    The autofictional novel La hija extranjera (2015), by the Catalan-Moroccan author Najat El Hachmi, is linked to the figure of exclusion and to what, in particular, Hannah Arent called “modern pariah”. Her literary writing vindicates a border thinking and the vision of a fragmentary, multiple and plural migrant female subject –contrary to the unitary male hegemonic subject – that shows, in Jacques Rancière’s terms, the close relationship that literature maintains with politics.

    Opis:
    The aim of this paper is to prove the underlying relation between laugh and the ideological criticism in the novel "Figuraciones en el mes de marzo" by a Puerto Rican writer, Emilio Díaz Valcárcel. The author explains the way of understanding the key words of laugh and ideological criticism. The attention of a leader should be attracted to three lines in the analysis of the novel of question. With these three aspects together, in the ideological project of the novel is given the deeply innovatory significance for a literary, of the necessity of the national liberation for shaping the common collective destiny in the specific case of Puerto Rico. Discussing two of them - 1) the particularly humoristic-satirical tone which fluctuates between the subtle irony and the effect of laugh, 2) the "collage" organization of the novel, the author comes to the third - showing, the high ideological commitment of the writer with the process of independence of Puerto Rico within the space of the beginning of the seventies, he draws his final conclusions about the profound democratic and critical meaning of humour and laugh as the source of the symbolic liberation.

    The purpose of the article is to reflect upon the role of political context in the short story collection published by Alejandro Cuevas in 2018: Mariluz y el largo etcétera. The politics is defined here according to one of the most commented theory of the aesthetics by Jacques Rancière and his concept of the “sensible”. It also focuses on the impact of the democratization of the subject-matter presented in the literary works of art since 19th century. Rancière’s approach together with considerations by Gonzalo Navajas, Vicente Luis Mora and others on the specificity of Spanish contemporary narrative reveal the intensity of the collective anxiety and problematical aspects of socio-economic reality that permeate the short stories by Cuevas, letting the reader notice in them glimpses of the series of issues regarding the Bubble Generation, sometimes also referred to as the Millennials or the 15-M Movement and other groups forming Spanish contemporary society. Cuevas manages to build in the political context without afflicting neither the humour nor the engaging expressiveness of his literary style.

    The objective of this article consists in analysing how and to what extent “the psychic life of power” (Butler, 2001) and the “synchronicity of the non-synchronic” (Cros, 2002) organise discourse practices of the hybrid identity (Sabaté, 2014) encoded in Najat El Hachmi’s La hija extranjera (2015), a novel written from a marked transcultural and feminist perspective. The protagonist and narrator in first person, a young Catalan woman of Moroccan origin (“the foreign daughter” of the title), is torn between contradictory ideologies, hopes and desires. She is suspended between the Spanish and the Moroccan cultures, between submission and rebellion. Likewise, we will see how the narrator reveals the great political potential of literature that lies in “resignification” (Butler, 2002).

    During the reign of the Amarna spouses, giving gold necklaces to royal officials took place (almost always) from the so-called Window of Appearance. From them, Akhenaten and Nefertiti, often with princesses, honoured deserved and devoted dignitaries. The popularity of the Window of Appearance closely relates to the introduction of a new religious system introduced by Akhenaten and Nefertiti. According to the new religion, Akhenaten and Nefertiti were a pair of divine twins like Shu and Tefnut, who in the Heliopolitan theology, were the children of the god Atum – replaced by Aten in Amarna. The royal couple prayed to the main solar god, while their subjects prayed to the king and queen. Since Akhenaten performed the role of a priest through whom ordinary people could pray to the god, it was necessary to createa construction that would allow the king to meet with his subjects publicly. The Window of Appearance was such architectural innovation. It was crucial because the king was an intermediator between the people and the only right sun god, Aten. The Windows of Appearance were probably located in various places in Akhetaten, including the Great Palace, the King’s House, the North Palace, the Small Aten Temple and in the temples of the Sunshades of Re in the Kom el-Nana and Maru-Aten. The characteristic shape of the Window of Appearance often appears in the architecture and the art of the Amarna Period. The structure resembles the Axt hieroglyph, which is the morning sun rising between two hills. This symbol is a part of the name of the new capital Axt-itn – The Horizon of Aten.

    The widely adopted title of “Ecstasy of St Francis”, a painting at the Diocesan Museum in Siedlce, was introduced in literature in 1966 based on the typology developed by José Gudiol. The designa- tion continues to be used until today. However, the significance and the purport of the title has not been confronted with the representation, especially given the current knowledge about its details. No attention has been paid so far to the nature of the stigmata, nor have any conclusions been drawn from the arrangement of the fingers or the depiction of bone remains, their pattern and placement. An analysis of those motifs changes the previous interpretation of what the work seeks to convey. The paper also cites arguments in favour of amending the current dating, from 1578-80 to the early seventeenth century.
