Constantly emerging, new theories of professional development provide a new perspective on this issue. A plethora of contemporary transformations obliges an individual to take responsibility for his or her own professional biography. If every person carries out a career, regardless of its quality, and if that career lasts for the person’s whole lifetime, both throughout the period of professional activity and the time of preparation preceding it, one can presume that the choice of career requires reflection and in-depth conceptual considerations, which proves its significance for the subject.

Artykuł dotyczy znaczenia klauzuli „wypadku mniejszej wagi” w polskim prawie karnym. Obecna regulacja tej instytucji budzi wiele wątpliwości, które mają niebagatelne znaczenie dla praktyki prawa karnego. Część przedstawicieli doktryny traktuje ją jak dyrektywę wymiaru kary, a część jak odrębny sposób tworzenia typu uprzywilejowanego. Wybranie jednego z powyższych ujęć prowadzi do rozbieżności w procesie stosowania prawa karnego materialnego, a także w procesie wymierzania kary dla sprawcy przestępstwa. W artykule dokonano przeglądu różnych sposobów rozumienia klauzuli „wypadku mniejszej wagi” oraz implikacji wynikających z ich przyjęcia. W podsumowaniu zawarto również postulat większego dookreślenia znaczenia tej klauzuli.
The article discusses the meaning of “the act of a lesser significance” in the Polish criminal law. The existing interpretation of this institution raises many controversies which are of vital significance for the criminal law practice. Some representatives of the doctrine recognize it as a measure of a sentence, while the others as a separate manner of establishing a mitigated form of a crime. Selecting any of the above aspects leads to some discrepancies when practicing substantive criminal law and imposing a sentence for a perpetrator. The article covers an overview of diverse manners of understanding “the act of a lesser significance” and their possible further consequences. The conclusion of the article also includes a proposal to specify the meaning of the institution in question.

Efficiently functioning labour inspectorates play a key role for both fair mobility and the protection of workers’ rights. They contribute, for example, to combating and eliminat-ing hazardous working conditions, and ensuring that remuneration and social insurance premiums are actually paid. This is significant in the context of the posting of workers in the framework of the provision of services. Establishing the liability regarding compli-ance with the occupational health and safety regulations is causing serious practical dif-ficulties. Therefore, it is important above all to identify initiatives undertaken at the EU level designed to enhance cooperation of national labour inspectors in this field. It is also important to carry out an assessment whether they work efficiently, require systematis-ing, or perhaps it is necessary to undertake more formalised initiatives, e.g. in the form of a new EU institution.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie koncepcji wskaźnika oceny istotności regulacji jako narzędzia do wykorzystania w parlamentarnej ocenie skutków regulacji, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem oceny ex-post. Wskaźnik jest elementem szeroko rozumianej ekonomicznej analizy prawa, która umożliwić może skuteczniejszą kontrolę stanowienia prawa przez parlamenty. Wskaźnik umożliwia także weryfikację RIA przeprowadzonego przez projektodawcę na etapie oceny skutków regulacji ex-ante. Ponadto wskaźnik służyć może do przeprowadzenia analizy całego procesu legislacyjnego w parlamencie w danym okresie na podstawie przyjętych kryteriów prawnych i merytorycznych.
This article aims to present the concept of the Index for the Assessment of Regulations’ Significance as a tool used in parliamentary regulatory impact assessment, with a special focus on expost assessment. The Index is an element of the broadly defined economic analysis of law, which can facilitate a more effective scrutiny of parliamentary lawmaking. The Index also enables theRIA (Regulatory Impact Assessment) to be verified by the act originator at the stage of the ex-ante regulatory impact assessment. Furthermore, the Index can also serve as a tool for conducting an analysis of the overall legislation process employed in parliament over a given period of time, on the basis of the adopted legal and substantive criteria.

Cosplay is a poorly understood phenomenon related to popular culture. Currently, however, it is slowly attracting the interest of an increasing number of fields of science, such as sociology, psychology or pedagogy. The following article will present the theoretical foundations and research on the role of cosplay in the life of female cosplayers. Focusing on the subjects, I touched upon the issues of interpersonal interactions, interests and skills, social perception of cosplay, problems related to the preparation of costumes, and the impact of cosplay on identity development.

The rapid evolution of numerous contemporary threats and the development of multilateralism constitute two significant driving forces for the intensified cooperation between the European Union and the United Nations as regards crisis management. Responding to crises (threats), both natural and man-induced, in an efficient manner requires effective crisis management in order to take steps as early as possible when a threat emerges. Given the increasing external expectations in this field addressed at the EU, it has gradually been developing relevant civil as well as military instruments of crisis management and response. The EU has also been developing collaboration with the UN which calls for increased commitment of regional organizations in bearing the costs of maintaining international peace and security. Although this cooperation is mutually beneficial, it is not free from weaknesses and limitations on various levels of operation.

The media serve as a tool used for transmitting information, as well as a centre of social life. Werner Herzog’s films grow out of landscapes. The frames opening his works very often present landscapes whose role goes beyond illustrative or informative functions. Analyzing films such as Encounters at the End of the World, Cave of Forgotten Dreams, and Into the Inferno, the text reconstructs the meanings inscribed in Herzog’s underground and underwater landscapes. The journey beneath the surface of spaces dominated by nature usually constitutes an equivalent of the journey into culture in the director’s works. In a sense, they are films laced with reflection about experiencing landscapes. What is more, Herzog undertakes his reflections in the realm of documentary cinema, which is firmly entangled with the category of truth. Entering a landscape is therefore a way of reaching truth for the director—however, not objective but “poetic” and “ecstatic” truth, which, according to the creator, has a much more significant quality than mundane facts.

Opis:
A defining goal of research in AI and robotics is to build technical artefacts as substitutes, assistants or enhancements of human action and decision-making. But both in reflection on these technologies and in interaction with the respective technical artefacts, we sometimes encounter certain kinds of human likenesses. To clarify their significance, three aspects are highlighted. First, I will broadly investigate some relations between humans and artificial agents by recalling certain points from the debates on Strong AI, on Turing’s Test, on the concept of autonomy and on anthropomorphism in human-machine interaction. Second, I will argue for the claim that there are no serious ethical issues involved in the theoretical aspects of technological human likeness. Third, I will suggest that although human likeness may not be ethically significant on the philosophical and conceptual levels, strategies to use anthropomorphism in the technological design of human-machine collaborations are ethically significant, because artificial agents are specifically designed to be treated in ways we usually treat humans.

One of the functions of art is understanding an individual and his or her potential. Art provides an individual with proper conditions and gives new opportunities to function regardless of one’s age and disability. The purpose of this article is to get the reader acquainted with the significance of qualitative research especially in the context of arts-based research in special needs education and music therapy. In theoretical part, the authoress will attempt to answer the question of what benefits this research method brings and why it is useful. What is to be described at the beginning quite extensively is the situation of research in special education and music therapy as a scientific discipline. This presentation will smoothly lead the reader to the essence of article, i.e. the arts-based research method. The definitions of arts-based research will be presented together with differences resulting from defining the notions connected with art. Examples will also be provided of research based on art resulting from the combination of two disciplines such as special needs education and music therapy. Moreover, the authoress will demonstrate her own research based on art with the application of music which emphasizes the significance of changes that occur within the music therapy process. Finally, the arguments which emphasize the significance of artsbased research will be mentioned.

Reflection on the role of the method in theology aims to show that the method remains an extremely important tool for theology as a science. Theology, like other scientific disciplines, must be based on an appropriate methodological system when it undertakes to explain the religious and supernatural element in the world. Without this element, theology loses its significant cognitive value and ceases to inspire human thought. Today, one of the most important tasks of theology as a science is to establish the necessary balance between the deep sense of faith and religious practice.
Refleksja na temat roli metody w teologii ma na celu ukazanie, że właśnie metoda pozostaje niezwykle ważnym narzędziem w odniesieniu do teologii jako nauki. Teologia podobnie jak inne dyscypliny naukowe jeśli ma odgrywać ważne posłannictwo w dziejach ludzkich, a zwłaszcza przy wyjaśnianiu pierwiastka religijnego i nadprzyrodzonego w świecie, to musi opierać się na odpowiednim systemie metodologicznym. Bez niego traci na znaczeniu jako wartość poznawcza i inspirująca myśl ludzką. Obecnie jednym z najważniejszych zadań teologii jako nauki pozostaje zapewnienie niezbędnej równowagi między pogłębionym zmysłem wiary a praktyką religijną.
