The development of fine motor skills in preschool and early school age children is a difficult and long process, and its disturbance may not only lead to serious problems with the process of drawing or writing, but also disrupt the purely academical learning. That is why it is so important to take into account the overall effects of improving manual skills, the specificity of the child’s perceptual and motor functioning at a given stage of development and to respect the key elements of the diagnostic and improvement strategy.

Small children show a lot of media activity: they are perfectly capable of handling new technologies, they have been using them since the first years of their life. What activities they show depends on the family home and the behaviors they observe with their parents. With their support and providing positive patterns, the child can become not only a passive media user, but also an active media content creator, a kind of mediacreator, which over time will have a real impact on the reality in which he grows up. In the article, I present some of the results of the my research, in which I checked what role the media plays in the life of a child in an early school age. I try to answer the question, what media activities are displayed by children – whether it is only passive and imitative, or maybe they are actively creating media content.

The paper presents the issue of social transmission by Kazakh parents concerning disability, especially their knowledge of disability and content of conversations with their children. Diagnostic survey method, survey technique and the author's questionnaire with open-ended questions were used. The analysis of content of the written statements shows that the parental message in the inclusive group compared to the general population more strongly emphasizes the attitude of tolerance and nondiscrimination of the disabled peer. Research confirms the impact of social context on the knowledge, attitudes and the image of a person with a disability and these results are consistent with those of other authors.

Democratic and governmental transformations require students to develop numerous civic skills that will allow them to fully participate in adult life and enjoy all civil rights. They constitute a very important link in the school education cycle, but above all, in civic education. The student government creates one of the most important forms of social activity available to students, which allows them to develop, among others, organizational skills. It also furthers the child’s development. Active participation in the student government is an indicator of students’ self-awareness and development; it directs their activities towards cooperation and readiness to carry out tasks for the benefit of the school community. However, despite numerous educational aspects, creating optimal conditions for the functioning of the student government is the most difficult task of a modern school (Sowisło, 1996, p. 7).

Stress is an integral part of our lives. It also applies to our childhood. That is why it is so important to know how children cope with stress (how they learn coping strategies) and to equip them with the skill set to cope constructively with stressful situations throughout life. This article describes strategies for coping with stress that are characteristic for children at the end of early school education. They have been identified in the course of my own research aimed at characterizing child stress and relate to a fragment of research activities aimed at 8- and 9-year-old children. The research established that in some children the developmental process of coping with stress has started: children look for, investigate, and think how to cope with difficulties. In this struggle, however, they focus on people ho could be a source of support for them in coping with stressful situations. Among children’s stress coping strategies, an important role is also played by emotionally focused strategies, which are aimed at reducing negative emotions and arousing positive emotions.

Stress as an individual phenomenon is a specific kind of emotional experience usually associated with negativeemotions and analysed in their context. However, under certain circumstances stress may also trigger positive emotions; analysing a stressful situation and reflecting upon it may lead one to perceive benefits of stressful experience and undertake positive reappraisal of encountered difficulties. The author’s own empirical research reveals that a considerable percentage of children finishing their early-stage school education believe that it is possible to find something advantageous, good and positive in stressful situations full of negative emotions. Examples of such positive aspects of stress given by those children indicate that for some of them the developmental process that involves coping with difficult situations has already started. The children begin to act independently (analyse the difficult situation, talk about it, ask questions, check the effectiveness of strategies) in order to overcome difficulties and find their meaning in human existence.

Grading children is of great importance in the educational process. It allows children to learn about their abilities thus shaping their self-esteem and also to define themselves in relation to other people, points to resources and areas for work, builds motivation to undertake further activity, which is why it is particularly important for students with mild intellectual disabilities. However, the grading process is very complex and requires teachers’ knowledge and skills in this area. The aim of the research was to determine what dilemmas in grading students with mild intellectual disabilities teachers of mainstream schools have. The results obtained show that the grading this group of students gives teachers many difficulties and it is therefore necessary to make many changes in this area to make evaluation a factor supporting the effectiveness of education of children with mild intellectual disabilities, and thus a factor that optimizes their development.

Opis:
The article presents research on the structure and content of the concept of sadness, based on the statements of preschool and early school age children. The research was carried out in a transverse (transversal) system among children selected from six age groups: 4.0−4.11, 5.0−5.11, 6.0−6.11, 7.0−7.11, 8.0−8.11, 9.0−9.11. Data collected from a sample of 240 children were used to analyze the test results. There were 20 girls and 20 boys in each of the six designated age group. In order to describe the content and structure of emotional concepts the experimental technique created by S. Grabias (2012) was used. It allowed to obtain an information on six basic components of a given concept, i.e. definition/definition category, carrier, features, activities, causes, circumstances /effect and in addition his assessment. When describing the emotions of fear, the youngest children mainly used tautological definitions containing synonyms and the oldest ones were dominated by abstract definitions. When talking about the symptoms of emotions, the surveyed children focused primarily on the perceptual indicators of experiencing it. The face and changes in facial expression are particularly significant to them. When describing a person experiencing fear, preschool children mainly referred to typical behaviors related to this emotion, i.e.: afraid, shouting, crying. Analyzes concerning the indications of children for the activities performed by the carrier of the emotion fear show that among the respondents in general, flight from the object of fear was dominant. In the opinion of the surveyed children, the main cause of fear are situations related to the violation of physical body, causing fear and anxiety in humans. Children’s descriptions of reactions to other people’s fear reflect their own tendency to self-regulate, that is, finding ways to deal with experiences. Fear in the perception of the respondents is a negative emotion.

Studies into Children Development from 0 to 3 Years
Opis:
This paper is a review of Polish academic studies into the topic of early child education and care (up to three years of age), published over the course of the 20th Century to the present day, with the main focus on institutional daycare. The majority of academic papers on the subject of early childhood in the context of public institutional daycare were focused on nursing and development, while nursery schools as such were most frequently regarded solely as an alternative to being brought up in a family. The dominant notions in the relevant literature are those of care (including mainly nursing, nutrition and preventative care), development and education. Among the works published after 1945, the majority were nursing handbooks or elaborations on psychology. Certain components of basic early childhood ‘didactics’ can be identified in the papers by Halina Spionek and Hanna Trawińska, as well as in the journals from the 1960s through to the 1980s. The 1970s also saw a number of papers dedicated to the implementation of proper everyday practices into nursery schools and improving the quality of their services. Research on the social spaces of nursery schools was also undertaken in the late 1990s by a team of pedagogues in Łódź, while the economic and social conditions of nursery school operation was examined a group of scholars from the Białystok School of Economics. Currently, the topic of early education in the context of institutional daycare is being explored with growing interest, however, in the overall field of pedagogics it still remains under-researched.

Children from foster families are a specific group of students because they are often disabled, have special needs, difficulties and experienced violence or neglect. Foster parents have to face challenges related to their upbringing. The text is a scientific report presenting the opinions of foster parents on their cooperation with teachers. For this purpose, an interpretative paradigm was adopted and phenomenography was applied. The subjects (21 foster parents of school-age children) participated in three focus group interviews. Qualitative data analysis was used to identify positive and negative aspects of the foster parents’ experiences in cooperation with the school. The article is focused on the personal level of this cooperation. The answers provided by the parents in the study reveal predominance of negative experiences and emotions in this respect. The subjects pointed to such problems as: failure to notice and understand children’s problems/difficulties, the lack of individualization, maladjusted requirements, incompetence of teachers and the absence of informational feedback from the school. However, some respondents noticed positive elements of cooperation with teachers, such as the ability to recognize the child’s needs and problems by teachers and educators, sharing information about the child, taking into account the information provided by parents and adapting requirements to the child’s abilities. The results were used to develop recommendations aimed at improving cooperation between the school and foster parents.

Chronic condition may, in time, become a specific kind of „stigma” that determines the formation of a specific “conveyor belt” which determines the trajectories of the fate of children and adolescents. Analysing the functioning of children and adolescents with a chronic condition, for which the school should provide (as for other students) the conditions of learning, both in the cognitive and in the directional aspects, one may indicate not only the imperfections of educational activities, but also a myth of noble ideas inscribed in the function of school, as a place of universal development of every student. The article is a proposal of employing, within the process of educating children and adolescents with a chronic condition, an eclectic model of activities, based on their complexity and sequentiality. The model refers to models proposed by Frederick C. Thorne, or Richard James, used in situations of crisis intervention: the equilibrium model, the cognitive model, and the social change model.
