The article presents the results of an Internet questionnaire examining high school graduates’ (general education high schools and technical high schools) perceptions on aesthetical and cultural education in the institutional context. The study was based on students’ narratives gathered by means of a purpose- designed interview questionnaire using the methodology of interpretive anthropology in relation to the perspective of an ‘insider’ or a ‘local’. The results were further organised accordingly with the strategy of horizonalisation, which made it possible to construct a model encompassing all the participants’ contributions.

The meaning of responsibility, especially in young adults, plays an important role in contemporary life. It has an impact on the family life, social relations, ways of a work performance and many other aspects. The problem of taking responsibility by present-day people is discussed on different levels and in different areas. The point of view of adult learners of the formal education system still remains overlooked in academic discourse. This article presents adult learners’ understanding of the concept of adulthood and its important component, responsibility. The present study examined opinions of learners attending upper secondary school for adults, using the phenomenography method. In anonymous survey with open-ended questions, 94 voluntary participants (aged 18–63) took part. This qualitative study examined how adult learners begin to recognize the importance of a sense of responsibility for themselves and how it influences their life. The results of the study indicate the traditional understanding of the concept of adulthood by adult learners. Personal development, as a result of a variety of life experiences, makes increase of the importance of responsibility for themselves, their family and surrounding. Though different life difficulties, awkwardness, lack of autonomy, the value of responsibility becomes more significant.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT IS a basic organizational form of political and social life consisting of three elements: the particular territory, the community that lives there and the authorites elected in general and democratic elections. Inhabitants of a particular local government unit constitute the local community being an example of constantly developing self-organizational processes among local society. Each local community is, in the eyes of the law, included in the administrative division of a country. Executive government in units of local government is in hands of local authorities chosen in general and direct elections. Commune administrators, mayors, or presidents (in large urban communities) as well as county council members are predominantly leaders of local political parties present on the political stage. The main purpose of this article is to present the opinions of local self-government leaders of the commune and county level on the major problems concerning the condition and perspectives of local governments in Poland in general. The local authorites’ suggestions and opinions, identified by the conducted survey, allowed the author to draw some conclusions and form generalizations. The observed phenomena presented in this article could provide the foundation for a deeper reflection upon the condition and quality of the political life in Polish local selfgovernment. The research of local community issues constitutes an essential part of politics as a branch of knowledge. The above article is an analysis of local communities functioning, on the example of the Bełchatów Commune and County, in the light of activities taken by the self-governing authorites.

W artykule zaprezentowano perspektywę Ukraińców mieszkających w Republice Czeskiej dotyczącą wybranych aspektów życia. Celem podjętych badań było ustalenie, jak Ukraińcy postrzegają życie w Republice Czeskiej, czeską kulturę i edukację, oraz co dostrzegają jako różnice i podobieństwa w obu kulturach i sposobach edukacji. Zwrócono uwagę, że badanie dotyczy subiektywnych doświadczeń, postaw i opinii indywidualnych respondentów. Dlatego, nie reprezentuje ono całej ukraińskiej mniejszości narodowej żyjącej w Republice Czeskiej. Grupa badana składała się z dwóch grup respondentów o następującym składzie: pierwsza zawierała 8 respondentów Ukraińców na stałe mieszkających w Czechach ponad 10 lat, w drugiej grupie – wywiad przeprowadzono wśród 7 ukraińskich studentów, uczących się w Czechach, oraz wśród ich rodziców. W badaniu zastosowano podejście jakościowe, a dokładnie metodę półustrukturyzowanego wywiadu z respondentami. Analizę uzyskanych danych przeprowadzono za pomocą otwartego, a potem osiowego i selektywnego kodowania.
In the paper, the perspective is presented of Ukrainians living in the Czech Republic on the selected aspects of local life. The research goal is to find out how the Ukrainians perceive life in the Czech Republic, Czech culture and education and what they see as differences and similarities of both cultures and ways of education. It is pointed out that the research includes the subjective experience, attitudes and opinions of individual respondents. Therefore, it does not represent the entire Ukrainian national minority living in the Czech Republic. The research sample consisted of two groups of respondents who had the following composition: the first group included eight respondents who were Ukrainians with permanent residence in the Czech Republic, living in the Czech Republic for more than ten years; in the second group, seven Ukrainian learners were interviewed, who were educated in schools in the Czech Republic, and their parents. In the research, a qualitative design was chosen, namely the method of semi-structured interview with respondents. The analysis of the obtained data was performed by open and then axial and selective coding.

The study deals with the consequences of national testing at the primary school level on the processes of education, teachers’ work in the classroom and the teaching profession. It is based on the international discourse about the consequences of large-scale testing and investigates Slovak teachers’ opinions and measures they have implemented under the influence of testing in their own instruction and school. The research, carried out by the questionnaire method on a sample of 786 (2017) and 940 (2020) respondents, confirms that teachers perceive national testing as too far from instruction and inconsistent with educational standards. They do not believe it can fulfil the set goals, but, on the other hand, because of it, they narrow down instruction to prepare for tests and take measures that do not change the quality of pupil learning.

This article aims to trace the transformation, which the term “humanities” (“human sciences”) was subject to from the early modern era to modern times. Its scope is limited to an indication of some of the key turning points in the history of understanding of the humanities by the humanists themselves, and to an identification of key categories that define the humanities (they include: paideia, studia humanitatis, république des lettres, and Bildung). The arguments contained herein are to serve rather as a voice, a contribution to the debate over the “crisis of the humanities”, which has been conducted more and more intensively for at least several decades.

The main causes of leave behind their home for unaccompanied minors are fear of persecution, human rights violations, armed conflicts and civil unrest, sexual exploitation, domestic violence, abuse, severe deprivation, gender-based discrimination, forced military service, search for new opportunities, the intention of joining the family already staying in Europe. The main aim of the study is to give a short present of the asylum procedure the minors are passing through. Summarizes the barriers to access to asylum procedures, the role of the guardian, the legal, medical and social assistance system for asylum seeker minors and the possible outcomes of the procedure and opportunities of appeal.
Głównymi przyczynami pozostawienia domu za życia dla małoletnich bez opieki są obawa przed prześladowaniem, łamaniem praw człowieka, konfliktami zbrojnymi i niepokojami społecznymi, wykorzystywaniem seksualnym, przemocą w rodzinie, znęcaniem się, poważną deprywacją, dyskryminacją ze względu na płeć, przymusową służbą wojskową, poszukiwaniem nowych możliwości, zamiar dołączenia do rodziny już przebywającej w Europie. Głównym celem badania jest krótkie przedstawienie procedury azylowej, którą przechodzą małoletni. Przedstawia bariery w dostępie do procedur azylowych, rolę opiekuna, system pomocy prawnej, medycznej i społecznej dla osób nieletnich ubiegających się o azyl oraz możliwe wyniki procedury i możliwości odwołania.

AUTHOR’S MAIN GOAL is a broad outline of a Czechoslovak legate Václav Girsa’s attitude towards Józef Piłsudski, his co-workers and the system of government that was introduced after the May 1926. An analysis of Girsa’s diplomatic reports showed the wide range of extremely negative opinions but it also proved that in some cases a Czechoslovak legate maintained an objectivity in spite of his prejudices. For example he did not devaluate Piłsudski’s achievements – Polish army restructuring or the rationalisation of a civil service. Girsa criticised Piłsudski’s co-workers for the total submission to Piłsudski’s will and their complete lack of initiative. According to Girsa Piłsudski was responsible for most of decisions made by Polish Foreign Office. A short biography of Girsa (focused mostly on his diplomatic work) can also be found in the article – in order to show the possible reason of his prejudices.

The problem around which this study was constructed is the contemporary art and a person, who creates this art – an artist, and their authentic perception by the child. A modern vision of the child too often shows the artist in a distorted, incomplete or reduced way. This kind of children knowledge, based on the patterns and stereotypes, reduces the reflectivity of children, unnecessarily distorts their judgment and closes the road ahead to a full and critical participation in the world. The study is based on the analysis of interviews and children’s drawings centered around the perception of the profile of an artist by children. It results from the analysis of the research material gathered during the study that this is a stereotypical vision, and the artist is still associated with a person who remains beyond the reach of “normal” society. The conducted research shows the diversity of the types of meanings that children aged 5–7 attribute to the term “artist” and “artistry”. The naive ideas on this subject created by children prove to be a collection of beliefs of a partially common and often completely different nature. For a pedagogue, the ultimate purpose of the research is to obtain knowledge which will allow effective changes in education, in this case, in art education. The investigation of meanings which children attribute to concepts concerning the artistic phenomena may allow to create a strategy of transmission of knowledge of art history and to design the creative activities connected with the broadly-understood visual arts.

The article presents findings on the image of a teacher in primary school described by the 3rd grade pupils. The research analysis clearly indicates that according to the children, in early education the image of a teacher is positive. The majority of the test children group indicate favourable features, like kindness, calm, pleasant behaviour, goodness, justice, wisdom, intelligence. First of all, the children recognize the advantages of a teacher, although smart and sensible children – the ones that the 3rd grade pupils definitely are – can also notice negative features, disadvantages, for instance: loudness, nervousness, injustice. The children can recognize personal, didactic, and educational features, as well as intellectual and external ones. Many of the feature groups mentioned above are listed. The pupils declare that the issue which was the core of the research is very important for them.

This contribution of a theoretical-investigative character deals with bullying in the school environment, understood by us as a pedagogic, psychological, and legal phenomenon. At the same time it is a problem which is presently necessary for society to be specifically determined, defined, urgently solved, and it becomes a subject of increased interest of both the professional and lay public due to its seriousness. In our research we focused on how an aggressor and his/her specific manifestations are perceived by his/her homeroom teacher. We have found out that homeroom teachers perceive manifestations of aggressive behaviour differently; they consider them to be risky and rank them into multiple categories of a pupil’s risky behaviour. And on the contrary, there are teachers that do not consider an aggressor’s behaviour to be risky according to any of the categories of a pupil’s risky behaviour. We have noted more significant differences in homeroom teachers’ perception of a boy or a girl as an aggressor.

In global jurisprudence and legal theory, we are currently observing a renaissance of interest in the thought of Ronald Dworkin, an outstanding legal philosopher, lawyer and humanist with an incredible sense of justice. There is still debate over the practical application of integral legal philosophy. Dworkin’s philosophy marks the “third way” in the dispute between legal positivism and the natural law approach. Using Dworkin’s concept of law, an attempt can be made to answer the question to what extent can the conscience of a person holding the office of a judge influence the process of making/applying law? The desire to look for positive patterns of creating and reforming law pushes us to analyze recent changes through the prism of Dworkin’s philosophy. The previous years have revealed to us a universal value and feature of our legal system a judge who interprets the law becomes the central figure of legal culture.
W światowym prawoznawstwie i teorii prawniczej obserwujemy dziś renesans zainteresowania myślą Ronalda Dworkina, wybitnego filozofa prawa, prawnika a także humanisty odznaczającego się niebywałym wyczuciem sprawiedliwości. Nadal toczy się debata nad praktycznym zastosowanie integralnej filozofii prawa. Filozofia Dworkina wytycza „trzecią drogę” w sporze między pozytywizmem prawniczym a ujęciem prawno-naturalnym. Korzystając z koncepcji prawa Dworkina, można podjąć próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie – w jakim stopniu sumienie osoby sprawującej urząd sędziego może mieć wpływ na proces stanowienia/stosowania prawa? Chęć poszukiwania pozytywnych wzorców tworzenia i reformowania prawa, popycha w kierunku poddania analizie ostatnich zmian przez pryzmat filozofii Dworkina. Poprzednie lata objawiły nam uniwersalną wartość i cechę naszego systemu prawnego – sędzia który interpretuje prawo staje się centralną postacią kultury prawnej. Polega on na swoich przekonaniach, ich sprawiedliwości i spójności.

This paper examines how the working conditions in Italy are represented in the literature of the last 20 years written by young authors, from the 1990s and the beginnings of Postmodernism’s influence on young people, up to the new century and its relative propensity for risk-taking. This article examines the changes that have occurred to society and its needs; emphasis is placed on the evolution of legal regulations and on the creation of the new literary topos, such as the call centre—a contemporary non-place of the precariat. In this article, much attention is paid to the necessity of writing as a method of capturing the reality, or simply as a way of making a living. The aforementioned issue, which is highly topical, became the subject of numerous novels written by the young and often unemployed. Especially in recent years, this literary protest emerged to condemn flexible employment contracts. It is worthwhile to mention the following recent works related to these issues: Il Mondo Deve Sapere (Murgia) and Generazione Mille Euro (Incorvaia, Rimassa), as well as the classic Tutti Giù per Terra (Culicchia). The literary aspects of this essay are enriched by the theories of Zygmunt Bauman, Richard Sennett, Ulrich Beck and Anthony Giddens to give an overall picture of the contemporary work conditions of the young, combining theory with real experiences.
L’articolo tratta della rappresentazione nella letteratura della condizione lavorativa in Italia degli ultimi venti anni da parte dei giovani scrittori. Dal 1990 e dall’inizio dell’influenza del postmoderno sui giovani, fino al nuovo secolo e alla relativa propensione al rischio, l’articolo esamina il cambiamento della società e dei suoi bisogni. L’accento viene posto sull’evoluzione delle norme legali e sull’evoluzione di un nuovo topos letterario, legato al call center, un contemporaneo nonluogo della precarietà. Nel presente lavoro l’attenzione viene posta sul bisogno della scrittura, come rappresentazione della realtà, ma anche come metodo di guadagno per i giovani. Questo problema, di grande attualità, è diventato il tema di numerosi romanzi, scritti da giovani spesso disoccupati. Specialmente negli ultimi anni è possibile notare questa protesta contro i contratti di lavoro flessibili. Vale la pena menzionare i recenti Il mondo deve sapere (Murgia), Generazione mille euro (Incorvaia, Rimassa), ma anche l’ormai classico Tutti giù per terra (Culicchia). L’aspetto letterario è stato arricchito dalle teorie dei più importanti sociologi di questa materia, come Zygmunt Bauman, Richard Sennett, Ulrich Beck o Anthony Giddens per offrire un quadro d’insieme della contemporanea condizione lavorativa dei giovani, unendo la teoria a reali esperienze.
