    In this article we explore and discuss the benefits of and the challenges that arise when using qualitative methods to conduct research internationally. We firstly discuss the relationship that writers of qualitative studies have with their readers and the implications of this for writing style. This is then followed by an overview of different aspects of data collection design. Within this section we discuss research that we have conducted, as part of a variety of international projects, using two qualitative approaches: systematic documentary research and interview. We then focus on using interview as a research method. This discussion regarding using interviews is divided into two chapters. Firstly, we discuss issues of access and sampling, then the interview itself and the analysis of interview data. The final sections involve a discussion of ways in which validity and reliability can be contextualised within qualitative studies, and also a discussion on generalisability and the possibility of theory generation. We conclude with sections on ethics and possible future directions for international qualitative studies into teacher education.

    Opis:
    The aim of this article is to examine two treaties which are often presented by scholars as potential models for a maritime regime in the South China Sea, namely the Svalbard Treaty and the Antarctic Treaty System. The work concludes that even though both of the treaties have resolved equally complex territorial disputes, their importance as a role model for the SCS is limited due to the unique political condition in the Asia-Pacific. However, the solutions within the sphere of environmental protection and the structure of decision-making institutions developed by the abovementioned treaties present a valuable lesson and a potential example for the countries involved in the South China Sea dispute to emulate. The article argues that cooperation within environmental protection and fisheries management, as a low-profile endeavour, is easier to be put into practice than the joint development of highly contested hydrocarbon resources of the SCS. Furthermore, it can potentially lay foundation for the future high profile collaboration. The paper also presents a model of a maritime regime for the South China Sea.
    Целью данной статьи является изучение двух договоров, которые часто пред- ставляются учеными в качестве потенциальных моделей морского режима в Юж- но-Китайском море, а именно Договора о Шпицбергене и Системы Договора об Антарктике. В работе делается вывод о том, что хотя оба договора разрешили одинаково сложные территориальные споры, их важность в качестве образца для подражания для СКС ограничена из-за уникальных политических условий в Азиатско-Тихоокеанском регионе. Однако решения в области защиты окружа- ющей среды и структуры институтов принятия решений, разработанные в рамках вышеупомянутых договоров, представляют собой ценный урок и потенциальный пример для подражания странам, вовлеченным в спор вокруг Южно-Китайского моря. В статье утверждается, что сотрудничество в области охраны окружающей среды и управления рыболовством, как скромное мероприятие, легче реализовать на практике, чем совместная разработка весьма спорных углеводородных ресурсов Южно-Китайского моря. Более того, это потенциально может заложить основу для будущего сотрудничества на высоком уровне. В статье также представлена модель морского режима Южно-Китайского моря.

    The paper presents thematic analyses relating to migration processes, situated between the Legacy of the Past and Challenges of the Future. The authors focus on a complex migration process referring to key factors that characterise it as well as dominant concepts in host societies: segregation and integration. The theoretical considerations undertaken in the text are primarily oriented towards presenting the diverse situation of Migrant Children and Youth “On the Move” as a category of the young generation affected by migration processes. The text is an attempt to reflect on the functioning of migrant backgrounds in the context of children’s and adolescents’ integration with the new place of residence. Particular attention was drawn to fragile areas generating distance, social exclusion and consequently hindering the process of integration.

    The aim of the analysis is to determine whether changes that have been forced by statutory regulations, recommendations addressed to political parties or changes in public awareness, consisting in increasing the number of women in parliaments, influenced on number of female in another sphere of political life. Do they influenced into an increase the number of women not only in the parliament, but also in leading positions such as the function of president, prime minister or minister? A review of the literature, reports and data from selected European countries shows that the introduction of coercion or incentives from the state aimed at policy-makers resulted in increasing the representation of women in politics. But it did not affect on the appointment an equally large number of woman on managerial positions in ministries. Finding out whether and why women are less frequently employed at valid positions seems to be important. For example due to the fact that many years have passed since the regulations of equal opportunities were introduced in many countries, and their impact is still controversial.
    Celem analizy jest stwierdzenie czy zmiany, które zostały wymuszone regulacjami ustawowymi, rekomendacjami skierowanymi do partii politycznych lub zmianami świadomości społecznej, polegające na zwiększeniu liczby kobiet w parlamentach, wpłynęły na wzrost liczby żeńskiej części społeczeństwa w innych sferach reprezentacji politycznej. Czy przekładają się na zwiększenie liczby pań nie tylko w parlamencie, lecz i na wiodących stanowiskach takich jak funkcja prezydent, premier czy ministerialna? Przegląd piśmiennictwa, raportów i danych z wybranych państw Europy dowodzą, że wprowadzenie przymusu czy zachęt ze strony państwa skierowanych w stronę podmiotów polityki zaowocowało co prawda zwiększeniem reprezentacji kobiet w polityce, lecz nie wpłynęło w równie dużym stopniu na powierzanie paniom stanowisk kierowniczych w resortach. Dociekania czy i dlaczego kobiety są rzadziej zatrudniane na eksponowanych stanowiskach wydają się być istotne. Choćby z uwagi na fakt, że od wprowadzenia przepisów czy wytycznych dotyczących zasad wyrównywania szans płci w wielu państwach minęło sporo lat, a ich oddziaływanie nadal wzbudza kontrowersje.
