Opis:
Hitherto unknown sources concerning the trial against Stanisław Konarski in the Holy Office, allow to describe more accurately the dispute between nuncio Angelo Maria Durini and the Piarists of the Polish Province. One of such sources is a letter written by Andrzej Stanisław Kostka Młodziejowski, bishop of Poznań, in defense of the Piarists. The article analyzes its contents, confronting it with the archival documentation of the Warsaw Nuntiature. While defending the Polish religious, the bishop of Poznań emphasized their orthodoxy, the special merits of S. Konarski, as well as the falsity of the slander directed at them by one of the insubordinate religious. He drew attention to the fact that Warsaw belongs to his ecclesiastical jurisdiction and that, in the first place, he himself supervises the discipline of clergy. Perhaps this intervention was not of key importance for the defense of the Piarists against the allegations of the nuncio, however the Holy See, following its own procedures, has eventually lifted the allegations against the Piarists.

Opis:
August Hlond served for over ten years (1926-1939) as the archbishop of Gniezno and Poznań during the pontificate of Pius XI and on three occasions addressed questions to the Apostolic See which were considered by the Congregation of the Holy Office. Only one of those questions was directly related to the archdioceses governed by him. The remaining ones were taken up by the Consultor of the Holy Office in a printed report and distributed to the members of the Congregation to acquaint them with the issues to be considered. Their analysis seems to be interesting from the perspective of relations between the Apostolic See and the episcopate of Poland because Hlond did not hesitate to bluntly voice his concerns about the threat of a collapse of Catholicism in Poland within a few decades. The issues tackled by the Holy Office are indirect evidence of the recognition the Apostolic See showed to the significant role of the Primate in the Polish Church. Cardinal Hlond's question on vows of obedience received from penitents by some confessors met with a decisive reaction of the Holy See and it was the Primate of Poland who was appointed to resolve the problem. The other two questions concerned doubts as to the participation of Catholics in acatholic ceremonies and the possibility of selling prohibited books by the St. Adalbert Bookstore in Poznań.

Opis:
According to the bible tradition, the name of a person determine its personality and dignity. Since the 18th century there is known commemoration of the most sacred name of Jesus in the liturgy of Roman Church. The essence of this devotion contains the liturgical texts assigned for that day. Especially many texts of the pre-Vatican liturgy point out the great importance of that day. After the Second Vatican Council the commemoration was removed from the liturgical agenda, but anew established in 2002. Analysis of the texts contained in missal and breviary show theological contain of that feast day. The base are words about the humiliation and glorification of the Servant of Yahwe derived from the second chapter of the Letter of Saint Paul to Philippians (Phil. 2:6–11) and from the Acts of Apostles. In that book it is said that the name of Jesus is the only one by which we can be saved (Acts 4:8–12). Liturgical texts from the Old Testament indicate the fulfilment of the prophecy in the name of Jesus. Different motivation of praising the name of Jesus is shown in the literature of Christian writers who demonstrate the beauty and sweetness of the name of Jesus. Before The Second Vatican Council, in the sermons of St. Bernard it is highlighted that this name is innate, not given. Saint Bernard from Siena said in his sermons that the name of Jesus is the name of His mercy. This text is the base of the Office of readings after the Second Vatican Council. Nowadays this feast is celebrated on 3rd January and links the mystery of the nativity and of the revelation of the Lord, pointing out the unity in the celebration of the mystery of Incarnation.
