    Currently we are witnessing migration, which for different reasons exhibits a growth tendency. It does not just concern big cities, but also smaller towns, where we can encounter people with different cultural backgrounds, religion, dialect, and values. Multicultural education comes out to meet the expectations of the minorities and its main purpose is to create a platform for dialog and communication, as well as the composition of educational programs and multicultural upbringing. The article explains the situation of refugees, with emphasis on the education and upbringing of children. It provided examples of multicultural education implemented in a small elementary school from a County of Bielsk.

    The article critically engages in teaching intercultural education in Poland—a country that is to a great extent homogenous in ethnic or religious terms. It starts with a brief overview of the complicated nature of intercultural education, followed by a case study of how intercultural education is studied and researched in Poland in a top academic journal dedicated to intercultural education. Quantitative content analysis shows that intercultural education is generally approached and unrelated to the local Polish context. The only exception is the borderland type of intercultural education. This leads to a conclusion that teaching intercultural education without a context—i.e. real-life experiences—proves to be a challenge in monocultural schools.

    In most societies disabled people are subject to taboo, in terms of laughing at their weaknesses, failures, inadequacies and differnt situations connected with their disability. However, they are becoming a more frequent ligtsome topic of different forms in mass culture (from television to the Internet) – interesting especially when they laugh at themselves. The article deals with the situations of laughing at Other in this context together with the examples of films, shows and educational projects.

    Celem artykułu jest ukazanie wartości pracy w grupach wielokulturowych dla tworzenia zróżnicowanego i korzystnego wychowawczo środowiska edukacyjnego. Współczesna sytuacja migracyjna stanowi wyzwanie dla polskiej szkoły z reguły monokulturowej. Najważniejsze obecnie jest wyposażenie nauczycieli w umiejętności, które pozwolą im rozpoznać i kształtować własne postawy wobec zróżnicowania kulturowego oraz wykorzystać wychowawczo i dydaktycznie pracę w wielokulturowych zespołach. Podstawę mogą stanowić praktyki edukacyjne stosowane w klasach, w których uczą się dzieci romskie. Zdobyte doświadczenia mogą posłużyć do modyfikowania programów studiów nauczycielskich i tworzenia modeli pracy w wielokulturowym środowisku.
    The aim of the article is to show the value of work in multicultural groups to create a diverse and beneficial educational learning environment. The contemporary situation of migration is a challenge for Polish, usually monocultural schools. The most important task is now to equip teachers with the skills that will enable them to recognize and develop their own strategies towards cultural diversity and take advantage of educational and didactic work in multicultural teams. The basis for these actions may be educational practices in classes attended by Roma children. The experience gained during these practices can be used to modify university teacher training and to model work in a multicultural environment.

    Opis:
    The study approaches the new curriculum documents for pre-university education in the Republic of Moldova from the intercultural education perspective. In the 2019-2020 school year, the schools in the country are carrying out the education process based on a new curriculum, which represents the result of the third reform after the country's independence in 1992. The author analyses the correspondence of the curriculum texts to the stipulations of the Education Code, and the extent to which they respond to the demands in the development of the students’ intercultural competence. The findings of the study reveal that the texts are focused not only on the promotion of the national values and identity, but are open, at the same time, to the intercultural education and to the dialogue with representatives of different cultures in the multicultural divided society. Literature and policy review supplemented by discourse analysis are the main qualitative methods applied.

    Artykuł stanowi analizę książki Agnieszki Suchowierskiej pt. Ada Judytka i zaginiony tałes oraz próbę określenia jej potencjału dydaktycznego. Omawiana pozycja jest opowieścią o Adzie Judytce, która zamieszkuje Białystok i z dziecięcą ciekawością odkrywa jego wielokulturowość. Główna bohaterka jest pół-Polką, pół-Żydówką, a przewodnikami po innych kulturach i religiach stają się jej rówieśnicy. Autorka omawia sposób narracji oraz konstrukcje poszczególnych bohaterów. Namysł nad tą lekturą staje się pretekstem do poddania propozycji działań dydaktycznych i opisania sytuacji lekcyjnych, w których książka Suchowierskiej stała się pomocą dla nauczyciela i ucznia.
    The article is an attempt to analyze Agnieszka Suchowierska’s book Ada Judytka and the lost tallis as well as to determine its didactic potential. The book presents a story of Ada Judytka, who lives in Białystok and with natural curiosity discovers its multiculturalism. Ada is half-Polish and half – Jewish by origin and her peers become guides to other cultures and religions. The issues of narrative and the construction of individual heroes are discussed in the article. Suchowierska’s book enhances the quality of potential lessons scenarios by offering help to both students and teachers in understanding the problem of multiculturalism.

    Intercultural education is one of the most important goals of contemporary foreign language teaching. In order to keep pupils strongly motivated to learn foreign languages, they must be made to understand what benefits can be gained from a good command of foreign languages. It is due to international pupil exchanges that young people have the opportunity to come into direct contact with a foreign language, to experience foreign culture in real communicative situations, and in the process verify or overcome deeply rooted stereotypes and prejudices about certain nations. In the article, the author presents quantitative questionnaire results, which allows him to identify the heterostereotypes of Polish and German pupils as well as their attitude towards historical events and current bilateral relations. Additionally, the impact of pupil exchanges on how representatives of both nations see each other and on their further contacts has been discussed. The results obtained can serve not only as guidelines on how to work with stereotypes and prejudices in foreign language classes, but they might also help in effective preparation for the scheduled pupil exchange.

    This article is an attempt to present the good practices of intercultural education. By the introducing into the main problems, the author presents the education rules of foreigners in the Polish education system, indicating the most important aspects of Polish law regulations. The crucial question raised in the text is the role of the school in the intercultural education and shaping of intercultural competence in education among pupils by the teacher. At this point, the author attempts to answer the question whether and how Polish schools and teachers are prepared to accept foreign children? In the second part of the text, they presented good practices of intercultural education as an example the Social Secondary School No. 20 “Raszyńska” in Warsaw.

    The specific situation of a German academic working outside of Germany emerges via the differential and non-simultaneous absorption (or incorporation) of methodological schools and traditions. This article shows a possible means of executing the balancing act between the learned "third culture" and your own tradition. It is about the interfaces between experience and expectation which one can find them through understanding the narrative structures. One can glean profound understanding via: narrative structure, deep structure of the text, on the basis of stories and cultural tropes, and through to structured narrative itself and to the story than the way the literature appropriation in the foreign language specific perspective. We only know as much as we are able to express. The language cultural identity exists because of the language and it is equal as narrative identity.

    The authors of the article evaluate social-communicative problems of the minority group of Roma Gypsies in Poland. The existing low linguistic competence is additionally constrained by the accompanying insufficient communicative competence. The authors emphasize that teaching of a foreign language, in this particular case of the dominant language in the country, is effective only when it is simultaneously enhanced by a corresponding interaction between the two cultures in question. The authors indicate the barriers to cultural integration that hamper the community’s capacity and capability of establishing the relationships between these communities that would be based on partnership and mutual respect: these barriers include the orality and the tabooisation of Romany culture as well as its unfamiliarity to the Poles. This, in turn, generates patterns for statements and utterances in which ceremonial patterns are of secondary importance. It is rather the pragmatic factor that governs a particular linguistic behaviour: the Romany people simply want to understand the message and want to be understood. The article stresses that the present unfortunate social communication can be changed in the future by the implementation of appropriate activities within educational strategies directed towards the target group.
