The lively debate about the socialization and in specific way about the exclusion practices in schools all over Europe Union imposes the necessity of framing new forms of peaceful interactions between nonhomogeneous social groups. Starting form this core issues, this awareness has been rooted into an actionresearch project named SMILEY, (Social Mindedness In LEarning CommunitY, funded under the Lifelong Learning Programme-Comenius, and carried out from January 2011 to December 2012). SMILEY wants to present an “exit strategy” based upon the centrality of the social dimension of development, expressed by values, social cohesion, solidarity and respect for gender equality: examples of what “social mindedness” means for the European society. This target was achieved through an integrated system of “online” and “offline” activities catalysed by an elearning platform hosting an ERPG (Educational RolePlaying Game) named “YourTown” connecting students and teachers from the partner countries: Italy, Turkey, Poland, Romania and the United Kingdom. SMILEY project shed a light upon some interesting remarks in order to better understand the

Opis:
This study is an attempt to look at university education as an important developmental task and an element of young adults’ life project. Both the expert literature and the results of empirical research make it possible to treat higher education as an important element of entering adulthood and undertaking mature social and professional roles. Fulfilling those roles enables the young to collect life experience and to crystallize their mature life project. That project comprises many tasks the fulfilment of which allows young people to become adults and to build a mature identity. Becoming an adult occurs very individually, with the use of one’s own experience, resources, and competences. Therefore, the final developmental task can be viewed as the pursuit of adulthood and as undertaking mature obligations. In the case of young adults studying at university, that task involves the fulfilment of many social and (pro-)professional roles. Moreover, university students are provided with the possibility of verifying their current choices and investments in their own future before undertaking permanent obligations. In this context, it seems worth to raise questions of how students perceive this psychological period, how they find their place and what importance education has in their life project.

Opis:
This article refers to the issues of investment project management on the Polish construction market. It describes the typical projects’ features, definitions, refers to the parameters, methodologies and management standards, makes comparison between themselves (e.g. PMBoK and PRINCE2), describes the life cycle of the work and more specifically indicates its different phases and their importance for the successful projects’ implementation, refers to the widely understood literature. Also, an overview of the legislation governing the construction investment projects can be found in the article. Subsequently, taking the literature as a reference basis and author’s experience gathered during the implementation of various investment projects (in his thirty years of his professional experience), and in particular on the basis of the analysis of four case studies addressing large investment projects that were conducted in the residential housing market in Warsaw agglomeration, the proprietary proces development model was described and discussed in the article. In this context, specific consideration was given to the aspects related to management flexibility. The model consisting of 16 stages (grouped in 8 process development phases) was thoroughly described, with a particular focus on its strengths. In this respect and with reference to the management of investment projects there are also described process groups, recognized as integral elements of the management areas indicated by the PMBoK and PRINCE2 (including management of different areas such as integration, scope, time, costs, quality etc.) As a complement to those process groups, several additional management areas (which according to the author were omitted in other methodologies and standards- based management) were proposed and described (including value management or graphical elements management among others). Last but not least, the issue of flexible and innovative investment management was illustrated in practice by the case of the construction of the complex of residential estates Warszawa-Bemowo.

Turkish Politics
Turkey
Opis:
Turkey is a country that lies on two continents. It is o! en regarded as a bridge between Europe and Asia, or between East and West. This in fact implies that its inhabitants participate in two separate and somewhat conflicting sets of political values. On the one hand, those are the values of western liberal democracy. As a country in which periodic elections are held and there is a competition between political parties, Turkey is a democracy at least in the procedural or formal sense. On the other hand, there are oriental values related to the authoritarian political culture that goes back to the Ottoman Empire and to political Islam, that are often regarded as incompatible with democracy. The influence of these values on the Turkish political system has made some scholars to argue that a fully- edged liberal democracy is impossible in this country. Furthermore, the existence of these different sets of values had often in the past led to a political confrontation. For decades there has been a struggle in Turkey between the secular center, represented by the Kemalist establishment, and the peripheral political religious movements.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to show the potential of theatrical art in intercultural education, and more specifically in the process of taming the broadly understood Otherness. The first part of the study presents the conceptual categories: the Other and the Stranger in the perspective of intercultural education. The intercultural intentions of art are also characterized, with particular focus on theatre and emphasizing the role of theatre activities in developing attitudes of tolerance towards cultural diversity. The most important features of theatre allowing for the recognition of theatre as an effective and attractive tool for intercultural education were indicated. The second part of the study is related to educational practice, as it is a record of an original theatre project addressed to primary school students, aimed at sensitizing to cultural differences. As part of the project, a spectacle dealing with the issues of various dimensions of Strangeness / Otherness (biological, economic, cultural, geophysical, mental) was realized, emphasizing their relativity and contextuality. There were also theatrical and intercultural workshops referring to the performance and to developing the attitude of tolerance with the use of such theatrical techniques as: movement games, drama, theatre improvisation, voice games with theatrical intention.
Celem artykułu jest ukazanie potencjału sztuki teatralnej w edukacji międzykulturowej, a dokładnie w procesie oswajania szeroko rozumianej Inności. W pierwszej części opracowania przybliżono kategorie pojęciowe: Inny i Obcy w perspektywie edukacji międzykulturowej.

The article discusses the factors that support the motivation of teachers to implement school projects. Based on Self-Determination theory (Deci & Ryan, 1985, 2000), we present specific factors that influence and stimulate the motivation of teachers with regard to the perception of autonomy or control. What is essential for autonomous motivation is the satisfaction of basic psychological needs (autonomy, competence), whereas external incentives have an impact on controlled types of motivation. The results also point to important motivational factors underlying participation in school projects, that is, the perception of the personal significance and meaningfulness of the project.

Global education puts particular emphasis on showing the relationship between an individual and the global processes (Lipska-Badoti i in., 2011) which include changes in the landscape. It helps to shape responsible attitudes from an early age, independently from the place of residence. This paper presents the results of a survey conducted among students of one primary school in the Achada Grande Frente district of Praia (Cape Verde). In April 2015, the school took part in “In the Landscape” Foundation project entitled Global Garden Project. During the research, particular attention was paid to the issues related to the perception of landscape in terms of global education. A questionnaire survey and artistic workshops were carried out among the school’s students (children aged 8-14). After that a detailed analysis of these artworks was made. The components of the landscape, objects spaced on the pieces of paper were analyzed, and a typology of dendrological objects were developed. The analysis and interpretation of children’s works is a good source of information, helping to prepare an appropriate curriculum in the field of landscape education.

Opis:
The subject of the article covers issues related to the presence of neoliberal educational messages in school practice. The study contains an analysis of the teacher’s narrative, the purpose of which was to identify and describe elements that fit into neoliberal assumptions of education. The reconstruction of everyday school life (micro level) enabled the manifestations of instrumentalisation of education, rivalry and competitive aspects in the teacher’s work and the practice of forming homo oeconomicus at school. Commodification of an individual in free market conditions is reflected in a profit-maximizing school, i.e., achieving high results in external examinations owing to an educational process organized effectively, and minimizing costs by, for example, selecting students and by eliminating the “maladjusted” from schools. In the text, I outline a portrait of a teacher functioning professionally, who builds his profession on the foundation of neoliberal assumptions about education. I analyze the teacher’s understanding of school education, which is present in the teacher’s narratives, as a space for a specific market game and competition, defining the effectiveness of school work by high level of students’ examination results and the original concept of working with a supervised class reduced to the implementation of a business project.

The adopted research approach was based on educational team design (the case study method). Based on observations and peer conversations, the authors determined the conditions that facilitated constructive dialogue, and those that hindered the accomplishment of the group work in question.

This article discusses reflections on doing research with and about migrant children, focusing on addressing “race” and racialization processes as well as integrationist implications of “doing good” among both school professionals and researchers. The motivation is to contribute to a more nuanced understanding of how to research integration while also promoting a child-centred approach and taking children’s own understandings and opinions into account. Written at the threshold of the phase of analysing data from fieldwork with children, which is one of the main analytical tasks in the MiCREATE project, this article is a summary of some focus points and concepts that turned out to be of importance during the ongoing epistemic reflexivity process in the research project. Taking a point of departure in general methodological reflections on a structuralist-constructivist approach and on constant epistemic reflexivity, three approaches that could be useful in reflections and analyses are suggested: reflections on the concept of integration, on race and diversity, and on researcher positioning within a research project both while studying practices of “doing good” and aiming at “doing good” in itself as well.

Opis:
The study is an attempt at finding out the place of university education in the process of building a life project by young adults - students from Cieszyn in the Polish-Czech borderland. An important motif is undertaken here of young adults’ attitude to education, understood not only as the process of increasing their level of education, but mostly as raising their life competences and satisfaction with their life. One of the tangible effects of this process should be more conscious decision making and taking responsibility for oneself - for one’s life and choices. The group which can be most directly affected by this are university students, who are referred to in this study as “young adults”. They face a chance to acquire new skills in viewing the world and their place in it, which should grow along with the chance to notice and multiply their own resources in order to secure their future. The young adults studying at university in the Polish-Czech borderland constitute a group for whom this educational stage is a pass to adulthood and the events taking place in that stage co-create the quality of their life. These young adults are aware of the need to keep a high status of their knowledge and competences through profiled lifelong education, which is favourable for the evaluation of their life both as compliant with the developmental task for this period and as satisfying at this stage.
