Opis:
The modern model of state education in Russia promotes patriotism and devotion to the authorities. Young people must be proud of their origin and, in spite of deteriorating material conditions, should stay in the country contributing to its development. Cadet Corps Alumni are an example of a patriotic education model. Several years of learning in the military school shapes their beliefs and teaches them complete surrender to authority. Patriotism, combined with the sense of external threat, has become the driving force behind the reconstruction of the Russian superpower. One of the cornerstones of the school is the acceptance of Putin’s Russia by spreading the vision of becoming an international representative of the country. The increase in military spending and functioning of military schools such as the Corps of Cadets give rise to fears that in the future Russia the army will become one of the tools of the superpower on the arena of foreign policy.

Tematem artykułu jest druga polska emigracja w Wielkiej Brytanii i wychowanie narodowe młodego pokolenia: zapoznanie z polskimi tradycjami, polską historią i ideą niepodległości. Celem emigrantów było zorganizowanie polskich szkół, w których dzieci uczyłyby się polskiej kultury, języka i literatury. Idea napotykała jednak wiele trudności, np. łączenie nauki w szkole polskiej i szkole angielskiej, złe warunki lokalowe, brak polskich podręczników, wpływ języka angielskiego, wstyd swojego języka, brak motywacji. Dydaktycy dyskutowali o czasie rozpoczęcia nauki języka polskiego, celach i metodach nauczania, programie, o roli rodziców, formie egzaminu z języka polskiego.
The subject of the article is the second Polish emigration in Great Britain and the national upbringing of the young generation: familiarization with Polish traditions, Polish history and the idea of independence. The purpose of the emigrants was to organize Polish schools in which children would learn Polish culture, language and literature. However, the idea faced many difficulties, such as combining education in Polish and English schools, poor housing conditions, the lack of Polish textbooks, the influence of English, the shame of their language and lack of motivation. Didactics discussed about the time to start learning Polish, goals and methods of teaching, the program and the role of parents. The main goal of emigration education was to teach children respect for the Polish language and Polish culture. Difficulties have been overcome, as evidenced by contemporary Polonia, who educates children in Polish Saturday schools and PUNO, and constantly maintains a lively contact with the homeland.

The major goal of this paper is characterising German education in Legnica in relation to the education of this minority after WWII. Before the second half of the 1950s, Lower Silesia was home to the biggest German diaspora in Poland while Legnica was a significant location on the map of German settlement. In addition, it hosted one of the largest schools with German language; along with a similar institution in Wrocław, it was one of two oldest institutions of this type in Poland. The first part of this paper analyses the social and political situation of the German population in Poland after WWII. The second part describes the characteristics of the diaspora’s education, and the third part discusses the education of the German population in post-war Legnica.

The study demonstrates that the definition and meaning of education, and by extension of educational inequality, are embedded in countries’ historical, political and social environments, while also responding to exogenous changes and international trends. We comparatively discuss the experience of 4 countries (Norway, Finland, Lithuania and Hungary) in order to unpack the historical underpinnings of the way education is framed in policy documents. Building on that, we review the effects of neoliberal ideas with their universalist dogma that have affected policy making in all cases, and assess to what extent the meaning of education was decoupled from its historical framework. Our findings are relevant for understanding not only the process of policy change, but in particular how the meaning of concepts within educational policy change over time. We suggest that embedded concepts carry meaning that has evolved over time and became strongly entangled with the country’s history and culture, while prevailing ideologies (neoliberalism and in the case of Hungary that of neoconservatism) also generate considerable effects on education policies.

The author assumes that popular culture plays a powerful role in the process of socialization of young generation. The author tries to present that the conventional national symbols are being replaced by pop symbols and thus become the sources of national identity. The concepts of banal nationalism put forward by Michael Billig or Tim Enderson’s idea of everyday life’s practices in the development of national identity are being used. In the text, the phenomenon of James Bond is used to analyze the contemporary debates on British identity (Britishness). The author assumes that James Bond is a great example of Englishness that serves as a complex manifestation of a British hero which may, in turn, play a crucial role in political, civic, and patriotic education.

This study was to discuss and overview the infrastructure of digital citizenship in fostering the reinforcement of national identity in Indonesia. This study was prompted by a problem in the development of digital citizenship infrastructure, which could be an instrument in fostering national identity in Indonesia. The process of forming a national identity could be emphasized through various platforms in the digital citizenship infrastructure, so that the internalization of national values among Indonesian citizens could strengthen their identity as such. This study took the form of qualitative research with a phenomenological approach, constructing theories and phenomena concerning the infrastructure of digital citizenship in Indonesia. The results showed that the infrastructure of digital citizenship reinforced national identity in Indonesia in three ways, namely: 1) internalizing awareness of digital literacy through Citizenship Education learning, 2) implementing Habituation of national identity values in the digital citizenship infrastructure, and 3) running digital forums that could reinforce the digital citizenship infrastructure and strengthen national identity.

However, it is only the November Uprising which is generally associated with the revolt of the o cers from the O cer Cadets School [Szkoła Podchorazych] in Warsaw. A general theme of the text to discuss ideological mechanisms of non-representation of politicallylegitimized knowledge of underprivileged groups in the society, including women and religious orethnic minorities in school textbooks, particularly in the area of history. Analysis of dominant viewson the place of socially marginalized social groups in history textbook narratives and curricular objectivesseems to be more important than ever before. Relating to Michel Foucault’s concept of discoursesof truth, the aim of the text is to consider the dominant regime of truth in relation to national heroism, religion and a citizenship ideal. National heroism narratives in history textbooks are always placed isa broader context of building representations of a national identity and attempting to develop a unifiednotion of good citizenship. Both the nationhood and citizenship perspectives are sometimes symbolicallyrelated to the attempt of shaping emotional identification with a dominant religion.

Education in post-war Legnica (1945–1968) When the war activities came to a close, first Jews started to come into town, mainly the former prisoners from Gross-Rosen concentration camp, and then the displaced rescued in the territory of the Soviet Union. The newcomers soon opened their own educational facilities and in the school year 1946/1947 in Legnica there were: a kindergarten, a foster house, a heder, a primary school with Hebrew as the language of lecture, a kibbutz and a Hebrew primary school. The educational pluralism did not last long because from the school year 1950/1951 there remained just one state-controlled Jewish school (the other facilities had been closed). The kindergarten was the only exception and although it received the status of a public institution it preserved Jewish character until mid-50s. The subsequent years brought significant fluctuation of teachers and students as many of them left Poland in the first half of the 1950s, whereas from 1956 more newcomers arrived from the USSR. On September 1, 1959 a high-school class was launched in the local primary school. In the 1960s the emigration of Jews from Legnica increased significantly, which resulted in smaller number of students. A breakthrough year was 1968, when, because of too small number of children (38 in total), on August 31 the Jewish high-school and primary school ceased to exist

Educational and teacher training institutions for Jewish children and adolescents had a long and well-established tradition in Poland. Institutional forms of preschool education call for special attention, all the more so that the remaining national and ethnic minorities did not run their own kindergartens in Poland after WWII. In these circumstances, Jewish kindergartens were a striking exception. Ultimately, they suffered the same fate as the other educational and teacher training institutions managed by entities not welcomed by the Communist party and government in Poland, inspired by Marx’s and Lenin’s ideologies, whose guidelines from the communist headquarters in Moscow imposed a monopolistic vision of so-called socialist education and upbringing.
