The article outlines the main directions of the evangelization of the Church Fathers in the 5th and 6th centuries and the numerous obstacles which they encountered in their pastoral ministry. The spreading of pagan practices, magic and all kinds of superstitions were still visible even among the baptized people. Another problem they had to face, no less difficult to overcome, was a moral dissolution, as well as rampant alcoholism. Hence their sermons so often featured merciful God, ready to forgive every person. They also pointed some ways to deepen one’s faith. Thus they tried to form a Christian society, guided by the spirit of the Gospel in every sphere of life.

The proposed topic allows to learn about the scientific activity of the Wielkopolska researchers of the early Christian Church: Jan Sajdak (1882–1967), priest Józef Nowacki (1893–1964), priest Bronisaw Gadysz (1892–1943) and priest Ludwik Gadyszewski (1932–2009). They contributed to the development of patristics not only in Wielkopolska, but also in Poland and in the world. Wielkopolska is also associated with the Scriptures of the Fathers of the Church in which translations of writers of the first centuries of Christianity are published. Patrology textbooks have also been published. The most important of them was written by the priest Szczepan Piestoch and is intended especially for students of theology. Wielkopolska is also a Faculty of Theology which has been operating since 1998 at the University of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. It includes the Department of Patristic Theology and currently the Department of Patristic Theology and Church History. Under the supervision of the faculty lecturers doctoral theses, master’s and bachelor’s the- ses, as well as monographs related to the period of Christian antiquity are prepared.

W artykule przedstawiono zarys nauczania ojców Kościoła na temat małżeństwa i rodziny. Starożytni duszpasterze, chociaż bardziej cenili życie w dziewictwie, to jednak w związku mężczyzny i kobiety widzieli również wypełnienie woli Bożej. Podstawowym celem zawarcia związku małżeńskiego było zrodzenie i wychowanie potomstwa. Ojcowie zwracali uwagę, że ważnym elementem wychowania była ochrona dzieci przed złym wpływem środowiska oraz dobry przykład rodziców i wychowawców. Należy podkreślić, że zarówno duszpasterze, jak i prawo Kościoła starożytnego, zdecydowanie potępiały zabijanie dzieci nienarodzonych.
The article outlines the teaching of the Church fathers on marriage and family. Although ancient priests valued life in virginity more, they also saw the fulfillment of God's will in the relationship of a man and a woman. The primary purpose of marriage was the procreation and education of offspring. The Church fathers pointed out that an important part of education was to protect children from the bad influence of the environment and to give them a good examples of parents and educators. It should be emphasized that both the priests and the law of the early Church strongly condemned killing of unborn children.

The Aqedah story is a crown jewel of the biblical literature. Highlighting genuine emotions and important theological and ethical problems, it holds ground in all monotheistic religions. It brings about several questions concerning the mutual relationship between man and God, and man’s relationship with his son, wife and surroundings. Rabbinic literature provides plurality of perspectives on the Aqedah. It fills in gaps of the narrative and suggests directions o f interpretation that reflects in Josephus and perhaps in the Qumranic literature. Some interpretations are rooted in Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha literature, and many continue in the medieval Jewish interpretation. Usually the rabbis see God’s request as a test of Abraham’s unconditional belief. Some view the text as Abraham mistaking God’s intent. Others are justifying the placement of God and blaming Satan and Abraham. Several rabbis considered the Aqedah as an act of Kiddush Hashem (martyrdom). Abraham is viewed as one who is truly motivated by his religious belief over moral command, and his immediate acceptance of the command was praised. Many consider the Aqedah also as Isaac’s test. There are several approaches regarding what truly happened on the mount. However, Isaac’s blood cannot be viewed as a counterblast to Jesus’ blood. Sarah’s death was related with the Aqedah. Abraham’s act is considered to be an enduring eminence of Israel.

Każda ekranizacja, adaptacja filmowa lub wystawienie na scenie zawiera w sobie elementy interpretacji dzieła literackiego i determinuje określony sposób jego odczytania. Artykuł prezentuje to na przykładzie ekranizacji i adaptacji Hamleta Szekspira. W tekście przywołano dzieła filmowe takich twórców jak Laurence Olivier, Alan Dent, Akira Kurosawa, John Gielgud, Bill Colleran, Grigori Kozincew i Franco Zeffirelli. Ze szczególną uwagą omówiona została postać ojca Hamleta, różnorodnie przedstawiania w kolejnych ekranizacjach szekspirowskiego dramatu.
Every adaptation for the screen, film adaptation or a play put on stage includes the elements of interpretation of a literary work and determines the particular way it is interpreted. To illustrate this notion, the article introduces film adaptations of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Big-screen versions of Hamlet directed by Laurence Olivier, Alan Dent, Akira Kurosawa, John Gielgud, Bill Colleran, Grigori Kozincew and Franco Zeffirelli are referred to in the text. Particular attention is given to the character analysis of Hamlet’s father’s ghost, variously depicted in the following film adaptations of the Shakespearean drama.

The aim of the presented analysis is to show the exponents of excitement in the online genre – father’s blogs. Men’s parenting blogs reflect changes in the field of parenting, where father begins to appear – as an active and participating. This role goes beyond the stereotype of the male and the previous experience of fathers – both media and private. Therefore, the paternal narrative in blogs is for linguists valuable research material, that shows, among others, different aspects of male emotionality and ways to verbalize it. The emotional component of father`s image is created by means expressing feelings (not naming them), polyfunctional, used in unusual combinations and contexts.

It was always important for the Church, that a communication between the preacher and the listener was the best; the former must be understood in such a way that the latter is moved by the words of the Gospel. Before the arrival of Europeans in Central Africa (in late nineteenth century), the Bemba people did not know any written form, and their language only had a spoken form. It was with the arrival of Europeans on the Bemba lands that the era of learning, writing, studying and classifying the language of this ethnic group began. The first Europeans to reach the Bemba area were the missionaries, the White Fathers, and it was they who, after beginning their missionary activity, began to study the Bemba language. This article presents the achievements of the White Fathers in this field and tries to explain how the process of learning the Bemba language by the White Fathers was carried out.

Opis:
The article describes the basic types of pictorial representations of the Holy Trinity. The Old Testament prefiguration of the Trinity that became a type scene is the so-called „Hospitality of Abraham”. This is the variant of the „Trinity” used by Andrew Rublev. The „New Testament Trinity” represents such topics as „Fatherhood” and the „Common Throne”. The revelation of the Trinity as a whole is also evident in icons depicting scenes from Christ’s life, such as the icons of the Nativity, Baptism, Transfiguration on Mount Tabor, where each of the divine persons is manifested in a different way. God the Father is revealed as the sphere of heaven located in the upper part of the image, the Son of God is manifested in human flesh, and the Holy Spirit is depicted in the form of a dove, or a radiant cloud (mandorla). Numerous compositions also make use of the symbol of a triple beam, which stresses the Trinitarian nature of the depicted scene. The formation of epiphanic representations of the Trinity was influenced not only by the realities revealed in the text of the Scripture, but also by the tenets laid down at the Councils of Nicaea in 325 and Constantinople in 381. Trinitarian terminology was also developed by Eastern and Western theologians such as Basil the Great, Greogory of Nazianus, Hilary of Poitiers, Ambrose of Milan, Augustine of Hippo.

The article points to a relationship between Mikołaj Mieleszko’s Nabożne westchnienia and meditations, and shows the meditative character of the baroque emblematic works. It also presents the division of the work into three books introduced by Mieleszko, which can be referred to the model of a three-stage mystical way to God (via purgativa, via illuminativa, via unitiva), used by St. Ignatius of Loyola (but knowing by Pseudo-Dionysius The Areopagite and fully expressed by St. Bonaventure). Moreover, it discusses the participation of human faculties in the emblems: memory, intellect, will, imagination, and feelings, which are so important for the act of meditation. Above all, emphasis is put on the goal of the reflections presented by Mieleszko in the subscriptio; they were supposed to touch the soul and convince one to a spiritual transformation. They were, therefore, just like meditations, a way of achieving inner growth.

Participating in childbirth of his own child can be a plane for redefi ning man’s own identity and self-esteem. The study aimed to verify whether there is a relationship between the place of childbirth and selected aspects of man’s perceiving and experiencing participation in childbirth of his own child and to assess the relationship between man’s perception of childbirth as an essential life experience and an experience affecting selfesteem. The study included 147 men aged 18 to 57 years (M = 34,56; SD = 8,29) who had experience of participating in the delivery of their child. The conducted research was preliminary. The research was carried out using the diagnostics survey method and nonprobabilistic sampling. The data were collected anonymously via the survey questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics methods, with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Mann-Whitney U tests and the analysis of Spearman’s ρ rank correlation, with the IBM SPSS Statistics 23 package. The threshold of α = 0.05 was considered as the signifi cance level. Main results: (a) According to the respondents, man’s participation in birth of his own child is an important factor infl uencing self-esteem; (b) the stronger perception of childbirth as an important event in life, the more this  experience affects selfesteem according to the respondents. The research shows the importance of the father participation in the childbirth for the self-esteem level of the man. The preliminary study indicates also the need for in-depth  research on the participation of the father at childbirth and on the multifaceted importance of this presence.
Uczestniczenie w porodzie swojego dziecka może być dla mężczyzny płaszczyzną redefiniowania własnej tożsamości oraz kształtowania poczucia własnej wartości i samooceny. Celem badania była ocena czy istnieje zależność między miejscem porodu a wybranymi aspektami postrzegania i przeżywania przez mężczyzn uczestnictwa w porodzie swojego dziecka oraz ocena zależności między postrzeganiem przez mężczyzn porodu jako istotnego doświadczenia życiowego i doświadczenia wpływającego na samoocenę. W badaniu wzięło udział 147 mężczyzn w wieku od 18 do 57 lat (M = 34,56; SD = 8,29), którzy mieli doświadczenie uczestniczenia w porodzie swojego dziecka. Przeprowadzone badania miały charakter wstępny. Badania przeprowadzono metodą sondażu diagnostycznego; dobór próby nieprobabilistyczny. Badanie było anonimowe. Zastosowano autorski kwestionariusz. Zgromadzone dane przeanalizowano metodami statystyki opisowej z wykorzystaniem testów: Kołmogorowa-Smirnowa, U Manna-Whitney’a oraz analizy korelacji rangowej ρ Spearmana przy użyciu pakietu IBM SPSS Statistics 23. Za poziom istotności uznano próg α = 0,05. Główne wyniki (a) Towarzyszenie przy porodzie swojego dziecka jest istotnym czynnikiem wpływającym w opinii respondentów na samoocenę; (b) im silniejsze jest postrzeganie przez mężczyznę porodu swego dziecka jako ważnego wydarzenia w życiu, tym silniej w opinii respondentów, wydarzenie to wpływa na samoocenę. Przeprowadzone badania wykazują, że uczestniczenie przez mężczyznę wporodzie swego dziecka ma znaczenie dla jego samooceny. Zrealizowane badania, mające charakter wstępny, wskazują na potrzebę pogłębionych badań dotyczących obecności ojca przy porodzie dziecka oraz badań dotyczących wielopłaszczyznowego znaczenia tej obecności.

W artykule autor podejmuje kwesti związku między bioetyką i teologią. Pokazuje, jak prawdy teologiczne i dogmatyczne mogą stanowić podstawę refleksji i orzeczeń w sprawach bioetycznych. Ukazane zostłay kwestię problemów bioetycznych w Biblii, przedstawiając niektóre fragmenty Starego i Nowego Testamentu, gdzie można znaleźć nawiązania do ludzkiego życia i śmierci (np Wj 21: 12-32; Job 10: 8- 12, Psalmy, Listy Pawła). Autor postuluje konieczność właściwej egzegezy tekstów biblijnych i ich dokładnej analizy z językowego punktu widzenia. Następnie pokazuje wkład Ojców Kościoła w kwestii rozwiązywania niektórych problemów bioetycznych, podkreślając znakomite refleksy Tertuliana w tej sprawie w swoich traktatach "Apologetic" oraz "O duszy". Następny odnosi się do dogmatycznych prawd, w szczególności takich jak: wiecznego aktu stworzenia Syna przez Ojca i wcielenia Syna Bożego.
The paper takes up the issue of the connection between bioethics and theology. It shows how theological and dogmatic truths constitute the basis of reflection and decisions in bioethical cases. To begin with it brings up the issue of the bioethical problems in the Bible, presenting some excerpts of the Old and New Testament where we can find the reflection on human life and death (e.g. Ex 21: 12-32; Job 10: 8-12, Psalms, The Letters of St. Paul). The author postulates the necessity of an appropriate exegesis of biblical texts and their precise analysis from the linguistic point of view. Next he shows the contribution of the Fathers of the Church to resolving some bioethical issues, underlining Tertullian's outstanding reflections in the matter in his treaties „Apologetic" and „On the soul". Next he refers to dogmatic truths, particularly such as: the eternal act of generatio of the Son by the Father and incarnation of the Son of God. Then he reflects on the intuition of faith, using an example of the artificial womb to portray how that intuition supports the ethical analyses of the latest ethical problems in biomedicine. In the end he relates his considerations to the authority of the magisterium of the Church.
