    Opis:
    Classical concepts of human development elaborated in the 20th century do not take into consideration the normative development of homosexual people. On the other hand, the depathologization of homosexuality has resulted in an increase of knowledge about gays’ and lesbians’ performance and health. The process of homosexual identity formation, usually beginning in adolescence, has been recognized and well described in the field of psychology. However, this knowledge is rarely integrated with general theories of human development. The article presents the developmental challenges of adolescence and points out the limitations and possibilities of Erikson’s theory in incorporating the experiences of homosexual adolescents. The authors discuss the specific difficulties minority adolescents face growing up in a heteronormative culture and the main stages of homosexual identity formation. The article ends with a reflection on the possibility of integrating the concept of homosexual identity development with Erik Erikson’s theory of identity crisis and its potential solutions in adolescence.

    Opis:
    The main intention of Samuel Nowak—the author of Sexual Capital—is to define “what the mass media are for men labelling themselves as gay, taking into account various, although always treated collectively, contexts: economic, political and medial”(p. 9). The sub-title of the study, which defines the direction of the whole text, is Wyobrażone wspólnotysmaku i medialne tożsamości polskich gejów (“Imagined Communities of Taste and Medial Identities of Polish Gay Persons”). In the Nowak’s study, important is the evaluation from outside (as viewed by science) and from within (as viewed by proponents of LGBT). The critical review of Sexual Capital is compatible with the structure of the original text: originally focuses on scientific theories in order to end with the examples from Polish medial realities.

    The article takes up discourse on the development of the career theory that demands taking into account multicontextual changes in the world of work that pose new challenges for women. The subjective shading of the career phenomenon that treats career as an individual’s "property" was clearly stressed. When analysing individual paths of career development for both women and men it is necessary to take its wide scope of conditions into account, as well as inquire into semantic meanings assigned to the reality by the subject in order to interpret and understand past and new experiences. The focus on professional behaviours among women led to considerations on the change of the career concept in its general sense and meaning. Literature on the subject consistently underlines that career patterns will be less and less of a linear character, and more frequently of a sequential and cyclical one. The increase in the role assigned to career forces one to approach it within the category of professional identity development, planning and management skills, and the ability of monitoring one’s career in a lifelong perspective.

    The article is asort of analysis of hip hop lyrics in the context of their importance for identity formation process of young generation. Rap music, as one of the elements of hip hop culture, is a kind of special innovation for its audience. With rising interest for this musical genre and hip hop culture the discussion on formulating the issues through the prism of rap music’s message has been increasing. The article presents certain aspects of making sense to the reality, which surrounds young artists, as well as some attempts at interpretation of already formulated social messages and their content. On one hand, the content is presented as a piece of announcement or message, which expresses young generation identity through the music. On the other hand, the content is a kind of confrontation between young audience and various messages presented in particular piece of music. In the article various hip hop productions are analyzed. The analysis is based on objective attitude towards the problem and presents both positive and negative sides of the issue, which have an in uence on identity formation process of teenagers.

    Soon after attaining independence on October 1, 1960, the newly created nation-state – Nigeria had to wrestle with post-independent political realities. These combined with the legacies of colonial rule, and the prevalence of ethno-religious politics, led the country into civil war in 1967. Since 1960, Nigeria has experimented with different forms of government and achieved some degree of economic growth but is still plagued by the agitation of self-determination in the form of secessionist campaigns, be it the Biafra or the Oduduwa and Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND). To place the discussion in perspective, the paper reviews the existing literature on the subject and also discusses Edward Azar’s protracted social conflict (PSC) theory as the theoretical base. Upon laying the theoretical foundation, the paper situates and evaluates the agitation for self-determination in Nigeria in the light of PSC. Lastly, the paper concludes that instead of seeking self-determination or territorial disintegration, the polity of Nigeria should historically revert to the practice of congenial and connected regionalism.
    Niebawem po tym jak Nigeria uzyskała niepodległość, 1.10.1960 r., państwo to musiało zmierzyć się z nowymi realiami, potęgowanymi kolonialną przeszłością oraz sporami pomiędzy licznymi mniejszościami religijno-etnicznymi. Efektem była m.in. wojna domowa, która wybuchła w 1967 r. Od samych początków swej państwowości Nigeria eksperymentowała z różnymi formami rządów, którym udało się wprowadzić kraj na tory umiarkowanego rozwoju ekonomicznego. Niestety państwo to wciąż zmaga się z ruchami separatystycznymi nawołującymi do secesji poszczególnych prowincji państwa, np. Biafra, Oduduwa, czy Ruch na rzecz wyzwolenia delty Nigru. Artykuł ten ma na celu m.in. omówienie literatury przedmiotu oraz analizę wspomnianych ruchów separatystycznych ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem ich działal ności agitacyjnej. Podstawę metodologiczną dla autora stanowi teoria przewlekłego konfliktu Edward Azara. Zdaniem autora nigeryjski system polityczny zamiast opierać się na realizacji prawa do samostanowienia poszczególnych grup etnicznych wchodzących w skład Nigerii lub podziałach terytorialnych prowadzących do dezintegracji państwa, powinien powrócić do modelu opartego o regionalizację. Zakłada on autonomię regionów, które współpracując ze sobą w ramach jednego organizmu państwowego potrafiłyby w znacznie efektywniejszy sposób realizować swoje potrzeby, zarówno na poziomie poszczególnych grup etnicznych, jak też i na poziomie jednostki ludzkiej.
