Opis:
The concept of equivalence, despite the criticism it has received in the past decades, remains a useful framework for the study of correspondence between legal terms. In the present article, I address the question of direction-asymmetric equivalence in legal translation, i.e. equivalence that does not obey the “one-to-one” principle, and which usually implies that the translator’s decision-making is more difficult in one direction than in the other. This asymmetry may be triggered by intrinsic semantic characteristics of legal terms (synonymy and polysemy), by differences between legal systems (system-specific terms, the procedures used for their translation and their handling in lexicographic sources, competing legal systems, tension between cultural boundedness and neutrality), or by social factors (L1 vs. L2 translation). The instances of directional asymmetry discussed are illustrated with examples from French and Czech.

Jedną z form opieki świadczonej przez Kościół współczesnej rodzinie jest pomoc w ramach rekolekcji dla rodzin, prowadzonych przez osoby konsekrowane. W ich trakcie możliwa jest zarówno praktyka kierownictwa duchowego, jak i poradnictwo. Sama forma rekolekcji stwarza korzystne warunki do prowadzenia rozmów, zapraszania kompetentnych ludzi i pomocy rodzinom zarówno od strony duchowej, jak i doradczej. Doświadczenie uczy, że równoległe prowadzenie kierownictwa duchowego i poradnictwa jest możliwe. Kreuje jednak potrzebę dobrego przygotowania organizatorów rekolekcji i prowadzących je. Istotne również wydaje się podkreślenie konieczności kontynuacji pomocy rodzinie również poza czasem rekolekcji. Stwarza to większe szanse osiągnięcia oczekiwanych rezultatów.
The situation of contemporary marriages and Christian families raises serious concern of the Church, therefore all practical forms of help for the family seem to be needed. One of them is care provided as part of the retreat for families, led by consecrated persons. It enables both the practice of spiritual direction and the counseling. The form of the retreat creates favorable conditions for holding talks, inviting competent people and extending both spiritual and advisory help for the families. Experience shows that parallel spiritual direction and counseling is possible. However, good preparation on the part of the organizers of the retreat and of the retreat leader is necessary. It also seems essential to emphasize the need of continued help to the family outside the retreat. Then there are greater chances of achieving the expected results.

Opis:
Termin „kryminologia historyczna” jest obecny w nauce od około dwudziestu lat. Głównym założeniem tego stosunkowo nowego nurtu badawczego jest analiza przestępczości współczesnej przez pryzmat badań historycznych. Nie można zatem stawiać znaku równości między popularnymi także i w Polsce badaniami nad historią przestępczości i kryminologią historyczną. Autor prezentuje założenia tego nurtu w kryminologii, wskazując również na wątpliwości, jakie pojawiają się w literaturze w odniesieniu do wyodrębniania kryminologii historycznej jako pełnoprawnego nurtu w kryminologii. 
The term “historical criminology” has been present in science for about twenty years. The main assumption of this relatively new research trend is the analysis of contemporary crime through the prism of historical research. Therefore, research into the history of crime and historical criminology, which are also popular in Poland, cannot be equated. The article presents the assumptions of this trend in criminology. At the same time, it indicates the doubts which appear in the literature on the subject matter concerning the distinguishing of historical criminology as a fully-fledged trend in criminology.

In the 1980s, the communist authorities of Poland, forced by the dire economic and social situation, undertook a number of attempts to reform the centrally managed economy. By deciding on limited liberalization, they simultaneously secured the economic foundations of the government, which was dominated by the public sector. The Polish version of perestroika was, thus, implemented in order to balance the economy. However, like the Soviet model, it was a tactical move, essentially to consolidate the centrally managed economy. The economic hybrid that emerged from the partial reforms, contrary to the intentions of its creators, did not weaken, but rather strengthened deep crisis phenomena. Their inhibition became the main goal of the democratic government formed in 1989 and the radical economic reforms associated with the name of Leszek Balcerowicz. The departure from the reforms of the centrally managed economy and the undertaking of consistent market transformation resulted in measurable economic successes. They were particularly visible against the background of the economy of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine, whose authorities had abandoned comprehensive and consistent market reforms.

Production: Film School in Łódź Thousands of short films (turned mainly on black & white 35 mm film raw) are preserved in Film Archives of the famous Film School in Łódź. This large and unique collection consists of the earliest documentary and fiction student film projects made by famousto-be Polish filmmakers such as: Andrzej Munk, Andrzej Wajda, Roman Polański, Jerzy Skolimowski, Krzysztof Zanussi, Zbigniew Rybczyński, Krzysztof Kieślowski, Wojciech Marczewski, Sławomir Idziak and many others. The article assesses the importance of first professional student films made in Film School in Łódź and their impact on our understanding of further way of the filmmaker and formation of his individual style.

 Director/writer/actor Roman Polanski is one of the central figures in the history of Film School in Łódź. This study provides a detailed and comprehensive introduction to examine cinematic and artistic values of his early short films made between 1955 and 1961 in Poland and in France before his professional feature length debut “Knife in the Water” (1962). In his essential work Marek Hendrykowski looks at these nine shorts with in-depth analysis and adopts both historical and theoretical approach, making use of poetics terms, close reading method and socio-cultural interpretation. In its treatment of Polanski’s études this unique study discusses why these films are important in so many aspects and attracitve from many points of view and they have come to symbolise and represent modern cinema in Poland of the 1950s and early 1960s.

The foreign activity (paradiplomacy) of local governments is one of the elements of Polish foreign policy and one of the dimensions of contemporary international relations. This paper presents the re sults of the investigations concerning foreign activity of Polish regions and cities with China. Studies have shown, that China is the most frequently chosen direction of activity of Polish local governments among all non-European countries.

Since the founding of the republic in 1923, Turkey has been geared towards westernization and building close contacts with European states. Even after the end of World War II and the emergence of the bipolar system, it decided on membership of the capitalist bloc as an ally within NATO and aspired to membership in the European Communities. The disintegration of the Yalta system and the creation of the multipolar system became a challenge for shaping new directions in Turkey’s foreign policy, and at the same time weakened its links with the Western allies. Ankara has started to believe uncritically in its own potential and capacity to act as a regional power and Eurasian state that was building its influence in the area of the former Ottoman Empire. It seems, however, that uncritical self-esteem and excessive ambition have outstripped the possibilities of Turkish politicians
Turcja od czasu powstania republiki w 1923 r. ukierunkowana była na westernizację i budowanie ścisłych kontaktów z państwami europejskimi. Także po zakończeniu drugiej wojny światowej i powstaniu systemu dwublokowego zadecydowała o członkostwie w bloku państw kapitalistycznych jako sojusznik w ramach NATO oraz aspirant do członkostwa we Wspólnotach Europejskich. Rozpad systemu jałtańskiego i powstanie układu multipolarnego stał się wyzwaniem dla kształtowania nowych kierunków w polityce zagranicznej Turcji, osłabił równocześnie jej związki z Zachodem. Ankara uwierzyła bezkrytycznie we własny potencjał i możliwości pełnienia roli mocarstwa regionalnego i państwa euroazjatyckiego budującego swoje wpływy na obszarze dawnego Imperium Otomańskiego. Wydaje się jednak, że bezkrytyczna samoocena i wygórowane ambicje przerosły możliwości polityków tureckich.

Powołanie do świętości jest dla ochrzczonych darem i zadaniem. Jest to wspaniały dar nieskończonej miłości Boga, poprzez które Chrystus dał samego siebie jako ofiarę przebłagalną za grzechy ludzi. W Nim Kościół staje się święty. Przejawia się to w uświęceniu jego członków. Kościół grzeszników staje się Kościółem świętych.W sposób szczególny, sakramentalni małżonkowie uczestniczą w miłości Chrystusa. Są Oni zaproszeni do wzięcia udziału w tej "wielkiej tajemnicy" miłości "aż do końca". Uczestniczą w nim i co stają się one w sposób zamierzony przez samego Stwórcę. Pomocą na ich drodze jest regularne doświadczenie sakramentu pokuty w połączeniu z kierownictwem duchowym.
The call to holiness is for the baptized the gift and task. It is a marvelous gift of God's infinite love, by which Christ gave Himself as a sacrifice of expiation for people's sins. Though Him the Church becomes holy. This is manifested in the sanctification of its members. The Church of sinners becomes the Church of saints by the persistent undertaking of conversion.In a particular way, sacramental spouses are participants in the love of Christ. They are invited to participate in this „great mystery". If you truly love and „to the end" - they participate in it and what they become as intended by the Creator himself. The help they get on their way is regular experience of the sacrament of penance combined with spiritual direction.

Although the first unambiguous original proofs of the aeternitas Augusti idea come from the Flavian dynasty, its origin lies in the period of the late Republic and Principate. Aeternitas was a deified abstraction, which expressed the state the emperor could obtain as a result of deification. It was also an attribute of the emperor, the property of his divine nature. Analysis of the places and contexts of the occurrence of the eternity phenomenon with respect to the emperor in preserved sources suggests that the ideas of the state and the emperor’s eternity were complementary and mutually conditioned.The emperor’s aeternitas was declared to emphasize his religious and political role in thestate, in the process of granting him everlastingness. It was discussed in the context ofconcerns about his health and safety, particularly in the context of neutralizing plots toassassinate him, and in the context of the implications to the policy of the throne. Despite the fact that proclaiming the emperor’s aeternitas in the Julio-Claudian dynasty had noofficial character, the number and diversity of its original evidences prove the significantpopularity of this idea in society.

 Marek Hendrykowski presents in his study the earliest fiction and documentary films made by Andrzej Brzozowski (1932-2005), excellent Polish filmmaker, 1971-2005 professor of the famous Film School in Łódź (PWSFTviT). “Sunflowers” (1953), “Escape” (1954/55), “Legend” (1957), “Jazz Talks” (1957) – these short films, preserved in the collection of Film School Archive, are almost unknown for wider audience in Poland and abroad. In the second part of his study Hendrykowski gives also an accessible overview of the historical evolution of the filmmaker through the close examination of another two outstanding short films made by him: By the Railway Track (1963) and Medallions (1966). Last two were adaptations of short stories written in 1945 by Zofia Nałkowska, a masterpiece of antinazi world lterature. The article deals with the most important values and close-reading thematic and stylistic areas of Brzozowski’s early works: those developing in the 1950’s and early 1960’s but having deep impact in the poetics of academic short film in Poland, whose form and course they have fundamentally redirected.

Maciej J. Drygas teaches film direction at Film School in Łódź. His lavishly illustrated recent work “Someone’s else letters” is one of the best Polish editing documentaries ever made. The product of extensive research provided by the author in many archives is sure to provoke much debate and discussion about lack of freedom, breaking law by the state secret institutions, crucial importance of human rights and misery of everyday life conditions in Poland 1944-1989. In so doing Drygas greatly enlarges our knowledge and the scope of any understanding of this period. Marek Hendrykowski’s study is the first complete presentation ever published, covering every aspect of this excellent film, expressing its significance and including detailed analysis of its poetics.
