    Opis:
    The article discusses the linguistic image of war as an element of the linguistic worldview, based onstatements made by students of years 4-7. The author follows Jerzy Bartmiński’s assumption that a linguisticworldview is a linguistic interpretation of reality, which can be defined as a set of judgements about the world. These judgements may be fixed in the language itself, in its grammatical forms, lexicon, clichéd texts (e.g. proverbs), or as implied linguistic forms and texts. Language is a means of interpreting the world and the words used not so much to “render a photographic reproduction of things” as to “portray” them mentally. The author, inspired by Franciszek Hinczer’s research on war conducted in 1919 among students aged 8-14, asked students of two primary schools (302 people in total) about their opinions on the same topic. The students taking part in the research, conducted a hundred years after the study was published in the Szkoła Powszechna journal, answered the following questions: What do they think a war is? What do people do during a war? What do adults do during a war and what do children do? The students’ statements were analyzed and categorized. Each selected category was illustrated with sample answers from the respondents. The presentation of the results was preceded by an analysis of the notion and image of war in selected dictionaries of the Polish language.

    The article discusses searching for solutions related to the university education of preschool and early school teachers in a time marked by intense and unpredictable changes. The fluid reality we live in poses an important challenge for those responsible for teacher training, requiring them to prepare teachers to deal with constant changes and remain open to what is yet to come. In a constantly changing reality, it is difficult to predict which competencies teachers will need in the next decades of the 21st century. It is certainly worth the effort to focus on fostering the passion and developing the personalities of future teachers working with children of preschool and early school age. The education process should also take into account the needs and expectations of the new generation of teachers, representing what the literature of the subject describes as “generation Z”. Apart from including theoretical considerations, the article is an attempt to showcase selected solutions developed at the Faculty of Educational Studies of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan.

    The article points to the features of classroom communication which hinder the development of students’ communicative competences. The author describes the paradoxes of classroom communication re ected in the fact that the teachers enjoy signi cantly more rights and privileges than the students with regard to both the form and the content of the messages they express, as well as the paradoxes stemming from the arti cial, formalized language present in the classroom, which actually hinders the development of communicative skills.

    The article attempts to search for continuity between the past and the present inscribed in the language, using selected idioms as examples. The author presents idioms as a linguistic “transmitter” of culture reflecting the experiences of its users. The paper concludes with a few reflections on the role of language education and creating the linguistic awareness of the young generation. The author highlights the need to combine the knowledge of the history of traditional idioms and the knowledge of using new idioms created for advertising and media purposes to shape the attitudes and language activity of young people.

    The article tackles the issue of communication in school environment. The first part discusses communication as a dialogue between its participants, who shape its course together, taking turns and forming adjacency pairs. The author moves on to focus on the distinctive features of teacher-student communication. She lists and analyses its following traits: lack of students’ opportunity to contribute to the creation of the dialogue, a high level of formality, asymmetry of rights and privileges available to the participants of the communication process, prevalence of a monologue of meanings over a dialogue and negotiation of meanings. The article concludes with proposals for educational practice.

    The article tackles the issue of the contemporary childhood. The author notes that in search of a happy childhood, the essence of childhood is often lost. Instead of a genuinely careless and happy childhood, the reality created for today’s children is full of appearances. In her discussion of the subject, the author refers to a selected approach to happiness. She also identifies, based on Janusz Czapiński’s proposal, the difference between happiness and feeling happy. She points to the fact that 21st-century life is an endless chase after the future, lacking the opportunity to focus on here and now. Childhood too is treated as a race towards adulthood. In the course of her argument, the author identifies and describes selected styles of creating a happy childhood: an abundant childhood, an active childhood, a childhood in the limelight, a boundless childhood, a childhood among people. Concluding her argument, the author proposes that instead of chasing happiness and creating the appearances of a happy childhood for children, it might be better to simply slow down the pace of life when possible and value the present. After all, “sharing the joy of life is the essence of a satisfying child-parent relationship”. The author also discusses the role of the teacher as a person supporting the parents in their parenting roles.
