Undoubtedly, we have time when, as a result of the dizzying pace, young people grow up in “bizarre cultural patterns”. In the author’s opinion, modern youth are growing up in the space of eccentric signposts that lead to escape in the so-called “New Worlds”. Based on the results of empirical research on experimenting with drugs, psychoactive substances and other risky behaviors, it indicates the causes and effects of escaping in the so-called “New Worlds”.

Lewicki Arkadiusz, Prosta droga do melancholii. O antyutopii 451 stopni Fahrenheita Raya Bradbury’ego i jej filmowych adaptacjach [The Easy Route to Melancholy. 451 degrees Fahrenheit by Ray Bradbury and its Film Adaptations]. „Przestrzenie Teorii” 32. Poznań 2019, Adam Mickiewicz University Press, pp. 257–272. ISSN 1644-6763. DOI 10.14746/pt.2019.32.13. The article is an attempt to interpret Ray Bradbury’s anti-utopian novel 451 degrees Fahrenheit, published in 1953, and two film adaptations of this book: the film directed in 1966 by François Truffaut and Ramin Bahran television adaptation from 2018. All versions have a similar story structure and tell about the near future, in which the main task of the fire department is burning books. The differences consist in shifts of emphasis within the world presented. The author proves that the 1966version shows a possible world, which is “an audio world”, while in Ramin Bahrani’s work we are dealing with the “pictorial world”; in the 1966 film the written word is replaced by sounds and the spoken word, and in the version from 2018 by paintings. These differences indicate not only different possibilities for interpreting Ray Bradbury’s novel, but also transformations that took place at different levels of the reality surrounding us.

The experiences mentioned in the essay are: arrival in the world, the gaining of an objective, the revelation of the expansiveness of the world, the first contact with the world’s residents, world routines, travel to the world’s boundaries, and the completist’s exhaustion of the world when one has seen and experienced everything.

Is a question, whether it is possible to separate the religion from the vegetarianism? Religions differ from themselves. However they agree as for the need for the moral behaviour and ethic. A charity and sympathizing towards the poor one are core values. These values are valued highly by all religions of world.

Paul Otlet’s visualizations of data integration seem to have some distinct parallels with the hypertext used in the World Wide Web. Researchers representing different disciplines (e.g., media specialists, sociologists, IT specialists and librarians) all indicate essential similarities between the attempts at the information and search system conceived by the Belgian author and visionary and that of the WWW. Accordingly, the article aims at finding an answer to the question whether Otlet’s visualizations are convergent to a certain degree with the WWW and whether the authors of the Web modeled their work on the Otlet’s achievements?

Opis:
The study elucidates a topical problem related to the manifestation of characteristic parametric features of such important concepts as the lingual picture of the world, the conceptual picture of the world, the artistic picture of the world. In the course of the investigation, the process of formation of linguoconceptology as an independent field of research is considered, the meaning of the term linguoconceptology is clarified, the object and subject of this approach along with its purpose and objectives are revealed. We conclude that linguoconceptology is based on the identification and study of concepts, as well as means that represent them. The picture of the world is a set of ideas of a person about the world. Conceptual and lingual pictures of the world are intertwined: the former objectifies knowledge in the human mind, which is accumulated through the lingual picture of the world, though it is much broader; the latter implies a means of studying certain individual or national characteristics of human behaviour through modelling concepts. The artistic picture of the world stands out as it is built on the basis of the actualisation of both objective and subjective representations of the world simultaneously, as well as on human consciousness, which borders on the unconscious and illusions

Formative specifics of the German language creates particular conditions for forming neologisms and the related linguistic creativity. The degree to which neologisms are formed in contemporary German can be for instance easily observed upon the ‘Wortwarte’ project. Some of the neologisms considered as such by the authors of the ‘Wortwarte’ project shall be discussed in this article. The object of the linguistic analysis are neologisms from the world of politics. During analysis some interesting aspects referring to the form and specifics of contemporary neologisms have been pointed out i.e. word class presented by the analysed neologisms, their construction (i.e formative models upon which they have been formed), their components (i.e. native or foreign elements constituting them) as well as their semantics.

Poland and Polish nationalism are widely identified with Catholicism. However, the population of the Polish state was not homogenous ethnically and religiously – in 1921 the number of ethnic/confessional minorities reached the high level of over 30 percent. The Second World War was a fundamental change in Polish history – the new people’s republic, formed after 1945, has been a totally different state from the Second Republic of Poland, which existed 1918–1939. Unfortunately, very little is known about the impact of Churches (Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox) in shaping the Polish, Ukrainian, Belorussian and German nationalisms during the wartime as well as the attitudes of clergymen towards the German occupants.

Opis:
Thanks to the work of Pascale Casanova, Franco Moretti, David Damrosch and many others, over the past two decades, the concept of world literature has once again become the subject of thorough examination within the field of literary studies, especially in relation to cosmopolitanism and globalization. When it comes to the study of individual national literatures and specific regional contexts, as well as to the definition of comparative literature as a discipline, debates regarding its background, its reach and limitations could not be ignored. World literature thus appears as a heterogenous entity – always manifesting in different contexts in different forms – consistently in dialogical exchange with specificities of a particular literature and culture. Instead of discussing the problematic relation between centre and periphery or criticizing the idea of global literary and cultural canon, the avant-garde as an international and global phenomenon that appears even more radically on the so-called periphery is what is of primary interest to me. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to demonstrate that avant-garde (in its various forms and radical expressions) simultaneously challenges art as an institution and introduces the idea of a decentred geography of world literature.

The poetic texts of priest Pasierb present a peculiar sensitivity to the names of colours. The author of Koziorożec ( Capricorn ) paid particular attention to the role  of light, hence his works present a separate category of expressions regarding light and darkness, flash and brightness. It is the result of, among others, the culturallyconditioned evaluation of light and dark and the related axiological attitude towards the world. Also present are numerous lexemes situated in the lexical field of, for instance, red, yellow, golden, blue, black and white. The collected material shows that the names of colours present in Pasierb’s works do not so much name reality as co-create the mood of particular texts, creating as a result a set of delicate poetic impressions.

The text focuses on presenting the issues related to the process of young people’s building and developing identities and on underlining the impact of a broadly understood technology on this process. The very concept of identity, subject to many approaches and theories, is also discussed. The text draws attention to the school and the teacher as elements whose task should be to help students to cope with the challenges that today’s (postmodern) world presents to young people. The goal is to enable the best conditions for self-development and building a stable and mature identity in an ever-changing environment. Technology is not seen only as a threat to man and his identity. However, the lack of a solid theoretical basis, regarding the impact of technology on identity building and preparation of appropriate preventive behavior, increases the risk of a negative impact of technology. The authors of the text strongly believe that changing the paradigm of human behavior can bring about beneficial effects on humanity, on the environment and on the entire planet.
