    Piekary Śląskie najczęściej kojarzone są z sanktuarium Matki Bożej Piekarskiej – Matki Sprawiedliwości i Miłości Społecznej. Pielgrzymki stanowe mężczyzn i kobiet do Piekar Śląskich mają doniosłe pastoralne i kulturotwórcze znaczenie znacznie przekraczające granice Kościoła lokalnego. Podczas pielgrzymek bardzo mocno akcentowana jest tematyka społeczna. Przemówienia biskupa katowickiego oraz zaproszonych kaznodziejów nawiązują do aktualnych problemów społecznych i gospodarczych. Ich przesłanie stanowi przykład zaangażowania w rozwiązywanie problemów społecznych XXI wieku. Celem niniejszego opracowania jest odpowiedź na pytanie, w jaki sposób metropolici górnośląscy korzystają z prawa wydawania opinii „na temat wszystkiego, co dotyczy życia osób, ponieważ zadanie ewangelizacji pociąga za sobą i wymaga integralnej promocji każdego człowieka” (EG 182), jakie treści społeczne poruszają najczęściej. W celu odpowiedzi na to pytanie analizie poddanych zostanie jedenaście przemówień abpa Damiana Zimonia i dziewięć przemówień abpa Wiktora Skworca wygłoszonych podczas stanowych pielgrzymek mężczyzn i młodzieńców w latach 2001-2020.
    Piekary Śląskie is most often associated with the sanctuary of Our Lady of Piekary – Mother of Social Justice and Love. State pilgrimages of men and women to Piekary Śląskie have significant pastoral and cultural significance, meaningfully exceeding the boundaries of the local Church. During the pilgrimages, social issues are strongly emphasized. Speeches by the bishop of Katowice and invited preachers refer to current social and economic issues. Their message is a testimony of commitment to solving the social problems of the 21st century. The aim of this study is to answer the question of how Upper Silesian metropolitan bishops exercise their ‘right to offer opinions on all that affects people’s lives, since the task of evangelization implies and demands the integral promotion of each human being’ (EG 182), and which social issues are discussed the most often. In order to answer this question, we will analyze 11 speeches by Archbishop Damian Zimoń and 9 speeches by Archbishop Wiktor Skworc delivered during state pilgrimages of men and youths in the years 2001-2020.

    The preaching of the word of God is among the primary tasks and duties of those elected to the ministerial priesthood. The ministry of the word aims at awakening faith in the hearers or at strengthening it. This action, however, does not depend solely on the preacher of the word, but is first an effect of God’s action. God acts constantly through His living words, which, adapted to man’s capacity, become the source of faith in him, that is, of the reception of revelation in its definitive form. Faith already gives man a certain, albeit limited, share in eternal life, and preaching ultimately aims to fulfil God’s desire: that all may be saved. What makes the preaching of the word of God still effective even after two thousand years? That is the question this article discusses, pointing out that this effectiveness depends on a double concomitance between the divine and the human: one in the preacher and the other in the hearer.

    The Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy announced in the bull Misercicordiae vultus by the Holy Father Francis, becomes an opportunity to reflect on the priestly vocation in the context of the truth about mercy. The practice of authentic mercy is a fundamental task of priestly life. In this perspective it seems that the mercy as the style of the priestly life requires to be presented again with new enthusiasm and with renewed pastoral activity. This is a key task for the Church. Therefore, the moral-pastoral reflections included in this publication aim to - in the light of the documents of the Church, especially the writings and statements of popes: John Paul II, Benedict XVI and Francis - encourage in the Holy Year to rediscover and revive the sense of identity and essential tasks of priestly ministry fulfilled primarily in preaching and practicing the virtue of mercy.

    W artykule omówiono kaznodziejskie nauczanie Grzegorza Wielkiego na temat postaw i zadań głosiciela i słuchacza Bożego słowa. Zarówno bowiem od kapłana, głoszącego słowo, jak i wiernych, którzy słuchają słowa, zależy końcowy efekt. Tak więc głosiciel słowa powinien być świadkiem głoszonej prawdy, któremu zależy na zbawieniu powierzonych sobie wiernych. Nie powinien zajmować się niczym, co odciąga go od duszpasterstwa. W takim bowiem przypadku będzie jedynie najemnikiem, a nie pasterzem, który zna swoje owce. Nawet najbardziej gorliwa posługa słowa nie przyniesie owoców, jeżeli wierni nie będą przyjmować głoszonych prawd do swego serca. Sprawdzianem przyjętego słowa jest codzienne życie wiernych.
    The paper discusses the proclamatory teaching of Gregory the Great on the attitudes and tasks of the preacher and the hearer of the Word of God. Both are significant as the final effect of the preaching depends on the priest who proclaims the Word as well as on the faithful who hear the Word. Therefore, the preacher of the Word should be a witness of the proclaimed truth who is concerned for the salvation of the faithful entrusted to his care. He should not engage into any activity that interferes with his pastoralministry. Otherwise he would be merely a hired hand not a shepherd who knows his sheep. However, even a deeply committed ministry of the Word will not bear fruit if the faithful do not receive the proclaimed truths into their hearts. The everyday life of the faithful is a test of their reception of the Word.

    The text of the article is an analysis of selected issues from the teaching of Rev. Zygmunt Pilch (1888–1962) PhD, who directed his thoughts not only to students of preaching but also to preachers. His teaching is still relevant today. The homiletics lecturer appealed to the preachers of the Word of God that they were obliged to communicate the Word of Salvation to the world. The text of the Holy Scriptures, according to the homiletics teacher, is a natural source of preaching, as it is the Spirit of God Himself who speaks through it, through the teaching Church. From the inspired text, the preacher should draw content, spirit, anointing, life and grace. A preacher reading the Scriptures is bound to grasp the meaning of God’s speech. By reading the text, he looks for thoughts and meanings, wanting to capture the inner content of the text. The primary concern in reading the Bible is to know its literal meaning, which is directly apparent from the words of the text. There is also a typical sense in the holy books. The preacher’s task is to convince the faithful to live by faith, according to the Lord’s thought contained in types. Reading the Word of God requires appropriate methods that understand its symbolic meaning, revealed in allegories. Christ often made use of parables as the means of visual teaching, drawing images from everyday life. Devoted completely to preaching, Z. Pilch reminded that the Holy Scriptures, being the treasury of the revealed truth, were the main literature for every preacher. The teaching of the prelate Zygmunt Pilch seems to be still relevant and is still an undiscovered treasury.
    Tekst artykułu stanowi analizę wybranych zagadnień z nauczania ks. dra Zygmunta Pilcha (1888– 1962), który swoje myśli kierował zarówno do uczących się kaznodziejstwa, jak i do kaznodziejów. Jego nauczanie jest wciąż niewygasłe. Wykładowca homiletyki apelował do głosicieli słowa Bożego, że są zobligowani do przekazywania światu Dobrej Nowiny o zbawieniu. Tekst Pisma Świętego, zdaniem profesora homiletyki, jest naturalnym źródłem kaznodziejstwa, gdyż z niego przemawia sam Duch Boży za pośrednictwem Kościoła nauczającego. Z tekstu natchnionego kaznodzieja winien czerpać treść, ducha, namaszczenie, życie i łaskę. Kaznodzieja zapoznający się z Pismem Świętym jest zobowiązany do uchwycenia sensu Boskiej mowy. Poznając Biblię, szuka myśli i znaczenia, aby uchwycić wewnętrzną treść tekstu. Pryncypalną troską przy czytaniu Pisma Świętego jest poznanie dosłownego sensu, który to bezpośrednio wynika ze słów tekstu. W księgach świętych istnieje również sens typiczny. Zadaniem kaznodziei jest przekonywanie wiernych do życia z wiary i według wiary, zgodnie z myślą Pańską zawartą w typach. Odczytanie świata wymaga odpowiednich metod, które ukażą jego znaczenie symboliczne ujawniające się w alegoriach. Chrystus często posługiwał się przypowieściami, które — czerpiąc obrazy z codziennego życia — stanowią środek nauczania poglądowego. Oddany całkowicie kaznodziejstwu Z. Pilch przypominał, że Pismo Święte, będące skarbnicą objawionej prawdy, jest naczelną literaturą dla każdego kaznodziei. Nauczanie księdza infułata Zygmunta Pilcha wydaje się nadal aktualne i stanowi nieodkrytą do końca skarbnicę wiedzy.

    Artykuł przedstawia Kościół jako głosiciela Ewangelii współczesnemu światu w świetle adhortacji apostolskiej Ojca Świętego Benedykta XVI Verbum Domini. Papież Benedykt w swoim nauczaniu bardzo mocno akcentuje miejsce i rolę słowa Bożego w życiu Kościoła, a także przypomina o konieczności głoszenia go całemu światu. Misja głoszenia Ewangelii została powierzona Kościołowi przez Chrystusa. Oznacza to, że ewangelizacja mieści się w wpisana została w naturę Kościoła. Głoszenie słowa Bożego nie może odbywać się tylko w ściśle określonych grupach. Ojciec Święty naucza w Verbum Domini, że Kościół zawsze musi być otwarty na Ducha Świętego, który posyła go z dobrą nowiną krańce świata. Dziś głoszenie słowa Bożego ściśle wpisuje się w dzieło nowej ewangelizacji. W sposób szczególny podlegają ją zlaicyzowani chrześcijanie żyjący na całym świecie. Ze słowem Bożym należy docierać także do migrantów, cierpiących i ubogich. Przyjęcie słowa Bożego prowadzi człowieka do czynnego zaangażowania się w życie świata i przemienianie go według zasad Ewangelii. W misję głoszenia Ewangelii i przemiany świata winni być zaangażowani wszyscy chrześcijanie.
    The article presents the Church as a proclaimer of the Gospel to the contemporary world in light of Pope Benedict XVI’s Apostolic Exhortation Verbum Domini. In his teaching, Benedict XVI emphasizes very strongly the place and role of the word of God in the life of the Church and reminds us about the need to proclaim it to the whole world. The mission of proclaiming the Gospel was entrusted to the Church by Christ. This means that evangelization has been made an integral part of the Church’s nature. Proclaiming the word of God cannot be limited to chosen groups. The Holy Father teaches in Verbum Domini that the Church always has to be open to the Holy Spirit who sends her with the Good News to the ends of the world. Today, proclaiming the word of God has become an inherent part of the new evangelization. It is especially needed by secularized Christians everywhere. The word of God must also reach migrants, the suffering and the poor. By receiving the word of God man is led to an active engagement in the life of the world and takes part in its transformation according to the precepts of the Gospel. All Christians must take part in the mission of proclaiming the Gospel and transforming the world.

    The word is a mighty ruler capable of performing miracles. Proclamation of God’s Word was and still is one of the most important tasks of the Church. The Word of God awakens and deepens faith. The preacher undertakes a responsible task collaborating with God himself. This responsibility goes beyond the limits of worldliness. Reading and studying the Bible is not sufficient. It is essen- tial to join talent and knowledge together with prayer. Therefore, prayer should be the foundation of priest’s spiritual life. Proper preparation and fruitful preaching is closely related to the spiritual life of the preacher of God’s Word. Immersed in prayer preacher is a credible witness of Christ and a living sign of God’s presence in the modern world. The preacher must be convinced of what he teaches. There is no shortage in the Church of those who are a model of preaching based on their prayer. The word of God they had proclaimed was a masterpiece. The Word that matured in prayer was like gold received from God to pass on to man.
