Opis:
The article offers various systematisations of career theories. In the most general spectrum of classification, two criteria can be found: the content of the theory: content theories; process theories; content-and-process theories, and the constitutive factors of career: prescriptive theories; lifecycle theories. The highlighted classifications of career theories integrate and synthesise accounts, whose structural contents indicate a variety of different sources and cognitive perspectives, constituting a review of the thought regarding the career development process in a particular historical context, as a time period in which they have been established. Various contexts of apprehending the career issue lead to changes in its “theorising”.

Definition of political theories imagination I propose in the context of Wiktor Marzec’s paper Rebelion and Reaction, which is a study from field of historical sociology, it’s in itself a lot of inspiration for theorists of politics: research, theoretical and methodological. It is worth considering – in this context – fundamental categories of political science, like political subjectivity and the political, also revalidate in their range.

The study explores trainee teachers’ opinions on selected aspects of the languageteaching profession. Reflecting on the reasons for becoming a teacher, on a language teacher’s professional qualities, and on the positive and negative aspects of the profession appears to be necessary at the starting point of professional training. A qualitative method was employed to collect the data. The students were asked to answer four survey questions pertaining to the issues mentioned above. Thirty-five undergraduate students completed the survey. Their answers were then analysed, which resulted in suggesting some procedures that could be implemented in the training programme. The findings revealed generally positive attitudes to the language teaching profession. However, some actions should be also taken to eliminate a few subjective theories that could negatively influence the students’ approach, such as the feeling of having power over learners, or controversial ways of dealing with discipline problems in the classroom. The study emphasised the role of reflection in the initial stages of teacher training

Opis:
Emotion is crucial to living and learning. The powerful intertwining of emotion and cognition ignites learning within a complex dynamic system, which, as several sections of this paper show, also includes societal and cultural influences. As “the primary human motive” (MacIntyre, 2002a, p. 61), emotion operates as an amplifier, which provides energetic intensity to all human behavior, including language learning. This chapter explains major theories of emotion drawn from positive psychology, social psychology, social constructivism, social constructionism, and existential psychotherapy. It also offers implications for language learning related to understanding and managing emotions; expressing emotions appropriately despite cultural and linguistic differences; viewing emotions as transitory social roles; enhancing positive emotions and developing resilience; and recognizing, perhaps paradoxically, both the negative and the positive aspects of anxiety. The chapter concludes with the statement that language learners can become more agentic in dealing with their emotions. This form of self-regulation can lead to greater success in language learning.

In light of Freire Today, this paper aims to present the results from a case study in Vietnam about the teachers’ perception of education with the recognized signals of being oppressed and the oppressors in their teaching. This study was conducted to clarify the problems preventing education to be developed in this context with the participants from 3 provinces in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam. The qualitative data was collected through using a mixture of 7 interviews and 10 opened-question surveys due to the geographical difficulties. The data collection was framed by using the Padilla’s (1994) techniques of unfolding matrix for data analysis. The findings show that the authoritarian education remains unchanged or slowly transformed with the signals of the teachers as both the oppressors to their learners and the oppressed in their working system. The findings would be meaningful during the ways to figure out the real challenges of current Vietnamese educational system in which critical theories could be considered as one of the possible solutions.

Opis:
Several authors have researched workplace circumstances and employee performance in organisations. Personal observations, documented observations, and discoveries in the literature all provided an incentive for this investigation. Some systematic observations revealed that academic staff in Nigerian universities are subjected to some unfavourable workplace conditions, even though they are expected to perform well in teaching, publish quality research papers that can contribute to global knowledge and development, and engage in community development services. Major theories have attempted to explain employee productivity in the workplace. Using secondary data, this article explores the Two Factor model by Fredrick Herzberg, the Contingency theory of leadership and the Expectancy theory by Victor Vroom. They were most relevant in associating motivating factors with the work performance of employees in the organisation. The criticisms of each theory have paved the way for theoretical triangulation and, thus, a synthesis of all three theories to explain the work performance of academic staff members in Nigerian universities. The article resolved that incentives are indeed essential in order to increase the performance of academic staff in Nigerian universities.

The purpose of this article is discourse analysis of masculinity created in reports assessing the current condition of Polish startups. The analysis covered reports published by the Startup Poland foundation from 2015-2019. This text is an attempt to apply the heuristic framework of integrative gender theories to interpret the results of the research, and explain how the discursively masculinity was constructed. Startups as innovative professional structures belonging to the knowledge-based economy model are an example of organizations typical of the information society. Numerous studies report changes (crises) occurring among the practiced male patterns (especially those typical for the countries of the global North). The results of the analysis show that despite these reports, the largest startup organizations striving to produce innovative solutions and using modern solutions, on the discursive surface, are associated with cultural patterns of hegemonic masculinity. Polish startups, on a structural and symbolic dimensions, are a highly masculine spaces. However, due to the practice of achieving hegemony, they (startups) can be interpreted in terms of cooperative or hybrid masculinity.

The world of social norms and values is constantly embedded in the teacher’s actions and the educational theories they recognise, in their didactic end educational successes and failures, in professional adaptation and evaluation, in didacticism and educational inspiration, and in the case of a few, in educational leadership deprived of the external and personal world. In every dimension of the teacher’s pedagogical activities there is a link between the acquired theoretical knowledge and the professional attitude. The pedagogical approximation into specific theories and pedagogical ideas is illustrated by the professional attitude of the teacher, interpersonal relations with students and the teaching staff. The knowledge of pedagogical paradigms, the realization of diverse ideas can be a factor in a teacher’s pedagogical success, as there is no single theory, explaining and suitable for a specific school community in the educational space. Contemporary pedagogical theories, like never in the past, are becoming a creator of social mentality in multicultural environments. They are becoming a “civilizational hope” for the reduction of traditional “prescriptive-distributive” thinking, as well as subject-based, directive and authoritarian education, and educational impossibilism in schools. Contemporary pedagogical controversies around the relationship of education and leadership do not have antagonistic content, elements that are pedagogically and socially opposed. They interact with each other in various and multi-level ways in the space of humanistic pedagogy and human resource management, they are a pedagogical dualism in the sphere of descriptive and relational narrative, critical thinking, without space for academic logomachia. The growing interest in the teacher’s autonomy, teacher’s independence, the dimensions of the presence in the pedagogical community, and the pursuit of individual needs are issues of external educational affiliation. What educational and cultural dimension should constitute the pedagogical habitus of a modern teacher? From the content of many pedagogical publications, a conclusion emerges that in education, it is not the teachers who become the motivators of exceeding knowledge and skills for themselves, but the students who exceed their teachers. Such a confrontation of the two worlds: teachers, representing institutionalised education and students (more precisely: learners), having one common goal – mutual understanding, which already requires a change in the generation paradigm, methods of operation, education (students and teachers), modification of the education already acquired, transformation of the model of “becoming” a teacher (usually based on authority – still traditional) more effectively appealing to students and systematic use of the new technological solutions in the education process. Increasingly, many pedagogical ideas and theories are starting to signal the need to transpose the role of the teacher in the spectrum of expert-conceptual practitioner, which is based on the methods and techniques of learning, i.e. critical thinking.

The work reveals  the extraordinary topicality of the typology in modern times, with still the observed  lack of cooperation between psychologists and educators dealing with pedagogical  axiology, the theory of upbringing and education. The typology survived thanks to  the treatises of an outstanding scientist – Professor Janusz Tarnowski, whose dissertations in the field of personal-existential pedagogy of dialogue are reconstructed in  this work and supplemented with philosophical interpretation by Tadeusz Gadacz  in order to understand why the Le Senne’s typology is absent from social sciences  and humanities as the basis for modern upbringing and self-education.

In my article, I present the person metaphor as the constitutive term for the theory of artificial persons. The point of departure for my deliberations, in which I try to demonstrate the nature of metaphorical expressions used in building legal theories, is a statement by Paul Kirchhof, who demanded that metaphorical expressions be eradicated from positive (statutory) law. In my article, I ask whether the demand can also be applied to theoretical deliberations of lawyers on the nature of law.

Opis:
Lev Semenovich Berg was born in Bendery, in Moldova. He had great success as an ichthyologist and geographer; he also proposed, in 1916, an interesting theory of loess formation. As a biologist he was persecuted by Lysenko and the Soviet state in the time of pseudo-science in the 1930s and 1940s. Despite his being persecuted, the loess theory became, in effect, the official Soviet theory of loess formation. This theory had to be compatible with his ‘landscape’ theory which did not find favour in Marxist-Leninist geography. Berg’s loess theory was very much a geographical theory, as opposed to the geological theory of aeolian deposition, which was accepted outside the Soviet Union.Berg was hugely successful in many fields, but his contributions to loess science tend to be neglected. His ‘soil’ theory of loess formation has been widely disparaged but still has some influence in Russia. The concept of loessification may still be relevant to the later stages of deposit formation; the slow transition from metastable to collapsible may be best described as loessification.
