Opis:
This article compares the two ways of celebrating Mass and also takes up the matter of the direction in which the priest celebrates it in the Ordinary and in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite. In the Extraordinary Form, the priest turns in the same direction as the worshippers, that is to the east or towards the cross (versus orientem). In the Ordinary Form, the norm is celebrating the Mass facing the people (versus populum), although it can be also celebrated versus orientem. The article draws attention that in both cases, the most important thing is directing thoughts to God, not the setting of the priest and the faithful participating in the Mass.

Opis:
The text entitled, “Liturgy of the Sacrificial Feast – the Communion with Christ and Brothers” presents an analysis of prayers and acts found in the Rite of Communion or that part of the Holy Mass which is leading from Our Father until after the Holy Communion Prayer. These Rites are imbued with the meanings connected with union with Christ, peace and union with our brothers. They allow the faithful to participate in God through the Divine Union with Him. In addition they expound the social dimension as the very word explains, that is “communio”. Separate elements of these rites represent as if steps, phases of this Communion.

Opis:
The publications of the late Bishop Adam Lepa (1939–2022) deal with the topic of the galenosphere as an environment of silence and its role in life and in the process of human education. A special and specific form of the galenosphere are those environments of silence that concern the sacrum. In this context, it is possible to speak of the importance of silence obligatory during the celebration of liturgy. The aim of the study is to show the nature and role of the galenosphere characteristic of the liturgy. Starting from an explanation of the concept of the galenosphere, the author of the study then goes on to show the close relationship that develops between silence and mystery on the basis of the analysis of the writings of Odo Casel (1886–1948), a Benedictine monk from the Abbey of Maria Lach in the Rhineland, founder of the mystery theory in sacramentology and an outstanding theologian of the liturgy. In Odo Casel’s optics, silence is a ritual form of personal participation in Christ’s action, which is realised on the sacramental plane, and not merely an expression of subjective piety. The aim of liturgical silence is therefore to pursue the mystery communion with the Logos. The next section of the paper, based on an analysis of the General Introduction to the Roman Missal, presents the location of moments of silence in the structure of the Eucharistic celebration, their theological and liturgical justification and their normative character. The final section of the article is devoted to the typology of liturgical silence. It discusses its following types: reflective, internalizing, meditative and adorative silence. It concludes by pointing out pastoral aspects related to the great importance of silence in the process of implementing the conciliar principle of participatio actuosa. Liturgical silence cannot be identified with “an inner haven in which to hide oneself in some sort of intimate isolation”, but is “a symbol of the presence and action of the Holy Spirit” (Pope Francis, Apostolic Letter Desiderio desideravi, no. 52). In this perspective of the pneumatological significance of moments of silence in liturgical celebrations, the demand to educate clergy and lay faithful to perform the symbolic gesture of silence with great care is particularly relevant from the point of view of liturgical formation.

Opis:
The article presents the sacrament of the Eucharist in the perspective of Sunday, because this sacrament is the source of the whole Christian life, and the Church lives thanks to the Eucharist (Ecclesia de Eucharistia vivit). It presents an overview of the major changes in the liturgy and the theology of the Holy Mass on Sunday, as well as the value of Sunday for the People of God. The liturgy, especially the Sunday liturgy, is not a theological treatise or a scientific lecture, but a celebration of the mystery of Christ, that is, the action of God himself together with the gathered People of God. It is an authentic confession of faith and a sign of belonging to the Church of God and union with him. The faithful, when they do not understand the spirit and meaning of the rites, withdraw, sometimes looking for other forms of religiosity. Therefore, there is a need to encourage, educate and prepare them for a fuller participation in the Sunday liturgy, which is, after all, of fundamental importance for the life of the Church and its individual members. It is the liturgy that effectively creates communion and educates to communion. The liturgy, especially the Sunday liturgy, lived in the full communion of the Church, reveals the entire mystery of Christ, from the Incarnation and Nativity to the Ascension and Pentecost, and the expectation of the blessed hope and coming of Christ. It is the realization of God’s plan of salvation and the continuation of the history of salvation to which all are called.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to discuss the main assumptions of the Directory of the Polish Bishops’ Conference on the Celebration of the Holy Mass Broadcast on Television published on 14 March 2017 and to answer the question about the difference between watching the Holy Mass on television and direct participation in the Eucharist. The liturgy is the work of the Holy Trinity, a constant “sacred exchange” of blessings, a dialogue in which the people of God participate. The dialogical (relational) structure of the liturgy demands, therefore, an authentic relationship between man and God. God “needs,” as it were, the human “you” to whom He speaks and who responds to Him. The recipient of the broadcast liturgy, unlike the members of the liturgical congregation, who form a real community, does not participate directly in the anamnestic narration of the events of the Cenacle and Golgotha, because ritual anamnesis demands the unity of place and time, that is, the current, physical presence in the place of remembrance. There is, therefore, a fundamental difference on the ontological-sacramental level between the Holy Mass in which we participate and the transmitted image of it. The “mediatized” Eucharist is not and never will be the Holy Mass. Listening to and watching the Mass is not tantamount to direct participation in it, and therefore does not allow one to fulfill the obligation to participate in the Mass on Sundays and the prescribed feasts. Nevertheless, the broadcasts of the Mass have pastoral value, since they enable the sick and elderly who are unable to go to the place where the Eucharist is celebrated to establish a spiritual bond with the faithful who participate in the Eucharist in a particular church. They are, therefore, an integral part of the pastoral care of the sick. The broadcasts of liturgy in media also have evangelistic and formative dimensions since they are a carrier of evangelical content and can also serve as a bridge for people who do not know the Church or who have lost contact with it, enabling them to have contact with the Word of God and with the liturgy. The preparation of a Mass broadcast on television requires multifaceted, harmonious and creative collaboration of both those involved in the liturgy itself and the media team so that it can fulfill its pastoral purpose.
