Opis:: Wśród dokumentów pozostawionych przez posłów i kancelarię królewską najbardziej wiarygodnym dowodem odbycia poselstwa są listy uwierzytelniające. Zwyczaj ich składania znany jest od czasów starożytnych. Jednak obszerna literatura dotycząca historii XVI-wiecznej dyplomacji nie poświęca tej problematyce większej uwagi. Istotny dla losów Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej był okres panowania Zygmunta Augusta i reorientacja priorytetów polityki zagranicznej. W artykule przedstawiono wiarygodny, oparty na złożonych listach uwierzytelniających, wykaz posłów, którzy reprezentowali interesy Zygmunta Augusta na dworze Habsburgów wiedeńskich. Podczas kwerendy w austriackim Haus-, Hof-, und Staatsarchiv w Wiedniu odnaleziono 45 listów uwierzytelniających z lat 1534–1568.
Among the documents left by royal envoys and the royal chancellery, the most credible evidence of being a part of a legation are the letters of credence. The custom of presenting them has been known since ancient times and it continues to this day. However, the extensive literature concerning the history of diplomacy in the 16th century does not devote much attention to this subject matter. The reign of Sigismund Augustus was a significant period for the fate of Central and Eastern Europe. The epoch when the last male representative of the Jagiellonian dynasty ruled was a time of reorientation of foreign policy priorities in the history of diplomacy of the Polish Crown. Therefore, the article aims to present a credible list of royal envoys, on the basis of the submitted letters of credence, who represented the interests of Sigismund Augustus at the court of the Habsburgs in Vienna. While conducting the research in the Austrian Haus-, Hof- und Staatsarchiv in Vienna, 45 letters of credence dated from between 1534 to 1568 were found.

Opis:: Komunikat prezentuje oprawę kolońskiego druku z 1568 roku. Zwierciadło jej dolnej okładziny zdobi wycisk plakiety z popiersiem króla Zygmunta II Augusta. Literatura przedmiotu podaje kilka przykładów egzemplarzy opraw ozdobionych być może za pomocą tego samego narzędzia introligatorskiego.
The communique presents the binding of a printed book published in Cologne in 1568. The lower part of the cover vignette of the book is embellished with a bust of Sigismund August II of Poland embossed in the binding. It should be added at this point that the relevant literature of the subject includes a number of examples of bindings decorated with ornaments that might have been embossed by the same binding device.
