employees of the organization and their hope for success. 20 people holding managerial and executive positions in organizations of a service and production profile in south-eastern Poland participated in the study. There were 66 women and 54 men among the respondents. The research used the Creative Behaviour Questionnaire - KANH (Bernacka, Popek, Gierczyk, 2016) and the Questionnaire of Hope-KNS (Łaguna, Trzebiński, Zięba, 2005). The research results obtained indicate the existence of positive relationships between the creative attitude and its dimensions: conformity - non-conformity, algorithmic-heuristic behaviour and the general level of hope for success and its components: willpower and the ability to find solutions. Hope for success manifests itself in thought processes and concrete action. Therefore, in new surprising situations, creative people do not give up, but overcome obstacles in the pursuit of the desired goal, are characterized by the ability to look for solutions. The study results may be important for increasing the effectiveness of activities in the organization, especially in the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.
    Artykuł traktuje o zależnościach pomiędzy postawą twórczą a nadzieją na sukces pracowników organizacji. W badaniach uczestniczyło 120 osób pełniących funkcje kierownicze i wykonawcze w organizacjach o profilu działalności usługowej i produkcyjnej w Polsce południowo-wschodniej. Wśród badanych było 66 kobiet i 54 mężczyzn. W badaniach posłużono się Kwestionariuszem Twórczego Zachowania - KANH (Bernacka, Popek i Gierczyk, 2016) oraz Kwestionariuszem Nadziei-KNS (Łaguna, Trzebiński i Zięba, 2005). Uzyskane wyniki badań wskazują na istnienie dodatnich zależności pomiędzy postawą twórczą oraz jej wymiarami: konformizm-nonkonformizm, zachowania algorytmiczne-heurystyczne a ogólnym poziomem nadziei na sukces oraz jej komponentami: silą woli i umiejętnością znajdowania rozwiązań. Nadzieja na sukces przejawia się w procesach myślowych i konkretnym działaniu. Dlatego też w nowych zaskakujących sytuacjach osoby twórcze nie poddają się, ale pokonują przeszkody w dążeniu do upragnionego celu, cechują się umiejętnością poszukiwania rozwiązań. Uzyskane wyniki badań mogą mieć istotne znaczenie dla zwiększenia efektywności działań w organizacji, szczególnie w sytuacji pandemii COVID-19.
