    In my text I refer to contemporary art practices, including my own artistic investigations and intuitions; questioning creative powers of the human brain-mind system in the world increasingly dependent on and transformed by Big Data. Currently, with the global revolution of knowledge, driven by scientific and technological progress, creativity and innovation acquire special economic and social values. Research on biochemical processes accompanying creative behaviour stimulates the synergy between artistic, scientific and engineering communities. The acquired knowledge is used in medicine, biotechnology and various types of therapies as well as in deep learning methods. Increasing the efficiency of artificial intelligence systems that quickly take control over all areas of our lives. Will the nascent Internet-of-all-Things transform itself into the Internet-of-all Minds? As an artist, I pose myself a question, which artistic practices may emerge from the marriage of biological and digital algorithms? The future has many scenarios and shades…

    Tematem tekstu są ekslibrisy Brunona Schulza, które autor Sklepów cynamonowych wykonywał dla znajomych. Są to przede wszystkim wyobrażenia związane z erotyką. Bardzo często o dość „mrocznej proweniencji”, gdyż nawiązują do masochistycznych wątków jego twórczości, demonicznych kobiet i ich nieokiełznanej siły zmysłowej. Na marginesie wskazane zostają też inne drobiazgi wizualne: szkice, projekty, cegiełki, zaproszenia, tzw. druki ulotne. Stają się one ważne o tyle, o ile pozwalają wyjaśnić genezę ekslibrisów pisarza. Celem artykułu jest wykazanie, że biblioteki i przestrzeń wirtualna, jak pokazał czas, to miejsca, obszary współczesnej aktywności archiwistycznej, twórczej i odbiorczej, które pozwalają te wszystkie materiały skatalogować, utrwalić, zachować, a więc powołać do życia raz jeszcze… dla przyszłych pokoleń.
    The present article discusses the book plates designed by Bruno Schulz which the author of Sklepy cynamonowe [The Street of Crocodiles] created for his friends and acquaintances throughout his life. The book plates mainly feature erotic images that relate to specifically created topics and, quite frequently, are of somewhat murky and morally questionable provenance, since they clearly relate to masochistic threads, demonic women and their unbridled sensual indulgence. On a side note, the article also discusses other minor visual elements such as sketches, designs, blueprints, donation certificates, invitations, i.e. the so-called ephemera. These available snippets of ephemera become even more important as they allow us to explain the origins of the book plates under investigation. The underlying goal of the article, however, is to show that libraries and virtual space in general are, as it has been proved in time again and again, exactly the right place and areas of modern archival practice that allow us to catalogue, process and preserve these materials, thus make them ready for revival for future generations.

    The objective of this paper is to identify and define the main differences in modern Western and Classical Indian approaches to the theory of art, and by extension to the work of art itself. It is important in research on the history of art to avoid a cultural bias resulting from different theoretical approaches towards art and the basis of visual culture. Three main areas are examined: the classification of art or art disciplines, the theory of the senses and strategies in the perception of art. The first part analyses concerns about the origin of art, its boundaries and inner divisions. This serves top identify the scope of the Field of Art, connections between disciplines (theatre, music, painting, sculpture, etc.), and their position in the Art World. The following Sanskrit treatises serve as a basis: Nāṭya-śāstra, Kāma-sūtra, Viṣṇu-dharmôttara-purāṇa. A significant distinction can be found in the theory of the senses. Based on Saṃyutta Nikāya, Nyāya-sūtra, Vaiśeṣika- sūtra, etc. classical concepts of sensual perception and their roles are examined, with special emphasis on the position of the mind (manas) as a sixth sense or inner organ linked to senses. With that background, a brief analysis of the theory of taste (rasa), including the roles of emotion (bhāva) and mind (manas), is presented.

    Opis:
    The starting point of my considerations is the category of the theatre of memory, taken from Francis Yates’ book Art of memory. The category was applied in the book in relation to ancient traditions and mnemonic techniques. In the article I attempt to reinterpret this category and apply it in the description of the contemporary practices of commemorating and reminding of the Socialist Yugoslavia’s experience in space and through space. I am interested in the artistic activities of contemporary visual creators who in their works deal with the subject of SFRY. Referring to the example of the works of the artists belonging to different generations, I discuss two trends seen in the reception of this historical experience. Metonymic approach (Szombathy) is based on problematizing one’s own biographical experience as a part of the G reat H istory, while the metaphorical recognition (Cibic) means a search for universal content in what is historical and local.

    This paper tends to explore ,Fontane's picture gallery' referring to its genesis, characteristic and effect. In doing so the art critic Fontane is improving a distinctive image as an expert especially of English art und of the at that time in Germany leading Dusseldorf School of Painting (Düsseldorfer Malerschule). Furthermore it will be set out how the writer Fontane is acting in his work with pictures and pictorial perception. Eventually there is a suggestion for recovering ,Fontane's picture gallery' to make it possible for the contemporary audience to read Fontane's works in a wider and subtly differentiated manner.
