Hutsuls, a man in a family, a traditional role of a man
Opis:
Hutsuls as one of the ethnic groups living in the Carpathian mountains have created peculiar culture, distinct from other mountain societies and original in many aspects. The relationships in the so-called typical families were also very characteristic. Dominant role was played by a man. The oldest man in a family was responsible for relationships and rights in the family and for upbringing of children. Men’s amoral behaviour, rooted in tradition, very often contributed to depravity and breakdown of marriages. Men often got married for fortune, were unfaithful to their wives and beat them. Such behaviour was treated in the Hutsul community as a husband’s privilege and duty. The role of a man in the Hutsul family was significant but in many cases negative.

Opis:
Józef Tischner’s Myślenie z wnętrza metafory [Thinking From Within the Metaphor] and Bartłomiej Maliszewski’s Metafora i aksjologia [Metaphor and Axiology] are texts that are both described (analysed) and interpreted here. However, the debatability of the dual understanding of metaphor (‘inside’ – ‘outside’) is only a preliminary difficulty. For it will be incomparably more important that when we read Thinking From Within the Metaphor, then we will not find an explanation of the authorial meaning attributed to the after all key term of his text, and this is by no means a coincidence. The fundamental opposition – unambiguous genre language versus axiological and agathological analogical (metaphorical, symbolic) language – is certainly a persuasive construction, but not necessarily a valid one. A fundamental literary problem: is the Platonic cave really a metaphor? In Bartłomiej Maliszewski’s book Metafora i aksjologia wzorzec człowieka w renesansowej literaturze parenetycznej [Metaphor and Axiology. The Model of Man in Renaissance Parenetic Literature], ‘metaphor’ is equated with the ‘figurative’. There would be nothing reprehensible in this if not for the fact that these two key terms in the book co-create a state of approximate numerical equilibrium, while (and this is more important) proving to be both identical and disjointed. The lack of a definition of ‘metaphor’ and ‘figurative’ makes the whole impressive argument resemble a colossus standing on two legs of clay, over which it stumbles as they become entangled. The legitimacy of the combined view of Thinking From Within the Metaphor and Metaphor and Axiology is contained primarily in the fact that Renaissance parenesis can be seen as one of the historical forms of agathology.

Opis:
Croatian Romanticism uses a multitude of Judeo-Christian motifs. Kranjčević’s Moses enters into a direct dialogue with God, who is not only a distant transcendental authority, but also a concrete being who responds to the people’s cries. When Moses indicates dissatisfaction with his people’s slavery, God reciprocates with both words and actions. The objective of this article is to look at thedialogues between man and God in the poem Moses in order to contribute to the research of the theme of communication between man and God in Croatian romantic poetry. The main subject of the poem is Moses, who is culturally more relevant for Judaism than for Christianity; his contribution in the Bible is connected to the struggle and active liberation from slavery. Unlike Christianity, Judaism affirms a revolutionary Messiah. In this poem, Moses is the prototype of a universal man in search of God, whereas communication is a prerequisite for solving individual and collective problems.

This article penetrates the idealistic, Marxist concept of the 'new  Soviet man', linking it with the notion of eugenics. Departing from a reconstruction of the history and specificity of the eugenic movement in Russia since the late 19th century until the installation of Joseph Stalin as the only ruler of the Soviet Union, Lysenkoism paradigm of Soviet natural sciences is being evoked as a theoretical frame for Soviet-specific eugenic programme. Through referring to a number of chosen – both theoretical (classic Marxist works) and practical (chosen aspects of Soviet science and internal politics) – issues and cases, the concept of the 'new Soviet man' is being confronted with an original reading of eugenics, understood in neo-Lamarckian terms of direct shaping human beings through environmental conditions (comprehending the GULag system of labour camps, pseudo-medical experiments and other) and intergenerational transfer (through inheritance) of acquired traits.

Opis:
Metoda obserwacji pomogła w usystematyzowaniu i ocenie zjawiska apostolskiego zaangażowania męża i ojca.
The article presents the essence of the issue of the apostolate of man in the family. Its foundations are theologically justifi ed in the mission of Christ and the content of the sacramental marriage vow. The author points to the forms of the apostolate and draws attention to the need for the formation of a man in the context of the so-called “male movement” in the Church and the phenomenon of “fatherlessness”. Therefore, explaining a new the meaning of the apostolate in the family and taking care of the contemporaryman, husband and father is extremely important from the point of view of pastoral theology and pastoral care. In the research on the issues of the man’s apostolate in the family, the method of analysis and interpretation of biblical texts, church documents, as well as theological and non-theological publications was used. The method of deduction was also used in relation to the issue raised. The method of observation helped to systematize and evaluate the phenomenon of apostolic engagement of husband and father.

Korsak’s works are a testimony of a “little man”, looking at reality through the prism of ordinary everyday affairs, instinctively trying to survive in the historical turmoil. This article is an attempt to show the specificity of this perspective on the basis of his novels.

The division of human life into ages is not only a sociological issue but also includes a philosophical, moral and religious reflection. The relationship between human life and the course of the year punctuated by the seasons and months has not remained without influence on the very notion of the ages of life. The question that arises is whether we can harmonize the unpredictable flow of human life with the calendar. The confrontation of two medieval works which develop this parallel: the treatise by Philippe de Novare Les Quatre âges de l’homme, and the anonymous poem Les Douze mois figurez, should provide an answer to this question.

The article is devoted to the study of the concept and image of the one-man (rus. mirovoj chelovek). Mikhail Mestetsky – a screenwriter, a director, a musician, the founder and frontman of the group Shklovsky. His work is permeated with anarchic and revolutionary motifs of destruction and provocation. However, along with the aesthetics of destruction, there is a tendency towards collective behavior, the essentialization of the collective. The group, the detachment, the team, the union, and the sect are the favorite categories of Mestetsky's poetics. The identification of „all as one” in the category of the one-man (Wardan Hayrapetyan), collective body occurs in the film Rag Union (2015). The main plot of Mestetsky is set against this background – the self-education of personality and the character formation.

The article In Defense of Human Identity: the Reality of Globalization as the Cause of Modernization of Modern Educational Systems is an attempt to reflect on the role of the educational process in the context of the value system offered in the modern world. It appears that authentic human participation in the reality of global and involuntary compliance with the directives of globalism is both a crisis of identity, of its existence, values, norms, and all human activities. Efforts taken to demonstrate the value of dogma, which carries with it an affirmation of the modern world, and conformist standards of conduct, is to notice the risk of objective truth about man and reality. Civilization implies in fact a kind of order to eradicate what is human. The human drama shows an almost total devotion to the values of functionalism and utility. Therefore, it is vital for modern education to return to the personal dimension of human existence. This accomplishment, a full range of education, which means clarifying the challenges confronting it, is only possible with recognizing and highlighting the personal status of the man based on the personalistic norm. This article helps the contemporary human being to realize the importance of learning to respect human dignity and to protect the identity of a mature man

Article is devoted to studying a concept of all-unity, all-man (rus. всеединство, всечеловек) in the story The Ship Forest (Korabel’naya Chashcha) of the Russian writer Mikhail Prishvin. The idea of all-unity, of unity common to all mankind, peculiar to the Russian thought, has found expression in a symbol All-man (Весь-человек). The image-symbol is considered through a number of collective forms and personalities, its language form, conceptual filling, development of an image in the case of diaries of Prishvin is investigated. The author focuses on the problem of sectarianism in the Russian culture and radicalization of collective life at the beginning of the 20th century in the Bolshevism. As a method hermeneutical developments of Vardan Hayrapetyan in the field of the Russian folklore are applied. The symbol of the All-man corresponds to a mytheme of a first-man and with hermeneum the man of the world (the world person), embodying the archaic idea of rescue.

Opis:
This paper describes the role and the place of the woman in African society, with particular focus on the issues of leadership, peace and security. Although women in Africa are more numerous than men, their position is not an enviable one. Thus this work will attempt to describe the causes which prevent the female kind from coming to the fore and being truly equal to men. In order to achieve that aim, one should consider the place of the woman, not only in the traditional society but also in what one sees as the contemporary realities of Africa. The author demonstrates that in most African countries, women had long been excluded from enjoying political rights, and that they have gained such entitlement only recently. Among the reasons which would account for this absence of women in the realm of leadership, one should draw attention to the patriarchal model of authority one acquires as a child and the burden of ancestral tradition which hinges upon the primacy of the male. There are also the additional burdens imposed over time by religions, which had always relegated the woman to the background. The woman has always been associated with the weaker sex, while being the one who gave life. The scope of this paper is limited to the presence of women in the public sphere, that is to say to their leadership in the affairs of peace and security, where women have or may have a certain influence. Certain difficulties encountered by African women with respect to leadership are also experienced by women in other parts of the world. With a few exceptions, all societies have been and continue to be governed by the same principles of exclusion. In Africa, just as everywhere else, there is no need for profound studies to conclude that feminist literature is not particularly abundant. This paper represents an exploration of a subject of no minor importance, namely the leadership of women in preventing and management of conflicts in Africa. Nevertheless, it is limited to a general view and does not analyse specific cases in each of the African countries.

Human sciences as a reflection of social transformations fluctuate with dynamic changes of current cognitive paradigms. Following the textual and visual turn and the turn towards things (objects), there are intensified tendencies to think in terms of an “animal turn”, which becomes close not only to activists and pro-animal activists but also to scientifically engaged humanists. I believe, however, that the animal turn should be treated as a meta-turn: a process that requires a change in the relationship between the reflecting subject and the object of reflection, and not only as a specific kind of representation of the surrounding world. In the proposed text, I attempt to analyze the causes of the turn towards animals. I also address the theme of cognitive resistance in view of the recognition of animal studies as a fully-fledged theoretical and research area of contemporary humanities.
