Opis:
The article is about the search of identity by the writers from the German Democratic Republic. The author analysed in it the prose forms of opinions of seven writers representing different generations in the German Democratic Republic (H. Richter, l. von Wangenheim, M. Neumann, O. Herbert, U. Püschel, B. Wogatzki and W. Kaufmann). These opinions appeared in April1986 in the East German literary journal "Neue Deutsche Literature". In all the utterances the autobiographical trend strikes us in which direction the authors go in order to picture the phenomenon of looking by them of the so called "one's own place" in the spiritual landscape of the divided Germany. The autobiographical record makes it possible for the above mentioned authors to present the problem of East German writer's identity in a measurable and concrete manner with reference to a given writer as human being thus making it possible for him to avoid the burden of historical motivation in relation to their own national history. Giving up the historical dimension of the problem of German identity the above mentioned writers resort to the geographical experience of the place of residence; to the neighbourly relations started on its basis; to the family tradition of customs in order to come from this externally experienced perspective of a given territory to the extra-territorial generalizations concerning the symbolic place of man on an equally symbolically understood earth. This kind of an all-compassing imagination of the above mentioned writers from the German Democratic Republic in their considerations on the subject of identity renders both their need of transgressing the tight territorial boundaries of their own statehood and is an example of an escape into utopia, sentimentalism and the myth of man with his brotherly, supranational earthly paradise. Thus the problem of identity of writers from the German Democratic Republic may, at least with reference to the above mentioned authors, be considered as controversial and unsolved.

Opis:
The author analyses co-existence of visual and language signs in Mrozek's drawings. Because of the kind of mutual relations, seven types of signs are distinguished. These are: 1. visual autonomous signs; 2. comic strips (stories in drawings); 3. iconic multimeaning sign; 4. iconic sign - interpreting of the language sign; 5. language sign - interpreting of iconic sign; 6. language sign reduced to the plan of expression; 7. iconic sign as a pretext to introduce language communication. The analysis shows the relational character of language signs in heterogenic communications and vast possibilities of iconic signs which, apart from conveying simple information, are capable of interpreting concepts and ridicule mechanisms of language manipulation. It also allows to speak about the evolution of Mrożek's work.

Opis:
The oldest conception of the origins of music in European culture was formulated by Democritus, who stated that music arose as an imitation of birdsong. This conception was the most serious working hypothesis on the beginnings of music before Darwin. In the musicography of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries it constituted an alternative to the predominant creationistic theory, paving the way for the scientific positivist approaches which in the nineteenth century led to the eventual depreciation of thinking rooted in religion. In evolutionistically- and scientisticallyoriented comparative musicology the mimetic theory was rejected on the grounds of a lack of scientific evidence of the evolutionary link between birds and man and especially between birdsong and music. The aim of the article is to show that the mimetic theory of the origins of music was a relict of a mythical vision in which birds represented the materialised image of transcendence. The beginnings of music were linked to the voices of birds, which in many cultures symbolised human spirituality-above all spirituality manifest through death. Thus Democritus’ ‘hypothesis’ may be interpreted as a myth in which the ‘song of the beginning’ is identified with mourning

Opis:
Birds are not only part of nature, but also an important element of culture. The life and behaviour of some bird species has been reflected in literary tradition in the form of poetic images and representations reflecting existential problems and stereotypically associated with specific states of the human psyche. These images and their poetics inspired composers of the Romantic era to create their musical, semantically charged counterparts. A special place in European poetry and music is occupied by the nightingale, which has wide symbolic connotations. My article discusses the musical replicas of the nightingale’s poetic representations in the songs of F. Liszt, J. Brahms, F. Schubert and K. Szymanowski. Each of the presented songs constructs meaning and relates to the poetic images in a different manner, despite the suggested or even expected repeatable nature of the emotional expression and experience symbolically associated with this bird.

Opis:
The author describes the properties of modern ways of “reading in science”. It emphasizes the relationship between the type of text (digital, printed) and the kind of reading activity. He points out that reading science texts by scholars is rarely done in full and in linear order. Reading in science, requires active engagement in text, information processing and efficient selection to fully understand content. Analyzing the changes that have taken place with the advent of the C generation, he analyzes “reading in college”. He argues that contemporary students (special education) – representatives of the computerized generation – connected -always clicking – have dropped printed text and are not interested in books as a source of knowledge. Although they have a proficiency in searching online resources, they experience difficulties in using the text and its content. By copying the thesis, the author presents the results of the research conducted in this field and refers to many publications on this subject. Clearly recognizes the need to prepare future students for a rational and critical use of scholarly reading, to learn how to study a scholarly work (both at the earlier stages of education and within the university education system). Also, believes that pedagogical thinking and action derive both from the association with the scientific texts and from reading literature. Reading is an irreplaceable way to enrich the sensitivity and imagination of future teachers (special).
