Opis:
To make the political presence of women more visible in modern public discourse it is necessary to work out a language that would represent them appropriately. An analysis of the rhetoric of the Women’s Party (Polish: Partia Kobiet), established in 2007, shows how this problem is handled by the officials of the party. The starting point for the discussion is the thesis that rhetoric discourse is initiated and shaped by a given rhetoric situation (as understood by L.F. Bitzer). In the analysed instance, it is determined by: 1) social and political circumstances surrounding the emergence of the party, no deep-rooted feminist tradition in particular; negativism in the approach towards women’s movements in general reflecting senses and moods dominating within society, marginalisation of women’s issues and women’s voices in mainstream political discourse, 2) historical conditioning and culturally dominant position of the male model of discourse in public address, 3) the attempt to get involved in the discourse as wide audience as possible, coupled with the belief that the sense of unity is to be based on the gender identity. The analysis of the texts available on the web page of the party, viewed as being fully of representative nature for the party, shows that the rhetoric of the Women’s Party is not heterogeneous. It oscillates between the rhetoric of co-operation (through the agency of which the party looks for tools instrumental for achieving some kind of agreement and dialogue in the public debate) and the rhetoric of hatred, already well-established in Polish political discourse (which undermines the formerly mentioned conciliatory attitude in dialogue and co-operation). As a result, a type of a communication ensues that is not free from paradoxes and one that makes a creation of a coherent and consistent message impossible, and therefore hinders a creation of a credible image of the party.

In post-pandemic time a redefinition of politics and globalization is more than possible. There are a lot of possible scenarios – one of them is the cooperative model as an antidote to the polarized politics and corporative driven globalization. The aim of this short discussion paper is to present the proposal of the shift from corporationisim to cooperationism as a functional model in addressing challenges locally and globally.

The paper discusses the role of women in public life, in particular in the realm of politics. Surveys show that women do well in free market economies, where they rank quite highly in the European Union (35% of employers), whereas their participation in politics is considerably smaller. The paper presents the data on women participating in the highest bodies of representational authorities and local governments, as well as their achievements in the Women’s Parliamentary Group and their struggle to obtain parity on electoral ballots, concluded by winning a 35% quota.

Opis:
The paper is dedicated to the issue of the relations between sport and politics. Its aim is to explore examples of connections between sport and politics in the situation of conflicts between states. An attempt was made to indicate the ways in which political rivalry is transferred to the world of sport, as well as the aims of the states and the determinants of their actions. The analysis encompasses the following ways in which sport is used politically: competition in the Olympic Games medal ranking, desire to win prestigious contests, hosting sports events, participating in international sport and sports boycotts. As a result of the research, it was observed that assigning political meaning to sport in situations of political confrontation between states is connected either to the desire to enhance a nation’s prestige, or to hit other actors in international relations. It was also observed that non-democratic states particularly often use sport for political reasons.
Analizie zostały poddane następujące sposoby przenoszenia do świata sportu politycznej konfrontacji pomiędzy państwami: rywalizacja w klasyfikacji medalowej igrzysk olimpijskich, rywalizacja związana z prestiżowymi starciami sportowymi, organizacja imprez sportowych, udział w międzynarodowej rywalizacji sportowej oraz bojkot sportowy. Zauważono ponadto, iż państwa niedemokratyczne mają szczególną tendencję do wykorzystywania sportu w celach politycznych.

The article presents the concept of political education in Germany in the years 1950-1990, specifically taking into consideration its role in building democracy, as well as identity and the development of civic competences. This paper also outlines the terminological problems in civic education from the Polish and German language perspective, and the institutional and legal determinants used in political education. The main point of reflection is the analysis of the stages in the institutional development of civic education in Germany in the years 1950-1990. The final conclusions may be useful in social and political studies, or in the implementation of innovative systemic solutions in civic education today.

The purpose of this article is to present the concept of three-fold theology (theologia tńpartite) combining mythical, civil and natural aspects, a theory abundantly discussed in Greek and Roman literature, spanning sources from the first century BCE (Plutarch, Ps.-Plutarch, Dio Chrysos-tom, Varro) to the Christian authors of the fourth and fifth centuries CE (Eusebius, Augustine, Tertullian). The paper also inquires into the origin of the theological trichotomy of theology, assessing those writings in terms of stoic influences, sińce stoicism is most likely the framework within which the theory first arose. Towards the end, the paper recounts how the three types of theology fiinctioned in the culture of Greece.

The main aim of this paper is an analysis of the region in general form and to look at innova- tion and knowledge in the European Union’s economic growth and social security strategy. The research objectives here encompass the presentation of the innovation system and knowledge in promoting entrepreneurship, the theoretical concept of the innovation system and process at the level of the region, the knowledge-based economy, constructed advantage, the constructed advantage provided by the Triple Helix model, Europe 2020 strategy, Innovation Union and Horizon 2020 as the financial instruments implemented by the Innovation Union. An important result of the research is the conclusion that in the innovation process the connections between science (universities), market (industry) and government are very important. There is a positive dependence between innovation activities and the effectiveness of the innovation process. More interaction and cooperation can be observed on the regional than on the state level. The new programmes of scientific and innovation research, Europe 2020 and the Innovation Union, are very important factors in the strategy of the European Union’s economic growth and social security.

The paper focuses on the relationship between spoken language and standard language. It describes the process of choosing one of the spoken varieties as a basis for a general national language. However, this is a political decision. Linguistics is a secondary tool used in an ideological construct of a nation as an imaginary community. Therefore, any national language is culturally marked. The standard language is used to geographically connect members of a community; it also relates modern users to their ancestors. Politics and linguistics must also rely on the educational system to teach the users one language and to communicate that they are a single nation.

The aim of this article is to enumerate the main types of discourses in which the phenomenon of hunger is represented. These are following: culture of hunger (an anthropological and ethnological term describing cultural formations based on the problem of famine), politics of hunger (starvation used for political reasons), poetics of hunger (hunger as a component of a piece of art). The question about the difference between the presence of hunger (hunger’s narrative) and the representation of hunger (narrative of hunger) is the main problem of this essay. Brejnak claims that on the one hand, there is no unnarrated hunger (a natural/pure hunger) in cultural communication. On the other hand, he underlines that the experience of hunger as such is non-transitive and verbally inexpressible.

The article traces the process of elaboration of education policies in women’s education in the Northwest of the Russian Empire by different agents of the imperial state on the central and local levels in the 1830s–1860s. The principal goal is not the history of education in a gendered perspective but rather the history of female social roles and national differences in this troubling imperial borderland. The ethnic and confessional markers of difference in the analysis aimed at producing a complex and dynamic picture of conjuncture of social, national, and gender discourses as well as idiosyncratic local considerations in contradictory efforts of imperial social engineering are complicated by the gender marker.

This article emphasizes the important but rarely analyzed aesthetic-political dimension of the relationship between the Roman Catholic Church and the state. The author synthetically discusses the development of the inner consciousness of the Church of Rome (in its relation to the power) in three nodal epochs: in the Church of Leo the Great and his successors, in the Church of the Gregorian reform and of Innocent III and in the nineteenth-century Church. According to the author’s conclusion: it can be shown that the key to understanding the relationship of the Church of Rome to the state power is the phantasmatic belief in the superiority of own ecclesiastical authority over every other power, a belief developed originally in the self-awareness and in the emotional and aesthetic self-emplacement of the great popes of the 5th and 6th centuries.

The object of the linguistic analysis are neologisms from the world of politics. During analysis some interesting aspects referring to the form and specifics of contemporary neologisms have been pointed out i.e. word class presented by the analysed neologisms, their construction (i.e formative models upon which they have been formed), their components (i.e. native or foreign elements constituting them) as well as their semantics.

The position of Socrates in Plato’s earlier dialogues is often seen as an anticipation of contemporary political theories. This article takes issue with the claim that Socrates anticipated modern theories of deliberative democracy. It examines three early Platonic dialogues (the Apology, the Crito and the Gorgias) and argues that the Socrates presented in the dialogues is actually far more dogmatic in ethical as well as religious matters than such annexations of Socrates can acknowledge. Furthermore, Socrates does not develop a theory that would support Athenian democracy. Although politically inactive within the Athenian political framework, Socrates is nonetheless depicted in the Gorgias as formulating an “ethical” view of politics. According to this conception, true politics is always virtue‑ oriented. It is a matter of improving the characters of one’s fellow citizens, and is detached from the question of how political power should be distributed. Socrates’ political outlook is echoed in several Hellenistic philosophical schools, the Stoics in particular.
