    This article is a case study of a question of possible doping and how our insights into our moral judgements about doping are subject to considerations of both moral, but more presciently, epistemic luck. The eternal ambiguity surrounding the prevalence of doping, and its impact on high-level sport make this question entirely relevant for our discussions about the ethics of performanceenhancement in sport.

    Opis:
    The article presents the issue of moral luck and some of its consequences for the philosophy of law, social justice, political responsibility and some religious concepts. Recognition of the role of moral luck undermines the use of the concept of moral responsibility, guilt and merit. The consequences of recognizing that this challenge is justifi ed, reach those areas. They postulate, for example, the need to compensate social or property inequalities, insofar as they depend on the luck. Similarly, in the Christian concept of salvation as dependent off the will of God and man, there is the problem of the impact of luck. Release from moral responsibility for actions under the infl uence of luck, also puts into question the responsibility of politicians, whose decisions are often made in the absence of certainty.

    The article presents views of selected philosophers, from antiquity and the Middle Ages, on luck and its role in morality. It shows that, for example, Plato did not consider moral luck. Aristotle did but without such concequences as Williams and Nagel did. Stoics also considered morality as independent from the fortune provided that the wise man is able to become independent from luck. In the ancient times, the role of luck or fate was undoubtedly perceived but not theorized. The luck was not the reason for the question of the meaning of moral responsibility.

    The author reflects on the risk of professional failure among students. He believes that in this case we have a vague definition of professional failure. He indicates both causes, those independent of humans and those related to their own actions or negligence. Then he refers to the category of occupation and its place in times of uncertainty. Pointing to the factors determining the perception of the risk of professional failure, he emphasizes the role of the University, which gives support to its students in the process of their professional risk assessment.

    The article discusses the problem of moral luck described by T. Nagel and B. Williams. It also presents the critique of N. Richards. In terms of Nagel moral luck causes a paradox: we judge morally random acts and break the principle of estimating only those acts which are under the con- trol of the perpetrator. Richards criticizes the sole use of the criterion of effects of the act, without intentions. This criticism is extended and includes the objection of too far-reaching generalization of the role of luck made by Nagel.

    The aim of the article is to show which meanings of the word ‘coincidence’ can be used in the problem of moral luck. The first part of the article briefly discusses the essence of the problem of moral luck, the types of this luck and the consequences of recognizing the role of luck for morality. The second presents definitions of coincidence. This part also presents the arguments which of the presented meanings of coincidence can be used in the analysis of the problem of moral luck. In conclusion, there is a suggestion to limit the meaning and role of the so-called  paradox of moral luck.
    Celem artykułu jest wykazanie, które znaczenia słowa ‘przypadek’ można zastosować w kwestii trafu moralnego. W pierwszej części artykułu pokrótce omówiono istotę problemu trafu moralnego, rodzaje tego trafu oraz konsekwencje uznania roli trafu/przypadku dla moralności. Druga część zawiera definicje przypadku. W tej części zaprezentowano również argumenty za tym, które z przedstawionych znaczeń przypadku można wykorzystać w analizie zagadnienia trafu moralnego. W zakończeniu artykułu pojawia się sugestia ograniczenia znaczenia i roli tzw. paradoksu trafu moralnego.

    Artykuł prezentuje propozycję rozwiązania problemu trafu moralnego, w kontekście zasady kontroli. Zasada ta mówi, że warunkiem przypisania odpowiedzialności, winy/zasługi moralnej jest posiadanie kontroli nad działaniem przez sprawcę. Traf moralny powoduje zdaniem jego zwolenników, że ocenie moralnej podlega działanie podmiotu, które było zakłócone przez przypadek, czy czynnik będący poza kontrolą podmiotu. W artykule próbuje się wykazać, że nie można mówić o całkowitym braku kontroli w działaniach,  na które wpływa przypadek. Stąd nie można wysuwać tak dalekich konsekwencji oddziaływania trafu na moralność jak negacja sensowności przypisywania odpowiedzialności moralnej i winy/zasługi w ogóle.  W to miejsce proponuje się w artykule oddzielnie przypisywania odpowiedzialności moralnej od winy/zasługi, w zależności od intencji podmiotu działającego.
    The article presents a proposal of solution of the problem of moral luck in the context of the principle of control. This principle states that the condition for assigning responsibility, moral guilt / merit is to have control over the action by the perpetrator. According to his supporters, a moral hit causes the moral evaluation of a subject's action that was disturbed by chance or a factor beyond the subject's control. The article tries to show that there is no complete lack of control in the actions that are affected by chance. Hence, one cannot put forward such distant consequences of the impact of luck on morality as the negation of the rationality of assigning moral responsibility and blame / merit in general. Instead, the article proposes to assign moral responsibility separately from guilt / merit, depending on the intention of the acting subject.
