Opis:
The aim of the study is to evaluate the concept of culture in the face of social heterogeneity. Focusing on the distinction between homogeneity and heterogeneity on the example of musical culture the author focuses on four questions. Does the concept of culture in its theoretical formulation mean that it necessarily crosses the border of the formal set-theory ontology and leads to the multiplying of the entities? Are there acceptable criteria for differentiating the cultural aspect of human affairs from other aspects? Can the practice of distinguishing the less or more unified wholes called cultures be justified when confronted with the irreducible complexity and heterogeneity of social life? Is the concept of culture, though useful for the analysis of non European and past European societies, still operative for the analysis of contemporary societies?

Opis:
The narrative used in the article refers to the interpretational complexity of the phenomenon of contemporary society. Globalization fulfills a wide spectrum of the global world phenomena in the situation of unobviousness, diversity, ambivalence and ambiguity, which influence the new quality of sociocultural life. Trying to understand the content given to the distinguished definitions of society, intellectuals refer to the theory of the social development and to the interpretation of the mechanisms of a social change, with a focus on the spheres of social life, which are the impulses for changes taking place in the society. Emphasizing heterogeneity and changeability of forms of postmodern social organization, one may point to the following orientations capturing subtleness of the contemporary society: orientation to a global change, orientation to a certain type of civilization ascription to risk, orientation to responsibility, orientation to anticipation, orientation to responsible participation and cooperation in a changing and interdependent global society, orientation to knowledge, orientation to experience borrowed from the media, orientation to the consumption ideology. Society faces the task of selfdetermination in the situation of non-obviousness, risk, fragmentation and ambiguity. By no accident then, were the the globalizational processes in the world and a critical and permanent thought and evaluation of the changes taking place in the modern global society, in the focus of the authoress. Paying attention to the quality of the global “cultural ecumene” (U. Hannerz) inclines reflection about global changes in lifestyles which is meaningful for the quality of changes in the job world and career planning and career management practices. The sequential development of an individual (which is integrally linked with the career development) constitutes the essence of the process, which is lifelong. The economy which is based on knowledge determines the orientation on knowledge of the contemporary society. The development of careers of members in such a society is its crucial element. Moreover, the quality of socio-cultural and economic changes will demand constant career management and modification of its individualized paths.

Opis:
Spatial modeling is currently one of the primary research tools used in regional analysis. Spatial models are an extension of traditional econometric models, which are included in the so called spatial effects: spatial dependence and spatial heterogeneity. The article presents the theoretical basis of spatial modelling, together with definitions of basic concepts and an analysis of their properties. Methods for estimating spatial models and diagnostics are presented. The study also indicates the complexity of spatial modeling, and the usefulness of this kind research approach. In this paper an outline the development trends of spatial modeling is delivered.

The text has been devoted to the analysis of the publications of the Movement of Alternative Society (Pol. Ruch Społeczeństwa Alternatywnego, RSA), a group gathering people with neo-anarchist views, originally jointly creating underground Solidarity movement, and later operating independently. The adopted research perspective—primarily pragmatic and stylistic—enabled scholars to distinguish and describe several features of the analysed magazines of the second circulation: the magazine Homek (at the beginning published as a biweekly, then as a monthly and finally published erratically) and ephemeral prints constituting an important tool of the Movement’s (RSA) operation.

Opis:
For efficient reservoir management and long-term field development strategies, most geologists and asset managers pay special attention to reservoir chance of success. To minimise this uncertainty, a good understanding of reservoir presence and adequacy is required for better ranking of infill opportunities and optimal well placement. This can be quite challenging due to insufficient data and complexities that are typically associated with areas with compounded tectonostratigraphic framework. For the present paper, data analysis and variography were used firstly to examine possible geological factors that determine directions in which reservoirs show minimum heterogeneity for both discrete and continuous properties; secondly, to determine the maximum range and degree of variability of key reservoir petrophysical properties from the variogram, and thirdly, to highlight possible geological controls on reservoir distribution trends as well as areas with optimal reservoir quality. Discrete properties evaluated were lithology and genetic units, while continuous properties examined were porosity and net-to-gross (NtG). From the variogram analysis, the sandy lithology shows minimum heterogeneity in east-west (E–W) and north-south (N–S) directions, for Upper Shoreface Sands (USF) and Fluvial/Tidal Channel Sands (FCX/TCS), respectively. Porosity and NtG both show the least heterogeneity in the E–W axis for reservoirs belonging to both Upper Shoreface and Fluvial Channel environments with porosity showing a slightly higher range than NtG. The vertical ranges for both continuous properties did not show a clear trend. The Sequential Indicator Simulation (SIS) and Object modelling algorithm were used for modelling the discrete properties, while Sequential Gaussian Simulation (SGS) was used for modelling of the continuous properties. Results from this exercise show that depositional environment, sediment provenance, topographical slope, sub-regional structural trends, shoreline orientation and longshore currents, could have significant impacts on reservoir spatial distribution and property trends. This understanding could be applied in reservoir prediction and for generating stochastic estimates of petrophysical properties for nearby exploration assets of similar depositional environments.

Opis:
X-ray computed tomography (CT) can reveal internal, three-dimensional details of objects in a non-destructive way and provide high-resolution, quantitative data in the form of CT numbers. The sensitivity of the CT number to changes in material density means that it may be used to identify lithology changes within cores of sedimentary rocks. The present pilot study confirms the use of Representative Elementary Volume (REV) to quantify inhomogeneity of CT densities of rock constituents of the Boda Claystone Formation. Thirty-two layers, 2 m core length, of this formation were studied. Based on the dominant rock-forming constituent, two rock types could be defined, i.e., clayey siltstone (20 layers) and fine siltstone (12 layers). Eleven of these layers (clayey siltstone and fine siltstone) showed sedimentary features such as, convolute laminations, desiccation cracks, cross-laminations and cracks. The application of the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Averages, Statistical Process Control (ARIMA SPC) method to define Representative Elementary Volume (REV) of CT densities (Hounsfield unit values) affirmed the following results: i) the highest REV values corresponded to the presence of sedimentary structures or high ratios of siltstone constituents (> 60%). ii) the REV average of the clayey siltstone was (5.86 cm3) and (6.54 cm3) of the fine siltstone. iii) normalised REV percentages of the clayey siltstone and fine siltstone, on the scale of the core volume studied were 19.88% and 22.84%; respectively. iv) whenever the corresponding layer did not reveal any sedimentary structure, the normalised REV values would be below 10%. The internal void space in layers with sedimentary features might explain the marked textural heterogeneity and elevated REV values. The drying process of the core sample might also have played a significant role in increasing erroneous pore proportions by volume reducation of clay minerals, particularly within sedimentary structures, where authigenic clay and carbonate cement were presumed to be dominant.
