    The author of the paper presents the concept of teaching in the STEAM model in relation to the necessity of building competence of tomorrow among pupils of primary schools and even preschools. The author sets forth the status of digitisation of Polish schools in the light of the most extensive Polish digitisation survey: the 2017 Digital Diagnosis. The author primarily discusses the conclusions from studies pertaining to the status of digitisation of the Polish schools in the context of implementation of the STEAM model as a concept for developing competence of tomorrow. Results of studies conducted in June 2017 among pupils, parents and teachers are presented. The study was prepared and conducted by a team of researchers/academic employees of the Faculty of Education at the University of Warsaw in cooperation with PCG Edukacja under the supervision of the author of this paper. The study encompassed 100,129 respondents from primary schools, middle schools, high schools, technical schools and vocational schools from all provinces in Poland.     The so-called latest technologies in the world of today constitute an indispensable component of teaching or learning foreign languages. Given as an obvious element of social life, they are regarded by teachers as effi cient tools for acquiring and perfecting various skills, such as communicative ones. The dynamic development of the multimedia, also in the area of language teaching, incessantly faces language teachers with new challenges, whose aim is to fully utilise the potential of the latest technologies in the process of language teaching that respects learners’ individual needs. The aim of this article is to present possible ways of using the multimedia, helpful in drawing language lesson plans for vocational language groups. The article deals with the area of communication and information technologies used in the classroom as these have recently undergone changes. Also, a discussion is presented of the advantages and disadvantages of the latest multimedia used in the didactic process. The article also seeks to answer the question how much the latest technologies cater for the needs of specialist glottodidactics.

    The dynamically developing global IT infrastructure and the increasing importance of modern information technologies represent a huge challenge in the process of socialization and education of children and young people. Undoubtedly, it is extremely important to prepare current and future generations for a skillful use of modern technologies. Therefore, it is essential to implement new technologies in the teaching process at all levels of education as well as during preventive and therapeutic activities. This study analyzes the functioning of three institutions that use modern information technology within educational, preventive and therapeutic interventions. These institutions have been selected to be environmentally diverse, show the international context and demonstrate a different potential for ICT use. The main objective of the research was to identify innovative ways of using modern technologies in supporting educational and compensatory activities undertaken by selected institutions.

    The article touches upon the issue of influence of modern digital media on the attitudes of recipients/ broadcasters (digital communicators) related to their creative activities. The first indication applies to the fact that the development of digital technologies introduces a new digital order of communication (from the primary order, through the secondary and hybrid order, to the digital order), which in turn provides communicators with a broad spectrum of new methods and tools of communication 0 including tools permitting creative activities. Second of all, it is noted that despite the mentioned rich offer of digital tools and the promotion of creative attitudes, digital media, in particular global social media, are dominated by attitudesof re-production related both to common re-distribution of existing content (sharing, copying and pasting, etc.), and even limiting creativity entirely (likes, tags). The remarks made are compared to opinions of digital media researchers and neurobiologists indicating on the one hand the weakening/ dissolution of the reception of content by digital media (the negative effect of multi-tasking), and on the other hand, the supersaturation of emotions related to the reception of content (negative influence of computer games). In conclusion, attention is turned to the necessity of establishing in contemporary communicators (on all levels of education) of digital communication competences, in particular the promotion of creative attitudesrelated to these competences.

    This comparative small-scale (Libyan and Polish sample) qualitative study investigates two educational models of iPads’ implementation and integration with the overall pedagogical objectives in early education in Libya and Poland. The basic methodological frame was video-ethnography supplemented by semi-structured interviews with parents, teachers and children. The questions asked were designed to recognize how technology might fit within the school’s overall vision. The results indicate that each technology initiative can be potentially transformative for schools, teachers and students. The iPad as an open educational tool encourages a student-centered model of learning, whereas teachers predominantly use frontal teaching methods. Furthermore, the teachers in the two countries have considerably different perceptions and expectations regarding the role and outcome of mobile technology.

    Regardless of how the contemporary young generation is described, there is no doubt that their permanent connection to the Internet and an incredible expertise in using information and communication technologies are one of the features that define those who grow up at the present time. Such strong involvement in digital media entails a number of health and development consequences for children and teenagers. In order to minimize the potential risks and negative effects of new media, it is essential to take action aimed at increasing awareness in terms of positive and negative aspects of using digital devices as well as at gaining abilities to use them in a way that is the most optimal and favourable for health. Currently, this issue constitutes a great challenge for teachers, parents, and carers for whom implementing health-seeking attitudes and behaviours of the young generation may be, taking into consideration the attractiveness of electronic media and virtual world, an enormously difficult task.

    W artykule autor omawia główne zjawiska związane z technologiami będące reprezentatywnymi dla drugiej dekady XXI wieku, które najsilniej oddziałują na odbiorców (szczególnie na dzieci i młodzież), a tym samym na edukację. Opisuje relacje między technologiami a nauczaniem ze szczególnym skupieniem się na pozytywnym oraz negatywnym ich wpływie na kształcenie. Przedstawia główne zasady działania technologii cyfrowych, a także powiązanych z nimi nowych mediów (i dalej tzw. nowych nowych mediów). W dalszej kolejności przywołuje dane dotyczące poziomu komputeryzacji Polski i zestawia je z poziomem komputeryzacji polskich szkół. Prezentuje aktualne podstawy programowe informatyki oraz języka polskiego w kontekście ich nawiązań do technologii cyfrowych i cyfrowych kompetencji komunikacyjnych.
    In the article the author discusses the main phenomena related to technologies that are representative for the second decade of the 21st century, which have the strongest impact on recipients (especially on children and teenagers), and thus on education. The article describes the relationship between technologies and teaching with a special focus put on the positive and negative impact on education. The author of the article also presents the main principles of the operation of digital technologies and related with them new media (or so-called ‘new new media’). Furthermore, the article also presents data of the level of computerization of Poland and compares them with the level of computerization of Polish schools. The author presents the current core curriculum of computer science and the Polish language in the context of their references to digital technologies and digital communication skills.

    Nowe technologie na gruncie edukacji mają swoich przeciwników i zwolenników. Autorka artykułu przekonuje, że należy je „oswoić”, aby w pełni wykorzystać ich potencjał w nauczaniu. Model SAMR opracowany przez Rubena Puentedurę definiuje cztery poziomy integracji technologii w procesie edukacji. W tekście przedstawiono, w jaki sposób na zajęciach języka polskiego można wykorzystać nowe media. Część zasadniczą artykułu stanowi przedstawienie przykładowych narzędzi (m.in. Aurasma, Classcraft, Blogger) oraz możliwości ich zastosowania w pracy z uczniami.
    New technologies in the field of education have their opponents and supporters. The author of the article argues that technology should be “tamed” fully to use its potential in teaching. The SAMR model developed by Ruben Puentedura defines four levels of technology integration in the education process. The text shows how new media can be used in Polish language classes. The main part of the article is the presentation of exemplary tools (including Aurasma, Classcraft, Blogger) and the possibilities of their use in working with pupils.
